  1. Well, I finally used my dummy rounds today for the first time, despite receiving them in the mail weeks ago. They're already getting worn. Two got stuck on each other in the gun in a way that would have been very dangerous were it live ammo. One also got a little shredded in my gun. That is a piece of plastic that came off. Don't buy 3D printed dummy rounds. Have a good night.
  2. OK, I decided I'd just bite the bullet (ha) and buy them so I could be a guinea pig. After some use, I'll report back.
  3. I'm a new gun owner and just took a course this past weekend. I'll definitely need to get some dummy rounds to practice loading, unloading, and just holding up a long gun before I feel confident enough to shoot live ammo at the range again. (I am female so my lack of upper body strength does not help at all.) The ones we used in my course were Snap Caps with brass on the end, but when I look online for dummy rounds, I find not just that kind, but also a lot of 3D printed stuff. Anyone ever tried it, and would it be advisable to buy? Here are some photos from some eBay listings. (These are not my listings and I am not advertising them.) I would be buying 12ga but I've also seen 9mm. https://www.ebay.com/itm/12-GA-Gauge-Dummy-Rounds-Snap-Caps-Shell-Shotgun-Training-Dry-Fire-Ammo/154281795070 https://www.ebay.com/itm/9mm-380-Auto-45-ACP-Dummy-Rounds-Snap-caps-Training-Rounds-Made-in-USA/264867714105
  4. My views haven't really changed, since I always thought the restrictions on magazine sizes and such were ridiculous, but I was shocked that a supposedly "instant" N"I"CS check took 6 days! After I already had to wait almost 2 months for my FID!
  5. I went there yesterday for the first time for a shotgun course. It actually was my first time ever firing a gun. Since it's indoors, only buckshot and slugs are allowed, with only slugs allowed on the two outermost lanes. iirc targets can be placed anywhere between 5 and 40 yards away. I don't have a membership but the rates are more reasonable than at Union Hill Gun Club, the other range in Monroe, plus they have monthly memberships, hourly lane rentals, and allow guests. However, they don't rent guns nor sell ammo. The employees are nice, the lobby is spacious, and the bathrooms and the whole place overall are clean. It's less than 10 minutes from my house so I'll be back!
  6. I sure hope so, but all these freedom-loving people fleeing NJ is not helping. We need people here to fight for liberty. I don't plan to leave this state in the foreseeable future so I will do my part.
  7. I've been having a hell of a time finding any online retailer who sells 12 gauge buckshot or slugs. I just need them for a gun safety class! (I'm a brand new gun owner.) My class isn't until the end of February but I'd like to get the ammo sooner than later. Everyone only seems to have birdshot in stock. I AIN'T TRYNA SHOOT NO TURKEYS OR WATERFOUL! Maybe someday. My local shop doesn't have anything in 12 gauge and I'm not sure about any others in my area. I wouldn't know where to look! I'm around Spotswood. I'm willing to drive up to 45 minutes away on a weekend, preferably south rather than north.
