  1. I qualified with Shooters, paperwork all accepted and just notified my references were contacted.
  2. "Which begs the question, why don't they just issued the PP with 180 day expiration dates and be done with it." As if more than half the gun laws on the books in NJ make sense? One of my pet peeves is the pinned stocks on AR platforms. No adjustment allowed even if the shortest length in over the minimal legal measurement. Another broad-brush response to a perceived problem.
  3. The current administration has seen fit to deem it illegal to sell firearm liability in NJ. The USLawShield type is our only form of coverage available.
  4. What a no-nonsense, rational and honest assessment of the country since liberal thinking moved us from the core values that made America a great nation.
  5. Everything is in, complete package including prints. Had them done at IdentoGo in Manahawkin
  6. I qualified as well at Shooters and submitted everything last Monday to my local PD(Manchester). Would be interested in anything you hear on the court procedure. Thanks for that much so far.
  7. With rights come responsibilities, so I agree that firearm training at least the basic level needs to be demonstrated before a CCW permit is issued.
  8. Let's end this...seems only one here advocates for some ill thought out rationalization for open carry, mostly all other see clearly the sight of guns in NJ would alarm the general public. COMMON SENSE tells us not to poke the bear.
  9. In this state open carry, legal or not, would only escalate the fears of anti-gun advocates. Why provoke an already committed block of voters to keep the current ilk of legislators in place? Responsible gun owners, legally carrying firearms without uncalled for use will slowly convert some fence-sitters to the pro-gun side of the debate and alleviate those fears & concerns.
  10. To: Combat Auto I wasn't advocating long, difficult qualifications. I agree 10-15 yard max for basic civilian self-defense is quite adequate. I simply related that based on info I received prior to qualifying I practiced things not required when I did and am very aware of the difference between practice and training and never implied that the test was sufficient in itself to prepare a gun owner for defensive situations. The skills needed are, indeed, a life-long learning experience. I wish everyone here best luck in whatever test they go through, and hope they continue to hone the skills necessary for their safety.
  11. Rifles are allowed indoor at Shooters. From their web site: INDOOR FIREARM RANGE Shooters Sporting Center has a 15 lane, 25 yard Indoor Firearm Range. Equipped with an automatic target retrieval system, properly adjusted lighting, and a state of the art ventilation system ensuring a steady flow of fresh air moving down range. The range is wheelchair accessible. Bullet traps are rated for rifle and handgun calibers up to 3,600 fps. NO .50 caliber bmg, NO steel core, NO armor piercing ammunition and NO RELOADS OR HANDLOADS are permitted. No muzzleloaders are allowed in the indoor range.
  12. I like challenges, a reasonable test that makes me concentrate & perform as best I can. The one I took was very easy 30 rounds on a FBI_Q target, 10, 7.5 & 5 yards, 10 rounds each. I had practiced out to 25 yards from low ready and one hand and support hand only at closer ranges. So now I'm looking for a training course a bit harder to learn & test myself.
  13. My appointment was 1 week wait, 1/2 hr drive, I arrived early and was taken in and out in less than 10 minutes. Manahawkin office on rt. 9.
  14. Well, I jumped through all the hoops they put out there, Qualified, all the paperwork turned into local PD, (very receptive and helpful, by the way) fingerprinted yesterday and confirmed transmission from IdentoGo to them. Now we wait. Ocean County is one of the "on record" sanctuary counties in NJ, so hopefully that will help.
  15. From Evan Nappan, Attorney. How long should it take for the Chief or the Superintendent to approve or deny an application prior to it going to the Superior Court for final disposition by a Judge? A: The application must be approved or denied within 60 days of filing. If the application is not approved or denied within 60 days of filing, it shall be deemed approved by the Chief or Superintendent unless the applicant agrees to an extension of time in writing.
  16. I had them all in my bag, the bag went into the range with me. The only gun out was the one I qualified with. Only time they were out was when the instructor recorded the SSN's after everyone qualified.
  17. They are some of the most knowledgeable staff I have ever dealt with. Class act all the way, constantly in touch with the latest updates. Yes, they know where to find SSN's.
  18. It’s more important in “enemy” districts for all gun owners contact anti gun reps. Conservatives helped by moderate owners can move the needle in our direction once pols see their comfort zone shrinking. BE VOCAL, calls are more effective than emails.
  19. No extra charge. 80%(24/30) in a FBI Q target 5, 7.5 and 10 yards, 10 rounds at each distance to qualify.
  20. Murphy did it by executive order?????????? What the hell do we have a legislature for??????
