  1. I figured. NJ is ridiculous about guns. I was going to bring some other pew-pews to do some shooting while there, and realised I'd have to get all new mags. Many thanks for the answer!
  2. Had a similar question with slightly different situation. As the SN implies, I am a former resident of NJ now in a much more gun-friendly state. I want to gift my father in NJ one of my shotguns (legally owned and purchased months ago by me, but not what I wanted) because he and the missus are getting up in years and the good ol' Lousiville slugger is not gonna cut it much longer as they lose grip strength. My current understanding of the NJ laws about gifting long guns and familial transfers; and the Fed laws leads me to two conclusions. Let me know if I missed anything. 1. I need to bring/send the shotgun to an FFL in NJ (transporting it IAW NJ laws to the shop if I bring it in-person) and the patriarch needs a Firearms Purchaser Identification Card and to be NICS-checked to take possession and have it transferred. 2. The transfer is covered by a COE form between immediate family members (even though I am a resident of a state in the Midwest), but the father needs to have a Firearms Purchaser Identification Card Reckon that sounds about right? As I see it, any way I do it, NJ makes the receiver register with a Firearms Purchaser Identification Card first before they can take it.
