  1. It was tagged as blemished inside the box; they say they thought it was a mistake and not actually blemished so never mentioned it in the listing. I never took it from my FFL and they already provided a return shipping label.
  2. Ah, I'll take the refund. I will forever feel like I was somehow cheated on principle. But for a moment, holding it and admiring the gold slide, I felt like a true gangster.
  3. They're willing to take it back for a full refund. I wouldn't mind taking it for a partial refund, but it seems like they just want to auction it off again as a blem.
  4. The funny thing is, if it wasn't tagged "blem" I probably would've been fine with it. But something about it being marked "blem barrel" by the manufacturer and still sold as "Factory new: 100% perfect condition" really rubs me the wrong way. I've definitely bought "new" guns with random small blemishes, but if Magnum Research decided to tag it as blemished it makes me wonder if there's more than I can tell.
  5. Ordered a factory new Desert Eagle at about retail price (don't judge ) but it came to the FFL tagged as "Blem Barrel". Looking it over, we only found some small scuffs near the front. Honest question: Is this a "blem"? Was this tagged by Magnum Research by mistake? The retailer is willing to give me a full refund. Would you take the gun or take the refund? It is a 50AE in black and gold.
  6. From their site: Honestly, you pretty much have to go at least once a week to justify the membership. The only big advantage is that you get two hours. I had some friends come into town recently and the two hours plus free reservation was convenient. Let me tell you, even the "free cleaning" also left me disappointed. There are exceptions and they may flat out refuse to clean vintage or milsurp guns. They asked me for $250 to clean the cosmoline off of a gun. They say "the cleanings have to take less than an hour." Well, that's great. But if they only clean things that are easy to clean, where's the value add?
  7. Just a general FYI that as of this morning here are the new prices: New Pricing Classic Member: $89.99 monthly Premier and Empire State Members: $79.99 monthly Blue Line Member: $59.99 monthly VIP Member: $149.99 monthly This applies to all new and existing members. This email was just sent last night so I'm posting here in case anyone missed it or has anything to add. (IMO, they could at least throw in some extra transfers)
  8. Granted, "deals" might be generous since they're often pretty cheap anyway, but I wonder: has anyone historically seen any particularly enticing deals for "Ruger day"? I wouldn't go out of my way to get a 10/22, but if I saw something super cheap (with a decent scope already on it)... why not?
  9. Brace yourself. This is a doozy. https://heritagemfg.com/revolvers/heritage-rough-rider/309-6-5-rough-rider-22-lr-black-tactical-cowboy
  10. These run great in all of my 22 guns. Can never have enough.
  11. Thank you for the information! Do you know if it's required to commit for the entire day?
  12. I have no idea. I'd call Ruger, they might be able to help get a 9mm cylinder fitted and timed for you. If it's anything like their single six... Even going back to the sixties, single sixes could be fitted for 22LR/22mag as long as the cylinders are timed properly.
  13. Thank you everyone for your input! Hopefully for the best, we put a deposit on a Pacifica Touring L with V6 and AWD drive. The wife just likes it the most and the inside is quite nice. I didn't get to really test it to extremes, but it's surprisingly agile and responsive. The shifting and ride was very smooth, even for my wife in the back row. Ultimately, she makes the choice, I just pay for it. There was also a nice BMW 2018 convertible relatively cheap in the lot. Was almost tempting to go for a twofer...
  14. Wife is greatly leaning towards the Pacifica. I think this weekend we'll go explore some of these things in person. Whatever we get, I'm surely aiming for V6 and AWD.
  15. Really prefer all wheel drive and at least a V6. We drive so little that Hybrids also give no extra benefit. Thanks for all the additional input so far. It's a lot to digest, and I am re-reading the details to fully absorb it. We'll be browsing at some of the local dealers to see some of the callouts here. Honestly the Pacifica was starting to steal our hearts but I need to do more research into any reliability issues. Haven't heard Kia or Mazda mentioned, though I've heard them both to be highly dependable. Any thoughts there?
  16. Thanks everyone for the input so far! I've been reading through this very carefully. Honestly, never thought I'm a minivan person but the Pacifica looks interesting! Starting to lean towards American manufacturers based on the input here. Definitely will! You guys want a laugh? I have a 2007 Ford Escape.... with ~26K miles. Not a typo. I got it new in Brooklyn and barely drove it. In fact, I probably drove it too rarely and parts started rotting away. I had to replace all the brakes, rotors and calipers, within the last few years. ABS and 4WD lights constantly on, and now it leaks like crazy in the rain. I might consider trading it in if I get anything, otherwise I'll fix the leaking and use it as a backup.
  17. Hello All, We're looking to retire our Ford Escape and go with something newer, bigger, and better. Any non-luxury, gas capable suggestions? Hoping for around $30-40k. A 7-seater seems a good choice since it means we can drive both our kids and my wife's parents if/when they visit. It'd also have a lot of space if we don't need the extra row. So far we've considered things like the Honda Pilot or Volkswagen Atlas. I'll be honest: I am not a huge car nerd. I don't commute by car anywhere for work; we mostly use it for groceries, take-out, and bringing the kids to playgrounds. I really appreciate any input at all, or recommendations for trustworthy dealerships near Livingston. Thank you all!
  18. **DISCLAIMER: I am relatively new to gun ownership.** I never heard of this brand before, though it looks cool. I have two .45 1911s and recently got a 10mm 1911 from Iver Johnson with a ported barrel. The 10mm definitely has more "oomph" than the .45 but it's very manageable in the 1911 platform. I took out my 10mm to the range twice and both times it constantly jammed. It was better the second than the first, but still failed to feed on almost every magazine. It's possible I'm limp wristing it, though now I'm leaning towards lubrication and/or ammo. Feels like it needs more oil than its .45 equivalents. I'm going to try it again sometime with plenty of oil and other ammo brands.
  19. Hello all, Silly questions incoming. I've noticed that many people use "Mobile 1 synthetic" for their guns. Now, I notice that they sell both an oil and a grease that comes in a tub or tube. What would be the difference as it applies to guns? I have heard that some guns like grease more than oil or CLP, like the M1A/M14. For that, would I want something like this? Would it be general purpose for guns, or would that be more for the automotive oil rather than grease? For the folks that do use Mobile 1 or similar oil, is it something you use for all your guns? ie. on all the rails and main wear points? Or does it still depend? I've been using Hoppes oil for everything. However, I definitely find a few guns in particular going dry.
  20. It's great you guys had a good time! I really hope to make it sometime, which will be easier as the babies get a little older. I also wish anti-gun folks could see some of the wholesomeness and joy that comes with shooting sports.
  21. Looks like the air quality is MUCH better this morning. Down to the 50s in my area. 60s in Midtown.
  22. Looks clear today but the air quality numbers are worse than China.
  23. Western Essex County... We went out to a playground this afternoon, thought it was just sudden haze or pollution. But it got worse quickly; my wife described it as "the whole neighborhood having barbecues at once." So, yeah. Our outdoor playtime is on hold until the air's clear. Hopefully they can control the fire and evacuate anyone in immediate danger.
