  1. How does obtaining a GMRS license let you know what people are doing? What is your plan?
  2. Shop Rite has Campbell's Chunky on sale for $1ea (6 for $6 with digital coupon, limit 6 cans at this price), and after the first 6 cans they are $2ea (Normally $3.49ea).
  3. Get a ~$100 Uniden Bearcat scanner to find conversations on the airwaves. Program that frequency into your Baofeng in frequency mode and you can talk back. FYI, they may not respond or may chastise you if you do not sound like you have a license. But hopefully in a SHTF situation, they won't be doucheholes.

    Radios...?

A good antenna can be more important than power output. Plus power output and range is mostly exaggerated. If you want a decent but cheap (~$25) radio get a Baofeng UV-5R (or whatever is latest version). They have models that are 8 or 10W (not likely, but are probably over 5W though), and have replaceable antenna's. This will be significantly better than your typical GMRS radio, and with a decent antenna and programming can be almost as good as much more expensive radios. Legal notice: IMNAL, but technically they are illegal to use on FRS/GMRS channels because of the power output and swappable antenna. You could technically program the power output to be compliant for each channel, but a swappable antenna is technically not allowed for FRS/GMRS radios. Never heard of anyone getting in trouble using one though. I've also heard that these are illegal for HAM use because they can transmit on UHF and VHF. Again, who is going to know or care (besides the very anal ham operators)? But they are in common use and would be a good starter UHF/VHF radio before sinking a ton of money into pro grade radios. You could legally use them on MERS channels with good results. Again, these will be significantly better than your typical GMRS radio, and with a decent antenna and programming can be almost as good as much more expensive radios.
  5. I did this for about a year and a half in my EDC. I noticed that some of them had bullet setback. They were pushed so far back that you could not see the crimp marks anymore. I disposed of those and then shot the rest at the range with no issues at all. I'll probably do this once a year from now on and just buy a new box to replace them. $25/year isn't so bad for piece of mind.
  6. I carry Underwood Extreme Defender for a short barrel micro .380. Based on reviews on different ammo types for my specific gun, this was suggested as the recommended ammo as most HP will not expand in a .short barrel .380. This gets you the penetration you need but also provides a large wound tract (compared to other options for my gun). https://underwoodammo.com/380-acp-68gr.-xtreme-defender-platinum-edition-solid-monolithic-hunting-self-defense-ammo/
  7. "State said LCM's are a risk to mass shootings and they need to be banned to allow people to escape at the reload." Wow, the argument for restricting magazine capacity is so that in a mass shooting, people have time to get to safety during the reload. This clearly shows their massive ignorance or blatant lies. A mass shooting is typically planned in advance and the shooter will have many magazines on them, strategically placed. Reloads typically take less than 4 seconds and can take less than 2 with a little practice. This is not enough time for an unarmed victim to realistically realize the shooter is actually reloading and flee and get to a safe location in time. If that were actually the case, all mass shootings would be limited to 10 people as after the 10th round, everyone else could flee to safety during the reload. Clearly this is not the case. Further, mass shooters also do not care about laws since they aren't planning on being around after the incident (suicide by police) to face any consequences of using "illegal large capacity magazines", so banning them in one state does not prevent a mass shooter from using so called "LCMs" in a mass shooting. Banning LCM's would have very little effect on mass shootings. On the other hand limiting the magazine round count significantly impacts a weapon's usefulness in a home defense situation for the law abiding citizen. Break ins are rarely perpetrated by just one person these days, but instead by multiple thugs. Again criminals do not obey laws, so they could have illegal firearms with high capacity magazines. During a break in, the home owner rarely has time to load up and secure multiple magazines on their person in a high stress and quickly evolving situation, especially if this is likely occurring at night and you are in your pajamas or worse. You would be lucky to be able to grab your weapon with one mag already in it, and maybe one mag more. While a mag change may not be enough time for an unarmed victim to safely flee, a mag change by a home owner with a low capacity magazine could give an armed criminal the time to safely return fire and kill the home owner. The same could be said in a CCW self defense situation. Not many CCW's carry more than 2 magazines. In a shootout if the law abiding citizen with a low capacity magazine has to stop to reload or runs out, that could provide the criminal with illegal HCM's to safely shoot and kill the law abiding citizen.
  8. The dude who did that is not a welder. He's a grinder.
  9. I saw a video where the ship lost power twice (lights shut off). Guessing this is the cause of loss of control. You can see they gave it a bunch of power (lots of black smoke) right before impact, guessing to try to correct course but too late.
  10. Mine are light and laser combo's. I wanted a light and figured add the functionality of a laser too. Cost difference is like a box or 2 of ammo.
  11. They are definitely not patting down every illegal they come in contact with. You can see videos of them just waiving illegals through.
  12. So if they snuck the weapon into the country they are legally allowed to posses it?
  13. For your AR-15's see here Basically, AR-15 rifles need to be "Post-Ban" configuration. Can have a pistol grip and detachable magazine, but these are realistically your only 2 evil features Non-adjustable stock (you can pin an adjustable stock to make it non-adjustable or replace adjuster spring with solid material) 16"+ barrel (AR Pistols are illegal in NJ, but "Non-NFA Others are allowed) Can have muzzle devices (except flash hider), but must be pin and welded. Cannot have a useable threaded barrel (crowned barrel or pin and welded ok). 10 round mags (not 15) Cannot have folding stocks Cannot have supressors If you have AR Pistols, if you can get them to be over 26", you could convert them to a Non-NFA Other by adding a vertical forward grip (and other things). If your AR Pistol is less than 26" (cannot have folding stock), you can add a VLTOR buffer tube to get an extra inch. You can also pin and weld a legal muzzle device to get about 2.5"
