  1. Unfortunately the rule changes/clarifies the definition of SBR to <16” barrel. If it’s a rifle then NJ rifle rules might apply. It seems the ATF is closing the “other” loophole so it’s a pistol, a braced Pistol, a rifle or an SBR. The Other category goes away I think. we will need to see how it holds up when challenged.
  2. Lots if interpretation here and thats all well and good. I'd like to avoid selective enforcement where an overzealous prosecutor wants to earn their stripes so speak and make an example of someone who doesn't have the wealth to hire good lawyers. It seems to me that Troy, MM etc.. with the NJSP letter created the pattern that many used to create their own "Others" that match those build specs. Thinking It would be very hard for any prosecutor to say Troy Good DIY Bad. A few questions/thoughts: 1) So is is safe to say Troy, MM etc.. with be first to fight this and while that is going on, the DIY crowd should chill? 2) The NJSP letter leverages the ATF definition of rifle and pistol, if indeed the ATF classifies everything not a pistol as a SBR or rifle, wouldn't the NJSP letter be retracted and render all Troy, MM and DIY others illegal in NJ even if we applied for the free tax stamp? Putting NJ law aside for a minute, the rule creates a Tax Free window to register the brace. What exactly would on register?! The brace itself or the completed firearm? Take care,
  3. So now that I finally have a PTC for NJ, I can apply for a non res LTCF for Pa since I find myself crossing the border often. The process is super easy, but many county sheriff's website specifically state that they will not issue non resident permits although that is exactly what the process should be. There are two counties that have an online portals Berks and Philadelphia, both require you to be a resident of the county before you apply online. Has anyone cracked the code. i am wondering if they are not issuing non res due to a recent spike in NJ PTC applicants. I did email Phila and will report back when I hear from them.
  4. emailed licensing officer. his reply "That is part of the card it only means something it check off" so I guess I am good to go since there is no check in that box...it looks strange. Thoughts?
  5. "other parts of the law that require registration of all firearms may also be maintained." I read the law, where is this stated? I must have missed it. I am under the impression that reg is voluntary other than the implicit reg one creates by submitting the Qual paperwork with has the Model and S/N.
  6. Oh and one other thing. My permit is printed Black and while on heavy card stock, it doesn't have the blue header i see in other pictures. this thing looks like something that could be forged with crayons post card. But i guess it was printed at the PD and they dont have color printers....
  7. Ok so besides the snafu with having employee of an armored car company on my PTC which I am not... December 8th to Dec 27th issue date, Jan 13th notified to pick it up. Not sure where or why it sat for two weeks, but that is my experience for Bridgewater NJ.
  8. Picked up PTC and it is has Employee of armored car company on it. that is incorrect. any suggestions to how to get it corrected without a new application process?
  9. Good Morning, Has anyone netted out they implications of this law. what exactly must we do to comply while this is being litigated? Do i need a super long pooper scooper to clean up after Fido as to not step on private property? Or is the public Right of Way which often extends a few feet into private property protect right to carry in that case? Car Carry, if not on one's person while in a car, where? out of reach like when going to and from the range? are we permitted a short window of time to arm ourselves while in the car so as to not brandish or advertise if we intend to conceal carry (although there is no distinction in NJ as i understand it) OR must we exit the vehicle and arm ourselves for all to see?
  10. So far I am impressed. I dropped off my application on Dec 8th in the early morning and my references received a letter in a postage paid envelope, Friday and Saturday, with a post mark of the 8th. meaning near zero delay in starting the process. I will keep you all posted, but wanted to share some initial impressions. Any idea how long it takes for mental health records to come back?
  11. Hi, I need an affidavit of ownership. I lost the paperwork. My PD said it needs to be notarized, but i assume that is just an official witness, correct? or is the notary in addition to the witness on an Affidavit? does anyone have an example of what an affidavit looks like? is it as simple as. I Mr Mister affirm that i do indeed own the Beretta 92FS S/N xxxxxxx Signature Date Witness Signature Date Notary name Signature and seal
