  1. Another area where NJ law or at least practices permit the creation of a privileged class of person which is unconstitutional. The NJSP carry an assisted opening knife and I doubt that they ever have to explain it the way I would have to explain my acquired overseas spring-assisted model which I carry strictly in case I am called upon to cut a cake in an emergency.
  2. Speaking of the recently updated SP-642 how freaking hard is it to make a one page one sided form without it having any glaring mistakes? If I did my job like this I think I would be quickly terminated. Box 13 doesn't allow enough characters for anything but a very short email address. In the endorsement section acquainted is misspelled four times - presumably they got it wrong the first time and cut and pasted it three more times. In the endorsement section there is an additional line, setup as a text field, in the address section that isn't labeled and serves apparently no purpose. Hey but at least the people endorsing you can have email addresses on services like optonline or comcast instead of aol.
  3. There is nothing in the application documentation that implies or states a limit on how far back the mental health record check goes. Seems like you are expected to reveal anything mental health related no matter how long ago it took place. Having said that, just like with tax documents as an example, there are legal requirements for how long medical records are retained. In New Jersey that requirement is seven years for office visits, outpatient type stuff and ten years for hospital stays. That absolutely does not mean that a doctor's office might not keep your files longer than required but it does mean that a records check can't always find everything - even if somehow you were foolish enough to give them names and dates. (other than commitments which are recorded by the county they would have to know where to send a request for medical records meaning your HIPAA waiver is basically meaningless when they don't know who to show it to)
  4. Man, I don't know, I think I'd have been scared witless that one of the cops would spot that I was carrying and that things might take a very dangerous turn. Maybe farfetched but I'm picturing a rookie seeing you accidentally exposing it and screaming "gun" while drawing his own. Not at all sure of the right answer and maybe silence really is golden I'm just not sure.
  5. I'm completely, both feet, heart and soul, in the pork roll camp so no worries and thanks for the welcome! I've never had anything (that I know of anyway) from this "air fryer" you speak of. I guess I need to get out more. LOL. Thanks for the welcome! Thanks very much!
  6. Thanks and love your user name and icon. Did you know that studio publicity shots of Diana Rigg in that outfit were highly collectible amongst a certain set in Europe back in the day? LOL.
  7. So I've been doing a bunch of reading here and it's been very helpful as I start to figure out the process of getting an ID and, maybe, a ptc in the Garden State. All very new to me! I'm in the southern end of Ocean County and so I've been thinking of swinging by Shooters one of these days to get some idea of what I might be purchasing. Any recommendations for other shops / ranges gratefully received. Background: I grew up in a society where gun ownership is pretty much unheard of so when I say this is all new to me I really mean it, lol. To be perfectly honest I've had some inner conflicts about the whole gun debate and 2A and all that but, in recent years, I've really started to "get" the whole idea of individuals owning firearms and I think I want the option of carrying one - probably not every day - but certainly in some situations for sure. Anyway I look forward to joining in some discussions!
