  1. Okay, I was mistaken about where Piscataway was. For some reason I thought it was in South Jersey on the way to Atlantic City. Sorry for the confusion.
  2. I am "way north" of piscataway. I'd like to know if you're hosting a course in the New Brunswick area as that's not too bad for me (I only mention that because it's listed on your profile).
  3. I haven't seen the show yet; it's on when I'm at work. I have seen the previews and it looks like a show I'd really enjoy. I am however disappointed (though not surprised) that there would be a scene like that in any show.
  4. Beautiful dogs! It really made me smile to look at the pics of them having fun in snow. I've been without a dog for a little over a year now; she was a mix breed that I rescued. She really loved the snow, too.
  5. I want to go to this rally on Tuesday, but I don't get out of work until about 9-930am. Would anyone be interested in carpooling? We can meet in either Parsippany/Morris Plains area (where my job is), or Mt. Olive (where I live). If this works for you, please reply or send me an IM!
  6. I just signed up a guest. Any word on the status of the buses?
  7. Those two are my favorites. However, I think that the second one should be simplified for two reasons: one, how are you going to fit all that on a sign, and two, as you said at the beginning, if it's too complicated it won't register. How about keeping it simple: a bad guy with a gun can only be stopped by a good guy with a gun. Yes, I'm aware that it's a quote from Wayne LaPierre, and maybe you don't want to be associated with him, but you see the point.
  8. I'm not aware of any statute that penalizes publishing the information of gun owners, but the records themselves are confidential under the NJAC. That means that the state cannot simply hand out that information to the Star Ledger simply because they request it. If the Star Ledger challenges that, hypothetically the courts would deny the request and uphold the confidential provision in the NJAC. This is simply because the specific code does not violate an exisiting statute. That is assuming, of course, that the courts follow their tradition of government deference. That's the point I was trying to make. Sorry for the confusion. On another note, someone in the media (I don't know who) made another point. If the names of gun owners have to be published, then why not the personal information of people receiving food stamps, tax paid abortions, unemployment benefits, or other forms of welfare. Chances are their confidentiality is not protected by statute, but rather by a state or federal code (not sure though, I haven't verified that). Doing that would certainly make it easier to crack down on fraud and abuses of the system.
  9. I put in for the day off and I registered for the event. I'm just waiting to hear more about the bus from Bridgewater; otherwise I'll be interested in carpooling with someone (from Morris County).
  10. I just read it. You made a lot of great points. Thanks for writing it, and congratulations that they published it!
  11. Generally speaking, courts will uphold the administrative code as long as it doesn't directly violate a statute. They are intended to define or limit/expand the meanings of statutes for the state agencies.
  12. A Florida carry license does not itself give you the right to purchase handguns in Florida (or, to take possession of them anyway). You need to have residency in the state in order to purchase handguns there. Keep in mind that if you try to find some loophole, NJ will probably find some way to charge you with something (remember, police here become pitbulls when it comes to firearms violations).
  13. Just be warned, the statute says "reasonably necessary," not just "reasonable."
  14. Mount Olive PD plays the same game, claiming that ID cards expire every five years.
  15. Depending on how long ago it was, you may need to get your records from the archives in Trenton. http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/superior/copies_court_rec.htm Good luck to you in getting this resolved.
