Federal Judge: Illegal Immigrants Can Carry Guns
GRIZ replied to xXxplosive's topic in National Gun Law Discussion
And you know this because...? I know what I know as I worked on the border for over 2.years and have worked there tdy several times since. OTOH, there is little reason for aliens to smuggle a gun. Reasons? 1. They know if they get caught with a gun by USBP they'll be in trouble. No gun? I can tell them any name I want and walk right in 2. They are coming from countries where guns are very difficult or impossible to obtain. 3. Those so interested know they can obtain a firearm easily off.the street. -
Looks sloppy.

Federal Judge: Illegal Immigrants Can Carry Guns

I can guarantee there is no way USBP or CBP let's an illegal "slip" in with a firearm. Yes, all government agencies on all levels are governed by policy. Can it happen that an illegal slip in with a firearm? Yes, but not something that happens routinely. More like rarely. Very rarely. The "got aways" who have crossed between the POEs may have smuggled a bazooka or 50 lbs of fenatyl. They were never encountered by USBP or CBP. Don't blame the mean and women of the agencies for that. There's only so many of them. -

If you're implyimg Border Patrol and CBP turn a blind eye to drug smuggling you're wrong. You have little vision of the volume of drug smuggling. Sadly, I'd say maybe 10% of the drugs smuggled are intercepted. That's not due to lack of diligence by Border Patrol and CBP. I guarantee you no Border Patrol Agent is going to put an alien, caught between the POEs, into a vehicle for transport without a search. No CBP officer is going to sit down an alien.for processing without a search. Exit searches, although legal, are rarely done. Mexican Customs are not big on searching anything unless there's some money in it for them. You can load your trunk up with guns and ammo and drive into mexico with 99.9% chance of not being searched. -

Letting illegals into the country and letting illegals into the country with smuggled firearms are different issues. I'm certain CBP or Border Patrol give them a pat down and search any bags they have. -

That would be an importation issue for CBP. Generally if you import a firearm without declaring it it becomes contraband. -

This is a major point many are not thinking of. If you're not convicted you're not a criminal. Same thing as an unconstitutional law is not unconstitutional until a court has ruled it so. -

Hmm...that seems like a stretch saying "the people" refers only to citizens. Illegal aliens have been granted every other right why not 2A? -

Okay, but if you're a strict "Constitutionalist", you'd have to go along with this. No where in the Bill of Rights does it say citizens. It says people. The 2A doesn't say citizens, it says people. -

GRIZ replied to Scorpio64's topic in General Discussion
There already is a Supreme Court Police. Protection of the Justices is one of their duties.but when you look at the rest of the stuff they're supposed to do with less than 200 officers 24/7 protection of all Justices is not possible. -
Can you unlock a door with a gun?
GRIZ replied to Dr. Goodshot's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
Generally, yes. I've been witness to.several instances. But it depends. Wood doors easier. Steel doors maybe. Heard of a guy who was security at an illegal drug lab with a steel.door.. Armed with.a sawed off.12 gauge loaded.with.birdshot. Cops came with a warrant. He tried to shoot the cops through the door. Only successful in shooting himself with ricocheted birdshot. .Never saw a padlock that didn't quit after 1 or 2.357s. Don't ask me how i.know. -
This is why the handgun needs to stay attached to you. I've carried a 4" 357 and full.size semiautomatics (1911, Beretta 92, etc) concealed with.no issues. Change your holster or gun.

15 State AGs to Biden: Ban Sale Of 5.56 To Civilians
GRIZ replied to 45Doll's topic in National Gun Law Discussion
Yes, laws do infringe on Constitutional Rights with good reason. You have the right to demonstrate but the government can require you to get a permit. The 4A protects you against unreasonable searches by the government but there are a bunch of exceptions to warrantless searches. All Constitutional Rights have exceptions ruled by the courts. And that's in the COTUS. I could go on but that's not the point of this thread. If you'd like to discuss it further pm me. -
They will surface sooner if not later Europe and other places.

15 State AGs to Biden: Ban Sale Of 5.56 To Civilians
GRIZ replied to 45Doll's topic in National Gun Law Discussion
You are seriously misunderstanding me. I'm far from a Constitution of Convenience person. I don't have an idea how you arrived at that possibility. I might believe more in the COTUS than you seem to think you do. Paraphrasing Scalia said the COTUS says a lot of things. Scalia also said there are a lot of things the COTUS doesn't say. Out and out authoritarian? What did I say to make you come to that conclusion? The first paragraph in my post is a fact. A fact that is written into.the COTUS. Do you believe in that process? You mention judicial review in another post in this thread? That is written into the COTUS also. Do you believe in that? Yes, many times courts rule in a manner I don't care for but I'm a big boy and learn to live with it or find a way around it. I'm not going to go around whining. That accomplishes nothing. There are many laws that one might say are "contrary" to the COTUS. But they've passed judicial review and they are the law of the land. This law restricting the sale of LC ammunition is going nowhere. I mentioned earlier in this thread it is only a bill and really doesn't stand much of a chance of passing. Concern yourself more with the border.being shut down. All this would take is a EO by Biden he could do in a few minutes. -
Reminds me of a line i used when someone would pull a knife on me. I'd pull gun, not point it at.anyone, hold it in the air and ask, "what do.you think.this is, a pretzel?".
-
Sounds like a wordgame but you do have a point.

Hmm...what is the purpose of informing him you're armed? He's threatening you? In what manner? Do you hope to scare him off?

15 State AGs to Biden: Ban Sale Of 5.56 To Civilians
GRIZ replied to 45Doll's topic in National Gun Law Discussion
Okay, a bill in Congress is a proposal. Nothing else. One can introduce a bill to suspend the COTUS. A bill.is meaningless until it is passed by both houses and signed by POTUS. Then it is a law. Then it means something. If a law were passed forbidding Lake City ammo production to civilians (and it won't be for the time being) that does not infringe on your 2A rights. You still can get 5.56 elsewhere. Laws do "infringe" on Constitutional Rights at times for good reason.
