  1. If no one has first hand info that was a genuine Glock in his holster at that time there is zero chance of prosecuting anyone. Where were these "concerned anonymous sources" nearly two years ago when this was happening? This sounds like the guy had or didn't have the gun and there are factions trying to make a pissing match out of this two years later.
  2. No you can't use deadly force to protect property. If you go up to an armored car, a bank or a jewelry store unarmed and steal something and there is an armed guard present they cannot shoot you. If you are unarmed, don't use or threathen any deadly force you can't be shot for stealing. The fact is virtually all robberies of armored cars, banks, or jewelry stores are committed by someone who is armed or threathens deadly force in some way. Armed guards carry weapons not to stop someone from stealing but to protect themselvs and others from criminals that use the threat of deadly force.
  3. Does anyone know for sure that is a genuine Glock he is carrying or a stage gun? Hard to tell just by looking at what sticks out of the holster.
  4. What do ou think the constant construction is for? They need to keep the tolls so they can continue to exist.
  5. Istan Your scenario of a rogue group is more likely. However if Israel were being over run by their opponents in a conventional conflict don't you think they would use tactical nuclear weapons? There are other countries I can see doing this. If India and Pakistan started throwing nuclear weapons at one another I think we would stay out of it. MAD keeps them in check. It is always safer to have more nuclear weapons and have some concealed from your enemies than only have a few.
  6. The only 92s in Italy would be in the hands of the military or police. The 92 is sold to civilians in Italy in 7.65 Luger and 9x21 as the 98 FWIW.
  7. They would but 9x19 is illegal for a civilian to own in Italy. Maybe 9x21 is the caliber used for 92s there.
  8. This is nothing compared to the threats during the cold war. A major reason the USSR collapsed was because they went broke trying to prepare for the war they were sure Reagan was going to start. The Russian concept of defense looks a lot like offense. The MAD principle keeps it all in check. I would worry more about countries that have nuclear weapons and have nothing to lose.
  9. NJ law says metal knuckles so if these are made of anything other than metal they would be okay. I can't remember what state it was but a guy was arrested with aluminum knuckles and the state law only said brass so he got off.
  10. State laws in almost all cases apply to anyone in that state not just citizens of that state. If you go to a state that allows open carry or concealed carry without a permit it applies to you almost all the time when you are in that state. This is the rule but you have to research for the exceptions.
  11. If he were a PA resident buying the gun from Cabela's there would still be all the paperwork and NICS. Some of the possibilities posed by PK90 are plausible but I think if it was something Cabela's could have just settled on their end with some cash they would have done so. If its true PA police would have difficulty in trying to get the gun back if its in NJ. I doubt that its stolen as all the police in PA would have to do is call NJSP and they could just seize the gun. If the feds wanted it for any reason they would just get a seizure warrant and take it from you. It would be up to you to chase Cabelas for your money back which I am sure wouldn't take too much chasing. I would call Cabelas and have them give me their police contact and verify the story. If they do that and you verify it I would tell the police when I'm bringing it back and do so. If I couldn't verify it I would do what I want.
  12. It seems to me some people are overthinking this. You should do this and also change your driver's license to your parents address. Your parents address is your US home of record. Store them in a lockbox or small safe so your parents have no access. There is no tranfer. Hold on to your FID until you get back and then change it to your new address. This is as long as you trust your parents. I would feel okay with the safe deposit box. I know its not one of the exceptions but neither is bringing a handgun home after you purchase it.
  13. I don't understand your rationale here. NJ law says its and assault weapon if its on the list (M1 carbine type along with Plainfield and Universal listed) OR substantially identical. The lawsuit you mentioned is only applicable to SA and Colt. You can use that as a precedent if you file a lawsuit for the M1 but its not a guarantee they have to okay the M1. Using your rationale a AR15 marked lower would be legal if you had a no flash surpressor or bayonet stud upper attached. It would seem to me that someone much smarter than both of us put together would have taken the issue of a M1 carbine in its original configuration (no folder, flash surpressor, or bayonet stud) to court in the past 15 years. Not trying to bust your chops just trying to better understand your conclusions.
  14. A RPO permit takes 45-60 days without a local PD or judge involved. I would suspect at least 90 for a regular permit. If your employer can justify a need for 24/7 response you can get an all the time permit.
  15. That's the place they went on the short lived salvage show with the clock tower and the bowling alley isn't it?
  16. A dirty gun and a dirty motorcycle are two diffrent things. You change the oil and filters, lube wherever they need it, and check tire pressure don't you? A clean gun is more than just appearance.
  17. No damage done with normal fieldstripping. If you have a M1A or M1 with a bedded action you will hurt it. I agree if you're talking about detail stripping that many people are fascinated about. The only time to talke a gun completely apart is if its broken.
  18. You have to also change your address on your FID to your in laws then change again when you move to your new house. No insight regarding Denville PD.
  19. You can load underpowered ammo to foil any guns reliability. Lugers, P1s,and P38s are other guns that don't like underpowered ammo.
  20. This is because the full auto conversion was designed I..nto the carbine. IIRC the M2 conversion kit consists of only 7 parts. Plus the stock cut to accommodate the selector. You could order the parts at one time (of course not all of them from one supplier) and build an illegal M2. ATF got wise to this and certain parts are now considered to be NFA items. It is not unusual to see a M1 that picked up a M2 trigger housing or stock during a rebuild. Last I looked a legal M2 kit (just the parts not including the carbine) was about $5000.
  21. The NICS is a federal requirement and as has been said is the important one. You''re going to have that done no matter what state. The one you pay the local pd for is just a pita requirement.
  22. Okay you don't get attached to things but do you maintain your cars, motorcycles, home and whatever else you own? Or do you drive your car until it stops running? Guns are no different and a little goes a long way. You can do a 90% clean on a handgun in about 5 minutes. A lot of guys have families and if you have time to shoot them you have time to maintain them. Maybe you need to look at your time management. I've always been of the school that believes a clean gun is a happy gun and a happy gun will take care of you.
  23. Finding a large amount of cash in itself doe not constitute sufficient probable cause for a charge of money laundering under federal law. I am not that familiar with NJ noney laundering statutes but I am sure they parallel the federal laws. Not being privy to the details of either case I can't say one way or the other. They could have been based on prior information or just good police work. You probably don't remember when the NJSP was making significant drug seizures on the Turnpike on a regular basis. Nearly all of them were the result of good police work with no prior information. However the stops they made were based on profiling and this was deemed illegal because race was one of the factors. The FBI prosecuted a lot of cops because of profiling as a civil rights violation. This put an end to profiling and an end to the frequent significant drug arrests on the Turnpike. This has come to bite us in the butt after 9/11 and one of the reasons we all have to take our shoes off to get on a plane.
  24. What difference does it make if one agency tips another and they catch criminals?
