  1. Thank you. I totally respect your opinions.
  2. Separation of church and state means there shall be no state mandated religion. "God" and "Creator" are clearly mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. The First amendment says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...". It has nothing to do with mandating the removal of every religious reference from our everyday lives. I haven't met any normal people who practice a non-Christian religion that were offended by terms such as "Christmas Party". One needs to refer to this now as a "Holiday Party" because radicals demanded the change. By your "simple" interpretation, a school would have to change the title and the words to Handel's Messiah so as not to insult anyone. We should also not teach that many colonies were founded base on religious freedom.
  3. It only seems useful for close range if this ballistics table is correct. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2011/12/new-quiet-22-rimfire-ammo-from-cci-just-68-db-of-noise/ Mid range trajectory is nearly 9" high when zeroed for 100 yards.
  4. Because NJ is run by liberals and they are the ones who appoint judges. Look at the NJ Supreme Court. Denying carry permits is not a matter of being held responsible but one of furtherance of an agenda. Its got nothing to do with being held responsible as they can be held responsible for not issuing permits to people who have applied, been denied, and later killed or seriously injured by a criminal.
  5. reloader guy is correct. Judges can't be sued. Who would want to be a judge if they could be sued for every decision they made?
  6. I have two DPMS rifles for about 6-7 years, several thousand rounds, and zero problems. Both factory builds. I would trust my life with either of them.
  7. That would be on the NJSP form to apply for an FID or pistol purchas permit. There is no such question on a 4473. Not busting your chops Lunker I had to look it up to be sure.
  8. PM sent can meet you thursday pm or friday am.
  9. It would have to be a dl or other id from the state where the shop is in the case of a handgun.
  10. Couldn't pm you on my phone left voice and text message on your cell.
  11. Sold. I'll take both at your asking price. PM being sent to arrange pickup.
  12. Okay, your system works for you but I hardly ever throw away a round I've reloaded. I don't think its just luck what's worked for me for almost 40 years.
  13. I disagree. I've been reloading 5.56 for almost 40 years for a variety of SA and bolt rifles and have had zero problems using standard dies. There is also some brass out there that will result in a case stuck in the die (yes I know how to lube cases). There may be some. SA rifles that need SB dies but I haven't encountered them in the 5.56, 270, 308, or 30-06 rifles I've used in nearly 40 years.
  14. Casablanca. Something for everyone love story, action, intrique, comedy, and historical fiction. I got to see it on the big screen 10 days ago. I have several dvds and vhs of the movie but when I see it on TCM its like a found treasure.
  15. The ALICE from midway comes with frame and straps ready to use.
  16. That change is pretty new as I just discovered it when I checked in December. There are two types of people regarding luggage lost by airlines, those that have and those that will. I usually find a trip with connecting flights more expensive from smaller airports vs going through a bigger one even when you take into account driving there and parking. For example, flights out of Atlantic City usually cost a lot more than the same flights out of Newark or Philly. Driving to a smaller airport would take me substantially more time than just going to Newark or Philly. I guess you just have to do what works for you.
  17. One thing has changed. It used to be you gave the key to no one and you did all the unlocking and locking. However, from the TSA website: "Travelers should remain in the area designated by the aircraft operator or TSA representative to take the key back after the container is cleared for transportation." Now you are just supposed to wait wherever they tell you to. Flying out of a smaller airport is okay but presents another issue. You rarely are able to get a direct flight from smaller airports and must make a connection at a hub somewhere. This means yopur luggage (and your firearm) have to get transferred to another plane. This creates another chance for your gun to be lost. That said, I've flown out of Newark, JFK, O'Hare, Denver, Philly, and a bunch of other airports with a firearm in checked luggage with no issues at all. This has nothing to do with me being a retired LEO as I have to follow the same rules as everyone else. I don't use my retired ID when I fly just my DL.
  18. Ray the guy in the photo may be his grandson as Jim Jr is old enough to have a son in his 20s. If you're talking factory ammo I agree a JHP would be better in a 4" or longer barrel. I prefer the wadcutter in a J frame size gun with a 2" barrel. I know they make JHP loads for short barrels but in any case the efficiency of the JHP depends on expansion. If you don't have enough velocity you won't get the expansion and if you have too much, too quick the expansion will limit penetration. I've said the wadcutter is already in an efficient shape when it hits the target. You said "the rate that energy is transferred is more important than the amount of energy transferred when it comes to causing trauma". That may be so but what is more important than that is shot placement. Shooting a J frame revolver is hard enough and adding the muzzle blast and recoil of a +P JHP load doesn't help anyone shoot it better. The lighter recoil and virtually non-existent muzzle blast of a factory wadcutter make that J frame easier to recover for follow up shots whether they are an experienced pistolero or a novice.
  19. Midway has used used large ALICE packs for about $40 with frame. I bought one and it is in like new condition. I have used them over 40 years to carry tons of stuff thousands of miles and the ALICE works well.
  20. No ray it makes you extremely knowledgable.
  21. I realize what you're saying. I had to explain to someone who Elmer Keith and Skeeter Skelton were. I guess that shows my age but this is a case where Google is your friend.
  22. A wadcutter is a very good SD bullet for the following reasons: 1. The bullet is already in an efficient shape. A hollowpoint needs to expand a bit before it gets in the shape of a wadcutter. 2. Even at target velocities (725-750 fps) it will penetrate more than 14" of ballistic gel. 3. If you're using a lightweight J frame it is much easier to control than a +P round giving you greater accuracy and quick recovery for follow up shots. The same goes for someone who may be recoil sensitive in a larger revolver. The problem with a wadcutter is not the shape but a higher velocity would make it much better. Back in the 70s I remember manufacturers offered a target load at about 750 fps and a standard load at 850 fps or so with a wadcutter bullet. If you want to crank up the velocity you need to use a flat base wadcutter as a HBWC can blow out the base leaving a ring of lead in your barrel. Reversing a HBWC for massive expansion (moreso with a swaged bullet) can work. When it works it works well as Old School related. The problem is if one side of the nose of the bullet hits something hard (button, belt buckle, bone etc) on the way in, it can collapse that big hollowpoint. At the very least you wind up making the bullet a solid and at the worst cause the bullet to tumble early limiting penetration. These are some of the results I got when I tested reversed HBWC back in the 70s and mirrored results Jim Cirillo got. Jim was always looking for the "magic bullet". Most of the designs he came up with looked like...a wadcutter. Some of these had a cup point to give a bit of expansion. He tried (at least once that I know of) a flat nosed wadcutter in a 45 ACP in a 1911 single loaded directly into the chamber backed up by IIRC Super Vel hollowpoints in the magazine while working in NYPD's Stakeout Squad. I'll use factory wadcutters in a J frame as a SD round. Are there better things out there? Maybe, maybe not.
  23. I know Glenn very well. I'll let him know how much help he was to ypu.
