  7. Sig doesn't now, nor have they ever manufacturered their own magazines. They source from either Checkmate or Megcar.
  8. The Longshot range should be open around September at 375 County ave., Secaucus. It's at the interesection of County and Secaucus opposite the DMV Inspection Station.
  9. Or just modify them permanently to 15 rounds. http://www.magazineblocks.com/magento/products/magblock-kits/ar15-magblocks.html Epoxying the floor plate on makes it a permeant modification. JB Weld will do it. I lived in Nutley for 22 years. nice town, taxes a bit high. But it has a good school system.
  10. Be careful of the cheaper models. They don't have the filitered current needed for electronics and can easily destroy the cercuits of a heating system. A transfer box is also a muct. I have a 8kw Generac that runs most esential systems in the house. Heat, well, some lights, refrogerator. If I ever have to replace it, I'm going to a 11kw.
  11. The issue of rentals was the reason that smith and wession closed their public range on the manufacturing property. Renting firearms has it's own set of issues. How do you hold someone responsible for the basic safety areas when they have zero experience? As in the case with S&W, what does the range owners do if it's found they transferred a gun to a felon ? They have a significant investment in that facility and having an employee screw up can doom them. For years, Sig academy has make it mandatory that ANYONE taking a course on their property have a current state criminal background check on file, be law enforcement or a current carry permit. Many private clubs are going the same route.
  12. You will be paying it every year as cars are taxed under each town's tax rate as property. However every year as the vehicles depreciate the cost goes down. As far as a NH tax return, if all your investments are IRA's and 401's then you won't pay. I let an accountant handle it. Like anywhere it depends. A 50 x 75 in rye could go for a million. Way up north you can get an acre to not much but you have to drill the well, and install septic. Then you might have to run electric. A lot next to mine sold a few years back for almost 100K for a 2.4 acre parcel. But this area (Seacoast) is the most expensive in the state. My real estate agent was from Warner. Felt bad she had to drive down south every time I came up to look at homes in the seacoast area.
  13. Check these dvd's out. They have some outstanding entry level primers that will give you an idea of what's involved in IDPA and the rules for equipment, shooting matches and tricks to stage success. http://panteaoproductions.com/dvds?category=competitive
  14. Actually it's not. The academy is in Epping, NH. Their former office, manufacturing and warehouse was in Exeter nut moved to Newington last year. Chris now knows where it's located.
  15. Feel like a bit of travel for a great cause and a fun time?? We will even show you the best spots to get fresh lobster !!!! Once again we will have our raffle..
  16. I've used only Varget in my AR match loads. My load is 24 grains using the 77 grain bullet loaded to just under magazine length. I've only used LC cases and CCI primers. the load is a tack driver and I use it out to 300 yards on my range The "crunching is normal. I load it on my Dillion but do so in a single stage manner with each powder load measured individually trickling the last few tenths of a grain. The nature of the powder does make it a pain through powder measures. That's not a big deal as I only load 60 rounds or so prior to each match. Care must be taken to avoid the powder bridging the measure blocking the flow. I have several jugs of WC844 surplus powder for range loads that meters great through the Dillion measures.
  17. Just like last year, we will have the outstanding BBQ provided courtesy of the the Meat House. http://www.themeathouse.com/Home.aspx And as the custom every year, the raffle...Handgun shipping courtesy of Sig Sauer and Strum Ruger. Make a weekend out of it. Shoot some steels, eat some lobster, tour the Seacoast area and maybe take a course on Sunday.....
  18. For the 6th. year, this event is being held. Once again SIG has donated their facility and staff.
  19. Surprisingly, the legislation is not getting support from firearm's group up here. The state's largest newspaper and a pro-gun one at that printed this today. The day before it outlined the largest pro-gun group in the state opposing it.
  20. Who handled your paperwork? Mike or Dom.By the way, the Chief was happy the process went well.
  21. As I bought my first firearm in 1970, the FID and PP requirement was in force. But firearms were sold in local Sears and my favorite, Service Merchandise. Edleman's was a popular northern NJ chain of about three or four stores that went on to become Kimber.
  22. Both guys in t6he DB are gun collectors from way back. In the past the average wait was six to eight weeks. The new live scam prints program cut the way back from five weeks to about two hours. Depending on the workload, they try. Like everywhere else, they now have fewer people to do the same workload. Good to hear you were treated well. I can positively say that the Chief has seen this comment. Capt. R. Scalzo - Retired Secaucus PD Secaucus, NJ
  23. The problem we are running into is a large reduction in manpower. through attrition, we are down 19 percent in manpower. So administrative tasks wait while background investigations wait. A lot depends on how many areas of responsibility the officer in charge of the BI has currently. It varies greatly from season to season and from department to department. I can tell you this. The live scan fingerprint submission has cut down the wait for prints to return from four to six weeks to a matter of a few hours in many cases. That was a shocker the first time it was used in my department. Sorry I couldn't be more specific but there are just too many variables involved. Our two try to push and their only failing is that they will chew your ear off for hours talking about guns when the applicant comes in for the card.
  24. I don't agree that they are valid in MANY cases. While if you have a large enough sampling, you will find some that fit. But as a stereotype is based on the point of view of the individual themselves, what validity is there to the concept? Little to none. I could think of numerous stereotypes. Looked at from another's point of view, I'm sure they would disagree.
