Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think tubular magazines and rimless cartridges mix very well. Also, you want a bullet profile where the meplat is wider than the primer of the bullet in front of it. The only exception to this are the honady leverrevolution ammo because the polymer tip is squishy and deforms to a shape wider than the primer or provides sufficient buffer to impact.

Heck, sometimes the fudging isn't even deliberate. UCr guidelines often vary form local guidelines, and accurate pass through of data can depend on impossibly perfect paperwork skills. Then you get institutionalized drift. We've always had break ins that occurred with a member of household present. But we didn't have home invasion statutes until after we got a big wave of them and home invasion specific legislation was passed. The parts in that particular rifle are good. The barrel is still a mystery though, and it's not clear what trigger is in it. For a similar price, the stag 3g definitely has a good barrel, and a standard trigger. For $200 more, it comes with a geissele super 3 gun trigger, which is a nice trigger. All the above will require you getting them pinned and welded, etc.

The 55 gr projectile is more accurate due to how it is manufactured compared to the 62 gr penetrator rounds. The 62gr round was put into action for the ar platform in shorter barrels, but primarily to improve wound ballistics with a lower muzzle velocity and improved barrier penetration.

Well the uniform crime reporting stats are only preliminary for 2011, and there's nothing for 2012 yet. It's the kind of thing you are never going to get stats for the current conditions. However, for 2011, we seem to be trending towards the bottom of a decline in crime across the board. Given the long slide by small percentages, it wouldn't take much of an uptick to look like a spike in any given category. As for rank and file LE saying differently, I think that is a matter of perception. The rate of injury and death amongst police officers in the line of duty is up. That could be because you are looking at a gang fight between the gang in blue and the drug gangs that doesn't necessarily spill over into large areas of the general populace. It could be due to police officer headcount reductions resulting in any individual police officer having an increased likelihood of a violent encounter on duty because even if the rate of crime is falling, police forces around the country have recently seen budget related attrition resulting in a higher rate of decreased headcount than the rate of reduction of crime. Also, for a police officer, more types of crime equate to the possibility of observed violence. My house gets broken into or my car gets stolen while I'm not there, no violence. An officer winds up having to deal with that perpetrator either after the fact or caught in the act, it will likely result in persuit and at least a little bit of struggle during arrest, if not worse. Thus there may be a tendency for police to see many crimes considered non-violent as violent. Can the stats be trusted? They will never be perfect, but some things are verifiable to a degree. For example, the UCR stats show a downward trend in auto thefts. If you look at insurance institute numbers, they report detailed stats mostly form the UCR, but they also report decreasing premiums for coverage of thefts. Which means the actuaries say theft is costing them less, and the actuaries DEFINITELY take into account actual payouts made on policies under that category. Since cars aren't getting cheaper, that leaves two possibilities: 1) there are less thefts, and 2) everyone but the folks living in nice safe neighborhoods are dropping theft coverage. Are home invasions up? No idea. I would suggest that daytime break ins have always been a popular method of reducing risk when burgling. Given the economy, likely more people are at home during the day being unemployed or underemployed. That would say to me that it is plausible that what would be a break-in could be converted to a home invasion stats wise even if there was no intention to do violence, and none occurred.

Don't be too sure. it depends on turnout as the weather warms and issues like people actually obeying the parking instructions as well as parking capacity and help tearing down. In the 90s all the above become issues, and we don't want to be tearing down until 7pm, and if we can't fit all the vehicles someplace other than the access road that the OB board doesn't have an issue with, then we may see a cap come back. I got one. Yes, they are worth the money. However some of them are stupidly designed and you do not want them. In specific, you don't want the ones with a motorized beater bar. (current new production those are the DC33 and DC28) Smartly, they ahve a clutch mechanism so obstructions don't break the thing. But the suction is so great that large area rugs and short pile wall to wall will set off the clutch making a horrendous noise. I got one of the previous iterations of this refurbed for $179, and even on my 9x11 area rug, it will start have issues. Also at issue with the motorized beater bar models is that they are THICK up front, and can have trouble reaching under toe kicks and furniture. I can say that the things have wicked suction, and will drive air-turbine accessories at a ridculous speed with some decent torque. I took the air-turbine based stair attachment form my hoover (on which it would cease spinning when it touched basically anything with a gentle touch), and I couldn't stop it spinning against any surface. It gets TONS of crud out of the carpet my hoover wouldn't, but you do have to respect the MAX line on the cannister. Fill it above that and you can clog the vortex thingy and make it fail to work right in a manner that will require a detailed disassembly of it or a trip back to the mothership for repairs. It's pre-filter and post-filter arrangement makes a hell of a lot more sense than the competitors IMO, and seems to cut down on emitted dust much better (i.e. on the other hepa filtered vacs I've used, you can see dust streaks eminating from particular areas after some use, not so with this one). When my cheapie refurb dies, I will replace it with one of the lighter air turbine models.

Ammo prices are mostly due to commodity prices, commodity volatility, the fact that ammo and component makers don't buy directly off the commodities market so have to deal with markups form distributors that are trying to amortize issues with said volatility to improve their bottom line, etc. Copper has been swinging 25% quite regularly (heck, it did more than 10% in the last 60 days. since 2009 it has spanned form about $1.25lb to $4.50-ish). Lead has been up 10%, down 10% and back up 5% in the last 60 days and since 2009 has spanned form $0.50 per lb to $1.20. A big factor is that china has been trying to monitize (sort of) industrially significant base metals. So there's the giant chinese copper buying robot, which seems to buy in hard at a low of $3 or so, and eases up as it nears $4. They stockpile it to theoretically shore up their currency. Scarcity however is driven by customer demand. Political party doesn't matter much, policy does. With dems you get fear of legislation leading to hoarding. With republicans, you often get increased military spending and "tough on crime" programs that give added one time funds to municipalities. This can result in increased ammo purchasing by institutions, and thus shortage of components. This also leads to retail gouging. I would expect ammo prices to drop, but guns might not. AR stuff has actually gotten cheaper. A lot of that is due to economy of scale permitted by government fueled spending.

Well vs. anything else of similar construction or design? They offer more variety than a lot of similarly priced competitors. They offer lower prices than some competitors with more variety. Construction is solid, price isn't outrageous, and availability is generally better than most competitors. This leads to them being stocked by more dealers. I think that explains most of the popularity. I have a set of the VZ aliens, I like them.

The law is 18". BATFE measures with their magic rod of truth by closing the action and dropping it down the muzzle. The magic rod of truth is often not exactly 18", so people cut over. Manufacturers seem to like 18.5" Gun smiths seem to be willing to do 18.25".

lets see. ghost used to make a pushbutton holster (not from their race holster side of the house).. now they don't, it's a thumb push design. Fobus used to make a push button holster.. now they don't, it's a thumb push design. Safariland's retention holster uses a thumb push design. The only ones still doing it are iTac and blackhawk as far as I can tell. I suspect there is a reason.

Well, I won't talk specific prices for the whole gun, but I will talk about two key items. The barrel and the BCG. Disregarding the odd sale of mystery barrels for $100 form someplace I know form experience not to trust the quality of their mystery shoes, much less gun parts, About the cheapest you can get that is a known quantity are about $150 fro chrome moly(most of those are sourced from mossberg at the moment), or about $200 for chrome lined (not sure of the source of those). They shoot ok. Put m193 in them, and you can hold about 2.5-3.5 MOA depending on luck of the draw. For $256 I can get a decent name brand cold hammer forged chrome lined HPT and MPI tested barrel that will hold 1-2 MOA depending on luck of the draw. The difference between a DPMS mystery bolt metal BCG and a BCM BCG with an MPI/HPT tested bolt is all of $10. Heck, I can get a BCG form the same source as BCM from a lesser known vendor for $5 LESS than the DPMS one. For a premium of $110 I get quality components what will likely nearly double the service life of those parts and be more accurate. If it's a choice between something and nothing, going cheap has it's place. If it means having the patience to wait a month ort or having it now, I 'd suggest waiting a month or two to save up for the good stuff.

If you want to see how you finished overall compared to everyone who shot, you want "pistol finals all divisions" If you want to see how you finished on a given stage compared to everyone who shot, you want "pistol all divisions" becuase it will list the scores/order for each individual stage. If you want to see how you did in your division overall (lets say you competed in produciton), you'd look in "pistol finals production" If you want to see how you did in your division on a given stage, you look in (same assumption) "pistol production"

Most powders are temperature sensitive to some extent. Most of them increase pressure in warm weather, and decrease in cold. Some are inverse sensitive and increase pressure in cold weather and decrease in hot weather.
