  2. Reward training works very well. We started with hot dogs, but moved to Pet Botanics Training Rewards, which you can get from Petsmart and Amazon. Less messy and easy to carry in pockets.
  3. Asa helped me with my GSD when he was 4 (the dog, not Asa). He did a great job. Lost my GSD last December and am about to adopt another myself. Super intelligent dogs. And they can be trained at any age, truly.
  4. My low end, longish-range AR build. Magpul PRS and MOE grip, Spikes NJGF lower, Daytona Tactical 20" AR upper, NCStar 3-9X Mark III scope. Unfired as of yet.
  5. Thanks for the help! The Birchwood Casey stuff isn't as good I guess?
  6. Not for SD, that's what my 870 is for. Safe queen and plinking. Also, it's close to what I originally qualified on in the USAF, so "sentimental" value if you will. Thanks for the suggestion - I'll give them a call as well.
  7. Not sure, but just trying to avoid shipping if there's a place close by. I'll give them a call.
  8. Couple of questions for you all. I have a S&W 15-6 in need of re-bluing (holster and handling wear primarily). Can anyone give me a ball park figure on what this would cost? Also, I'd appreciate recommendations of places that would do this, preferably within an hour of the Trenton area. Thanks for your help.
  9. Retired USAF Reserve and now I manage the computer suppport for a college.
  10. Another social network called "MeWe"(weird) has a "NJ Guns For Sale" group. I think some people on the board here are also there. You probably need to have an account for this link to work: https://mewe.com/group/56ad5c58e4b035bfcf99eb3a
  11. To allay everyone's concerns: he will be here early enough for us to do the transfer through an FFL. I've already contacted one to do it.
  12. Thank you all for the information! Brucin, I'll send you a PM, thanks for the offer. We decided that I will buy the Glock (never really wanted one, let the hating begin ) - as luck would have it I have a permit - until he gets his NY permit. He will be driving right by me on his way up tomorrow, which works out well. Poor guy. He was in GA for infantry officer and Ranger training, picked up the Glock while he was there, and never realized how terrible gun laws are up this way. He's from CT, but never paid attention until now. His mom (my sis) is a classic upper-middle class lefty Northeasterner and she was in a panic about his trip to NY!
  13. I need some questions answered pretty quickly. My nephew is moving from GA to NY, like, this weekend. He's active duty Army and has a Glock 19. Are there any exceptions for military personnel in NY's handgun laws? I'm reading that he needs to have a NY permit before he can even possess a handgun in NY, true? 19s have 15-round mags - again can he be excepted since he is Army? And any advice you have is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!
  14. Redundant. CA is not actually in America anymore, much like the PRNJ.
  15. http://kitup.military.com/2016/10/marines-ditch-ammo-cans-push-get-lighter.html Stumbled across this article and thought it interesting. I actually prefer the plastic cans. I know they're not as durable, but for basic storage they do the job for me. As for logistics in the field, yeah ammo cans add a lot of weight that materials science can reduce. If anll they need is a way to cluster ammo together into lift-able cubes, shrink-wrap is durable enough to do the job. The article also addresses brass though not the elusive "careless ammunition" we keep hearing about. Discuss.
  16. Dan Wesson CBOB. My first handgun and just a fantastic shooter.
  17. As with fumanchu182, I am (no longer) AD, but both my kids are. Their first year in they paid NJ taxes, however since then they both meet the "three conditions for nonresident status" and did not pay NJ taxes. (One lives in MD, the other in NM.) Hope that helps.
  18. John did a firearm transfer for me today and I just wanted let people know he's a great guy to work with and has the lowest transfer fees around. He responds quickly when leaving messages and answers all your questions. I didn't use his auction services, but it sounds like that would be a great way to buy/sell. Some great looking (non-firearm) antiques at his shop as well. Thanks again John!
  19. Just picked up a Q5 and have one range session with it. Fantastic gun and a great trigger. I'd be interested in hearing how it is with the lighter spring, though.
  20. This was recently released for 870s, eyeing one for mine: http://www.blackhawk.com/Products/Long-Gun-Accessories/Stocks/Shotgun/Knoxx-SpecOps-Stock-Gen-III.aspx Haven't seen it retail yet, so can't tell you what the street price is like.
  21. Awesome Howard, absolutely awesome.
