  1. Here in Mercer the community college occasionally offers a beekeeping class (as does Snipes Farm just across the river from Trenton). You may want to look into something like that in your area.
  2. It's sitting on my DVR right now. I've been waiting to hear opinions - I was concerned History Channel would completely screw this up, like they did with Vikings.
  3. Thank you to all who weighed in. Looks like a P-07 is in my future!
  4. I've seen these handguards around and love them. Time for me to build a new AR just so I can incorporate one of these! But which one.... Oh, heck maybe I'll build more than one. http://thebrigade.com/2015/01/27/unique-ar-has-some-impressive-handguards-20-photos/
  5. So, I am starting shopping for a new (9mm) handgun and after handling a few out there, it's come down to the CZs or the FNs. Looking for your opinions, either way. Yup, I know one of the four is a striker. That may increase the FNS' prospects as I do not own a striker-fired gun but am a firm believer in diversity for diversity's sake. This would be used in USPSA and IDPA, btw. And, yes Sigs are awesome, or they suck. Glocks, the same. Walthers are fabulous. Or not. 1911s are the best thing since sex, or the worst since marriage. Those four are not part of this purchase cycle (unless a P226 Elite pops up for about $500) Thanks in advance for the impending flame war.

  7. Classic Marine Kabar is solid choice. Comes in plain edge or partially serrated. Probably best bang for the buck. http://tinyurl.com/pflcfdyhttp://tinyurl.com/pflcfdy
  8. Just a gallery of some guns with amazing art worked into them. Most is not to my taste, but impressive nonetheless. Plus a couple of distractions that are normal in the galleries at The Brigade. http://thebrigade.com/2015/01/19/guns-and-art-go-hand-in-hand-40-hq-photos/http://thebrigade.com/2015/01/19/guns-and-art-go-hand-in-hand-40-hq-photos/
  9. Well, so much for that: Army Rejects M9A3 Proposal, Opts for New Pistol
  10. I can't find the press release on their webpage. I copied it off their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ewing-Police-Dept/273929365967562 Here's a link to the Times of Trenton story: http://www.nj.com/mercer/index.ssf/2015/01/police_nyc_man_shoots_himself_in_the_face_inside_house_he_broke_into.html#incart_river
  11. This played out strangely. The weirdest part (for NJ) is that the gun owner wasn't arrested, you know, because gun. PRESS RELEASE: On January 5, 2015 at approximately 2337 hours, Ewing Patrol Units were detailed to a residence in the 200 block of Ewingville Road on the report of a burglary in progress. Upon their arrival, they found the actor lying face down on the ground inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the cheek/jaw area. The actor was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center (Fuld) by Ewing EMS. Investigation revealed that the actor (Dwayne Jackson, black male, 48 years old, hgt 6’3”, wgt 250 lbs, West Central Park North NYC) was in the area visiting his girlfriend. They were at a friend’s house on Arden Ave (Ewing) when Jackson began acting in a strange manor (sp). Jackson then left the residence running on foot. A short time later, Jackson approached the victim’s residence, knocked on the door and asked to use the phone. A female resident (72 years old) told Jackson that he could not use the phone. Jackson then asked how to get to Trenton. He was told how to get to Trenton and the female resident attempted to close the door. Jackson blocked the door from being shut and forced it open. Once inside the residence, Jackson went straight to the kitchen area, went through the drawers pulling out a cake spatula and attempted to slit his own throat. When that did not work, he grabbed a butcher’s knife and stabbed himself in the stomach. The male resident (76 years old) came out of his bedroom with his .357 handgun. Jackson lunged at the male resident and a struggle ensued. The homeowner discharged a couple rounds however he did not strike Jackson. Jackson was then able to wrestle the gun away from the male resident at which time he turned around, put the gun to his chin and fired one (1) round. Jackson has been charged with robbery, criminal trespass and weapon offenses. Bail has been set at $100,000 full. Jackson is in stable condition at the hospital. The homeowners were not injured during the incident. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information pertaining to the incident as asked to contact Det. Pat. Holt at 609-882-1313 ext. 5571 or the Tip Line at 609-882-7530.
  12. Like the topic title says. Some fun pix. http://sploid.gizmodo.com/the-most-famous-weapons-cut-in-half-1676782092
  13. Actually, no. This isn't being offered as part of the Army's "shopping" for a new handgun. It's more like "We have a new version of the car you're currently leasing and can offer it to you for no change to your existing lease." To quote the article, "They are being submitted via an Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) in accordance with the terms of the current M9 contract." The M9A3 isn't a competitor for the MHS (at least, not yet. And I don't see it fitting the requirements the Army has put forward anyway).
  14. Beretta is offering this as an engineering change to their existing contract, not as an entrant in the Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition the Army just announced. Some nice changes, nothing earth-shaking though. Still want an Inox, but may need to get one of these once they offer them to the public. 15. Trying local brews as I travel has become a small hobby for me (like I need another.) I'm no connoisseur, by any stretch, but it's enjoyable. Not drinking it today, but had a Duckpin Pale Ale from Union Brewing Co. down in Balmer (Baltimore) last week. I thought it was an excellent, citrusy, beer. I'd like to try some of their others. Last night was a Two Roads Road to Ruin Double IPA up in CT. Also very good, but not as distinctive. I tend to like beers a little "hoppy" and less like something I can buy anywhere.(Sometimes a LOT hoppy, i.e. River Horse Hop Hazard.)
  16. Those look great! May need to get one for my son. They are proud of how tough they are to open. In fact, you can request the entire box be wrapped in duct tape.
  17. I'll complain about Mitsus. I have a one, with a heat pump. Died last winter and the repair shop replaced most parts and it still doesn't work. Spent nearly a grand for nothing. And parts took a LONG time to arrive. Not happy. It's out of warranty, too and they're expensive to install/replace (though that's true of any mini-split, I guess).
  18. This may help your decision: WA woman wins $90M Powerball, plans to buy Subaru Forester
  19. For selfish reasons, my main charity (and Amazon Smile charity) is the That Others May Live Foundation. Second is the USO (also somewhat selfish as I have benefited from them during my service time and my former First Sergeant is heavily involved in Liberty USO.) and +1 for Fisher House, another great charity.
  20. Ha ha! Sounds like my last car shopping project! My choices were a BMW 335i xDrive and a Nissan Frontier. Frontier won. More relevent, my wife drives a '12 Forester and it's a great car and holds a good amount of stuff. Great in the sloppy stuff, though the AWD adversely affects MPG. I've had 3 Subies (Brat, Legacy and now Forester) now and all were/are solid vehicles.
  21. I miss my '67 Mustang convertible constantly. But what I really want is a Shelby GT350H
  22. Can definitely vouch for Rossis. I have a 16" Rossi 92 in .357 and it is a fun little gun. Wish I was in the market right now.
