    Century Arms

Correct. IIRC Tim, you are one of the guys that got a good G3. For every good one there are three messes in circulation. Century's Galil clones where so bad that they stopped making them for years. Oddly enough I've never read anything bad about their old FALs. On the other hand the early SAR series rifles were the only ones to be built on genuine AKM receivers. At the time these were the only military grade factory stamped aks on the market. But they could have their issues (less severe and easily corrected) as well.
  2. We found a very large one in the garden last year, first one I've seen in a long time.
  3. Go with the MAK, Norinco has always made a quality rifle. Ironwood makes angle cut buttstocks so you can lose the buttholestock.

    Bushmaster ACR

The one that I handled didn't have the bottom ports machined.
  5. Joni, are you going to this? It's been a long time my friend.
  6. Only the SLG series were made on saiga receivers.
  7. I hate the homo furniture on the second one but at least it has mag dimples.
  8. Upgrades are the saddle/bag which isn't as awkward as it looks and the Surefire grip(I'll take more pics if you want). The grip is wider and less comfortable then earlier models in my opinion.
  9. Wish I would have bought one when they were $1200. The ones I've seen look very well made. The only complaint I've heard is the heavy trigger.
  10. Only the first run in a series would have straw, later models of the same year would not. To see if the gun has been reblued use a high quality chrome polish on whatever part is in question. Use a very small amount. If anything other than rust transfers to the rag, it has been refinished. Good score, Lugers are fun!
  11. Thank you Ray that's quite a compliment, but that was the 50 yard line.
  12. I didn't realize this was a thing. I'm meeting up with lunker first thing in the am. I am also a R14 member.
  13. There was some talk a few years ago regarding an optic. I saw a photo of it but did not recognise it as military kit. I am by no means an expert on Soviet era NV. But I have been dealing with NSPU series optics for some time. This of course led me to various other combloc NV equipment. Over the years I've handled dozens of examples and spoken with many collectors, importers, soldiers, and shady characters. I've never before or since heard a word about radiation.
  14. My personal interpretation of the law is completely different and I will not debate it here. What I stated is fact as the law does not indicate manufacturer or model but only uses the word "type". Six simple words without any explanation. What you have done is read into those words and formed an opinion of what they mean. That's all well and good but it does not make it fact. Until the Attorney General elaborates on those six words giving a clear definition. I will not accept the thought that an rifle is illegal simply because it is stamped AK47. As the law does not state that..in plain black and white.. you SAY that but you are merely interpreting the law as YOU read it, just as I am.. the law SPECIFICALLY says.. the law SPECIFICALLY name Avtomat Kalashnikov rifles as being a banned type of rifle.. so when i read that it says.. THIS type of rifle is an assault rifle.. and is therefore banned.. wasr.. saiga.. etc.. are called something entirely different.. making them not "Assault firearms" providing they are not substantially identical to an Avtomat Kalashnikov this is merely an interpretation of NJ's vague law... but it DOES name "AK" guns as being banned... in plain black and white.. is an AK 101 banned under NJ law? I would think so the law names "Avtomat Kalashnikov" rifles as being banned... an "AK" is a "Avtomat Kalashnikov" where a Saiga is NOT.. a wasr is NOT...
  15. Not familiar with the arm, if it's over 50 cal it's a DD, no go. If it's fifty or under go for it.
  16. Thank you. Updated 1pn58, probably built in the late 70's-early 80's. I've handled many of these scopes over the years(including the 1pn34&51). And this example was the best I've ever seen. The fish eye and grain weren't bad at all and I could spot deer @ 100 yards on a starry night clearly. By no means good NV by western standards but for combloc it's awesome. ETA. Here you go, this asshole stole a few of my pictures. http://www.dragunov.net/1pn58.html
  17. The Clayco is a preban arm make in the early 80's, the company would become Norinco. I bought it in 1989. The inrange arms were built in the early 2k during the Federal AWB. This is them.
  18. Let's take this one step further. Nowhere in any New jersey firearm law does it state that an arm stamped with AK47, AK74, AKM, AKS, etc is illegal. And to those that keep saying that it is.... PLEASE STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION. FFDP82, my old Clayco was stamped AKS and my Inrange arms are built on Global Trades receivers, both of which are stamped AK74.
