    Howdy

Hey I grew up in Howell, Howell High grad as a matter of fact. Lived in Candlewood before I enlisted. TC I lived in Candlewood prior to moving to Passaic County!! I miss Howell.
  3. Umm, yes! We get rid of the Torch and got Lousyberg, WTF people!!
  4. Slingshots are illegal in NJ without an FID. You can't legally hunt with them or discharge them in any "no discharge" area. Just like BB/pellet guns. BTW, you didn't mention what kind of birds they are. If they're a game bird, there's a legal season, and taking any out of season would be considered poaching and you could be fined. Check the Fish & Game regs. Yeah, it's a PITA here in PRNJ Ken Holy crap, I knew about bb guns requiring an FID, but slingshots??? Damn! My late brother and I were illegal way back in the 80's!! Good to know we broke the law...
  5. You'll find that on many other gun forums. It's ancient greek and approximates "Come and take 'em" (so I've read, and the internet is ALWAYS right) OOPS, forgot my manners, WELCOME!
  6. Guys, really, you're so ...... political....... Obama has been great for guns..... Have you looked at Ruger's stock price since 11/4/08?????? And as a result of him, I now own XX% more guns than I owned before his administration, and if it had not been for him, I might NEVER have gotten my FID or PP's! BTW, I was an NRA member way back in the 90s but never owned. (tongue in cheek, just for those who can't read 'humor')
  7. I'm going to look into Riverdale. I could almost walk there.

    Sarco

I stopped by Sarco in Sterling after stumbling upon them via the net. I was impressed with the varied inventory. The (one) counter help was occupied with someone else and their purchase and I waited my turn. Counter help was respectful, helpful and knowledgeable. I like what I saw and I will go back to purchase a Rock Island 1911 for sure.
  9. I had not even considered a rifle until I went to an indoor range that allowed it.
  10. Tom, Do you have to be a member or is it open to all? -Dan
  11. Right now - just at the Bullet Hole. I have to make my way to Bayonne and see what the deal is there. xd40 and 10/22 and you?
  12. I wish there was an incentive for reduced membership cost if you volunteer first... In any case, I might just show up saturday even though I'm not a range member, just to help out.
  13. Ron, I will see you this summer. We're building a summer place in WWC.
  14. Sorry maksim, I work in CAD, I don't do photoshop, but I can print to PDF which makes it available to 'all'. I'll shoot you something this week, maybe together we can knock it out.
  15. And while I'm at it: Is anyone a member or has anyone shot trap at: Chester Game Association http://www.chestergame.org/
  16. NJ-Tom, please share with us how you obtain these reward certs and coupons. Regards, -Dan
  17. Maksim, I'm working on a silhouette target, I'll pm you when I'm closer to printable and maybe you can give me some pointers and I'll post it up (obviously for free) likewise.
  18. My cousin took me to an indoor range in CT ~15 yrs ago. Started me on a 22 (woodsman I think), and worked me up to 38/357 with a wheelgun, up to a 9mm semi finally to his colt 45acp. It got me hooked and it took the election to get me off my a(oops) behind. I got the permit without the wife's knowledge, and had hell to pay for 2 wks until we worked that out. I've also got a 10/22 and a 12 ga. She goes with me to the range now and she has fun shooting the 22. Next purchase will be a mark 3 or buckmark or 22a in that order (unless i can find a reasonably priced woodsman) so she can shoot a pistol comfortably. She took one shot with my xd, that was enough for her...
  19. Anyone a member there? Particulars?
  20. You have a point. Perhaps I just stumbled upon a good guy or what, but my first pistol, an XD NIB was purchased this Feb from a gun store. I (at the time) did not know about gunbroker, etc or FFL. I paid $495. I would challenge anyone to find another for that, in this market, at this time. Granted, the owner said he ordered it for a LEO who decided he wanted a xd45 after (my) xd came in, so it may have been 'priced to move', but it seemed dang good to me, especially after looking at gunbroker since (or other gunstores even). Has the owner of that gun store made a customer for life despite his very very very small inventory and very very inconvenient hours? You can bet that's a yes. I have to ask him how much for an FFL too, i would love to send more business his way. He was more than nice to a NOOB. Another point not often mentioned is to consider searching on the internet auction sites for the guns you are looking for in state if possible thus eliminating cost for shipping and ffl. I'd rather pay $20-40 more for an instate gun rather than incur the cost of shipping AND ffl.
