  1. currently a member of the South Jersey Shooting Club, when my membership expires I will not be renewing. Looking into Cumberland Riflemen or Mullica Hill Rifle and Pistol Club.
  2. The IDPA divides automatic handguns into 3 divisions. The caliber, the action of the firearm and shooter choice determine the division in which a shooter competes. The division determines magazinee capacity, but none exceed 10 rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber. All Auto's have to fit within an IDPA box and have the lid close. No compensaters or ported barrels. No oversize mag wells, No weighted magazines, No add on weights like heavy guide rods. Stock Service pistol must be 9mm or larger, double action, double action only or safe action. Max unloaded weight 39oz. Magazine is not to be loaded past 10 rrounds. Enhanced Service Pistol is anything that qualifies as a Stock Service Pistol, must be 9mm or larger, max unloaded weight of 43 Oz. Mag not to be loaded past 10 rounds. Custom Defence Pistol, must be 45 cal, Max unloaded weight of 41oz, Division Capacity 8 rounds in the magazine. My XD45 can hold 13 rounds in the magazines. I usually shoot in CDP and load the mags with 8 rounds, but I can also shoot in ESP and load to 10 rounds. Since the XD is single action it does not qualify for SSP. A 45 Glock can be all 3. A 1911 45 is only CDP. This is an attempt to ensure people are competing based on skill and not on equipment. Club level shoots usually require around 50 rounds, some more, some less. I try to keep my shoots around 50 minimum, but shooters are allowed make up shots, unless otherwise specified. I usuallly bring 150 rounds with me so I have enough to shoot twice if time allows. You need 3 magazines. 1 in the gun and 2 in a double magazine pouch. You can bring another with you for the purpose of topping off the gun. I load 7 to division capacity myself. The second Saturday in June I am running a home defence IDPA shoot at the South Jersey Shooting Club in Winslow Twp. Come out and check it out for yourself. Ron

Springfield XD Tactical, 45 cal, Tru-glo TFO sights and a mounted streamlight.
  5. No beginner luck curve. You can read about the classiifier on the IDPA website. IDPA non members can shoot the classifier and once they join, they're classified. http://www.idpa.com/Documents/IDPARuleBook2005.pdf To regester for our classifier click the llnk aannd choose a start time. Spots are filling up quickly. http://www.southjerseyshootingclub.com/Activities1a.htm
  6. There are a few Glock Custom shops that will cut a few centimeters off the bottom of a Glock 17 grip so that it will fit the 15 round Glock 19 magazines. This is the only way I know of that will convert the Glock 17/34 to hold 15 rounds and not fall into somee grey area in NJ llaws. If the mag is perminatly altered it becomes NJ compliant, but I don't want to be the one who tests this in court.
  7. The club is in Winslow Twp, Camden County. The IDPA classifies shooters by skill level, so a new shooter is not competing against a master class shooter. An IDPA shooter needs to be clasisified in order to compete in state/national competitions.
  8. We will be running an IDPA Classifier on Saturday 5-9-09. Pre regestration is required. Select a start time. Room for 30 shooters. www.southjerseyshootingclub.com
  9. BENELLI NOVA!!!! I have used mine for skeet, trap, sporting clays, pheasant/duck/goose hunting and I recently used it in my first 3 gun shoot. It is accurate, reliable and will shoot anything from old/unknown relooads to 3 1/2 inch Magnum slugs, no problems at all.
  10. A few guys from my club and I are heading to Delaware County IDPA Monday night at 5pm. http://www.pennjerseyidpa.com/areaclubs ... dpapa.html Come out and Join us. Ron

    Cavalry Arms?

Cav arms produces (mong other things) a Cav-15 carbon fiber lower which is a single piece lower, grip, and butt stock. I's lightweight, strong and can come in a varity of colors. I have not complleted my upper for my Cav lower, but I have put my Armalite upper on my Cav lower and tried it on the range without any problems. July 1st my baby is scheduled to arrive. Cav Arrms is going to make a blue or pink lower with the kids name and birthday engraved on it. (we wanted to be surprised about the sex, otherwise I'd already have the lower on order.)
  14. Favorite: Springfield XD Tactical 45, TFO sights. (My IDPA/comppetition gun.) Kimber 1911 - 45acp Glock 34 - 9mm Ruger GP100, 6" 357 Ruger 22/45 22lr S&W Walther PPKS 380 acp, (my carry gun when I enter the free USA.) Reprroduction 1851 Navy, 44cal blackpowder revolver. (5 minutes to load, but cool nontheless.) I want a 357 revolver with about a 4 inch barrel for use in IDPA matches.
  15. I'm happy to see there is a site specifically for NJ firearms owners. I't good to see some familiar names. I'm Ron. I shoot at the South Jersey Shooting Club where I'm a Range Officer and in charge of the IDPA shoots.. I've been traveling to other ranges in the area to check out their IDPA shots, or annything else that sounds cool.
  16. The IDPA rules state you can shoot a match without being a memmber, but they want you to join after shooting a match. That benng said, mmost of the clubs in the area don't push the issue. You have to be a member and get classified to shoot major matches. IDPA equipment has to fit close to the body and be concealable, the rules bet pretty specific but that is the basic idea. I run the IDPA shoots with www.southjerseyshootingclub.com the second Saturday of each month. Come check us out. All are welcome. Ron
