  1. Ooops, missed the "YES" coming out of Grenade Launcher at the very bottom. I'll fix that.
  2. I guess. Your rifle isn't illegal, your magazine is. An AR-15 with a 100-round magazine is still a legal rifle, right? I'll think about how to include that, maybe as a note.
  3. Here is a flowchart that attempts to answer the question we all get all the time: "Is this rifle legal in New Jersey?" Please check it out and see if you think it's right. Did I miss anything? Once we get it right, I'll release it to the public domain and anyone can use it. -Dave
  4. If you own a business that takes credit cards and you don't know how much you are paying, you might want to pay attention. You can spend or save a lot of money. Amex is unusual; for many businesses it is the cheapest card to take, or the same as MC/V. Discover is usually the most expensive, except for some businesses when it is the cheapest. A popular restaurant I am very familiar with is charged 0% by Amex. In return, "they only take American Express" (although they will take others if really pushed). Amex also prints their menus and pays for part of their advertising. You need to decide on a credit card strategy and negotiate it.
  5. Maybe in your store at this time, but in Woodbridge you have always (well, in the past 10+ years) had to show a FID for any ammo, handgun, rifle or shotgun. Just like Scrap I bought cases upon cases upon cases of 7 1/2 Target Club shells. I used to buy 5 cases at a time every time I drove by and they had the sale. Needed the FID every single time. Didn't need to do the walk of shame because they had to use a hand truck to get my ammo to my car.
  6. I was going to make the same offer...
  7. I am only buying guns for which 10 round magazines ARE NOT available.
  8. Yes, and a bayonet lug at the same time. The "dangerous features that make a gun an assault weapon" rules only apply to semi-automatics.
  9. Wow, mine was ordered 4/5, shipped 4/16, arrived approx 4/23. I've actually place an order since which I've also received.
  10. I also use small nylon cable ties, and they do work great. However on a recent trip to Florida (EWR -> RSW) my wife cut her cable tie and then found a "TSA has examined this bag" note card. So, they cut our tie off and replaced it with the same kind.
  11. Truth is, there are very, very few guns of which you can't get a NJ compliant version. First off, just about anything not semi-automatic is OK, so you get all sorts of neat shotguns, rifles and handguns. Nearly every handgun is legal. There are only few rifles which aren't either already legal or can't be easily modified. A more interesting list would be those cool guns that there is no way to get in NJ. AR-15 handguns is probably one. What else?
  12. OK, Box O' Truth comes through again. Oil sprayed on the business end kills the primer. However, soaking loaded cartridges with oil and other solvents did no damage.... http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot39.htm
  13. No, because (so far) all limits in capacity (and, in fact, all limits as to features, flash hiders, adjustable stocks, etc) have only been applied to semi-automatic guns. Lever action, pump action, break-open action and revolver are not involved. You can have a 1000-round revolver with a flash hider and bayonet today.
  14. I might do this too with a few specially treated primers. An interesting experiment. Actually, sort of a cool science fair experiment, but you'd probably get kicked out of school and reported to DYFS.
  15. Do you know for a fact it does this? I watched a test once and soaking in WD-40 for a day left a primer which still fired...but maybe I didn't understand what I was seeing, or the test might have been fudged.
  16. Mexico has tougher rules. The pair of nail clippers I carried on 100's of flights around the world was a problem for Mexico. They made me break off the file piece, and then they let it on the plane. I still have those clippers, and whenever I go for the file to clean under my nails I remember that day.
  17. It turned out I was looking for something like a 627. However, I bought one on GB after trying a few local stores and I'll have it tomorrow or Saturday. Thanks, Dave
  18. You may also have to deal with their confusions about what is legal in NJ and what is not. I bought a Savage 110BA in 300 Win Mag from Cabelas in Hamburg, and just as the gun desk work was about to be complete, a young woman who had not been involved in the sale came out to tell me that the gun was illegal in NJ and I couldn't buy it. Took a while to find out that they figured it was illegal because of the flash hider, but of course it is a bolt-action gun and so that doesn't matter. They were insistent, but friendly and trying to be helpful. Finally I looked up the NJ assault weapon definition letter on my phone, sent them the link, a bunch of guys in manager outfits (where did they come from?) went into the back room, and 30 minutes later opined that it was OK for me to buy it. Props to them for taking the time to figure it out and being willing to change their beliefs, but it was a PITA. So, you can buy any NJ long gun, but make sure you can prove it's NJ legal.
  19. I had a dog that I loved very much, but we had problems at home so we found a great family nearby with a bunch of kids who were great with the dog, so the dog moved in with them. The great thing was that we still pet sitted for the dog a few times a year for a week. This was a great arrangement all around. One week during the heat of the 2012 summer, we got the dog for a 2-week stay. The second day we noticed the 2-year old dog was peeing blood and just not moving. So, the dog went to the great emergency vet hospital in Raritan. I get a call from my wife at 6pm, "Dog is close to death, $1000, ok?" I get a call from my wife the next morning, "another $1000, ok?" Another call late that night, "Another $800 for XXX, ok?" After 4 days, I'm into the dog for $4k. Now, I would have paid whatever I could to get the dog better, and fortunately I had the $$. BUT, the owners (who were incommunicado in Israel) would not have had the money, and the dog probably would have died. I got them to get health insurance. Not for the routine care, but for super emergencies like this. I don't know what they got or if it would have covered this, but I feel better. Turns out the dog got heat stroke, kidneys shut down, etc. She was OK (and still is).
  20. After visiting 3 local stores today I bought exactly what I want on GunBroker. Should have it Friday or Saturday and I'll post a pic.
  21. I want to buy an S&W 357 revolver. Normally I'd buy it online, but I'm not quite sure what I want so I want to feel a few guns in person and buy one that feels great. I just went over to Rahway Guild, but they had NO S&W 357 revolvers (nor Ruger). Who will have a few different models in stock? RTSP? Somewhere in the top half of NJ... I think I want 8 rounds (maybe 7) and a 4-5" barrel, but need to hold them to figure out which. I'd love to have it moon clip capable. So, where should I go?
  22. NJ Firearms Guild (aka Heritage Guild) in Rahway has a tremendous number of guns. Certainly vastly more than Ottomanellis (2x, I would guess). Maybe close to RTSP, but different lines.
  23. The "NJ" in the title was my subtle way of telling you it was in New Jersey.
  24. My Utah CCW class with GunForHire was on 1/30/14 and Charlie mails it the next day. I got my permit in the mail on 4/21/14, so it was 11 weeks and 3 days.
