  1. I was at Les's shop today picking up some ammo and he had what I think is a Sino Soviet on the shelf in almost new condition for $400.00. The sino soviets were made with Russian machinery and under russian supervision. Do a little research before you hold me to it though, it had no Chinese writing and the serial was a letter then 4 digits. That's a screaming deal if it was what I think it was.
  2. Kustomkraft in blairstown has about 5 Chinese in nice shape for $300.00
  3. It is a Yugo copy of the Dragunov. The one with wood furniture is even more sexy!
  4. It depends on the person and situation. Gotta have a good gut feeling. A prime example was about 2 years ago when I was at the range with a few Enfields. There was an old man there teaching his grandson how to shoot, and he had a slight British accent. I noticed he kept looking over at my table with interest. I offered to let him try the old .303's and started talking about how to operate the. He cut me off halfway through my speech and said "I could teach you a few things about this rifle. I carried one on Sword beach, June 6 1944." We ended up talking for hours and actually becoming friends. Now I have encountered some absolutely rediculous mall ninjas that are even happy to hit paper. Those types I am not going to waste ammo on.

Look for an 80's vintage M1a instead of tacticool. They were almost 100% GI parts and a lot better rifles.
  6. Pretty darn cool history there. If these things could only talk, imagine the stories they'd tell.
  7. Wait till the zastava m91 hits the market
  8. I think I responded to all of the PMs. If you PMd me a serial number and I missed it just PM me again.
  9. It may up being another day or so guys, I am assisting with a missing persons search outside of Philly.
  10. actually after looking at the picture again, I see the brass in the chamber still. Check your extractor and plunger. If it went to load another round and there was brass in the chamber that could happen.
  11. Oprod spring is my first bet. Get one from Orion7, they make the best! Normally fixes many garand problems. Also be sure that it is properly lubed, remember Garands like Grease.
  12. Well she went to the day spa today and is maybe the cleanest 97 around. I put the repro heat shield on and "aged" it a little bit and digging through my parts stash I found a 1918 sling, same year as the gun. So here she is cleaned up and starting to look good.
  13. well according to my books, it was at Hickam Field in December 1939..... Kinda makes you wonder if it was around for Pearl?
  14. I went by a local shop today and this was sitting neglected in the corner. Its a 1918 production WWI 1897 Winchester Trench Gun that has had the heat shield removed. So I went to Sarco and picked up a reproduction until an original pops up. Excuse the dirty gun pics, I haven't even wiped it down yet but tomorrow it is getting a day at the Spa. Needless to say I am twitchin like a humminbird on meth!
  15. I am back for the time being.... let em roll fellas
  16. Les still semi does work......if he wants to. Heck I'm his apprentice.
  17. les kraft may be a good bet, or pm me some pics and I'll look it over for you.
  18. so I am heading back to work for 3 weeks and will be out of the country. Lets put a hold on the numbers until I come back so I am not swamped.
  19. sorry but nothing comes even close in that serial number range. It seems to skip that block.
  20. The SRS books are a 4 book set that has most of what is left from the military archives. It goes back to the Civil War era and is just a listing of serial numbers you have to dig through. The data contained is small for each individual gun but is a nice insight into the history of your gun. One member's serial number was in a range of rifles that just said "San Diego City Schools-JROTC" and others have Recovered, or Recovered from KIA. There is only a slight chance of an actual hit on your serial number most of the time you can piece it together as you can see a block of serial numbers went to this place and yours falls into the block. But once in a while you find a direct hit with your serial. If looking for a set of the books, prepare for sticker shock.... they aren't cheap.
  21. Then you aren't looking hard enough or don't know what you are looking at. Sarco has some insane deals if you take the time to dig.
  22. The American books took about 10 years to get, but I will gladly devote another 10 years for russian books. But I think i have better chances of Barack telling the truth than finding a set of Russian books.
