  1. I dont know if it was a normal inventory, or when it arrived on the boat but on 03-08-43 the gun was on the boat.
  2. jon for the first one it actually is a hit.... date 03-08-43 ss mojave and here is what I found on the mojave Mojave was assigned to the Greenland Patrol in 1942, where she took part in convoy escort and rescue operations. While acting as escort for the slow group of Convoy SG-6 which had departed Sydney, Nova Scotia on 25 August, she assisted in the rescue of 570 men from the torpedoed army transport USAT Chatham. The escort and anti-submarine accomplishments of the cutters were truly vital to the winning of the Battle of the Atlantic.[
  3. Fishnut, your number isn't listed individually, but a block of serial numbers very near it shows 17th infantry. It skips serials but in the book there is a list of about 25 that show that range was 17th, so I would say it would be a safe bet to say that one was too.
  4. I recently came into posession of the SRS books, complete set, and am willing to do a serial number lookup of any USGI firearm. there is only about a 20% success rate, but it offers a nice glimpse into the history of your rifles. Just PM or post your serial number and I'll look it up. I found out that my 45-70 Trapdoor carbine was assigned to Troop A of the Nevada Territory Volunteer Cavalry in 1885 and one of my M1D's was "recovered" in Korea in 1953 so lets have fun and I'll let you know if there is a SRS "hit" but remember there is only a slim chance it will come up........................
  5. eh, yall know i am not a fan in any way of the AR, so I introduce the 6.5 Grendel SKS.....
  6. If you let it sit too long on the stock it will gum up. I let it sit normally 15-20 minutes then wipe off. If wood it dry, oil it. Afterwards I like to put a coat of howards on it. When it comes to BLO, the rule of thumb is 1 coat a day for a week, 1 coat a week for a month, 1 coat a month for a year, and once a year for the rest of your life.
  7. from the research I've done it looks like it belonged to someone in the 101st Airborne from the names of the cities they were in
  8. So I am friends with a local dealer, and he knows I have interesting tastes. So today he called me over and gave me a holster. The thing is AWESOME! I am tweaking right now. Someone was keeping track of where they were and and who they were with. Many of the marks are extremely faint, almost impossible to read but here is what I can make out. This was almost impossible to take good pics of so sorry for the crappy ones. Although it isn't correct for the holster, the Black Widow that was in the holster carried by the vet that brought his rig home is mine once my permits come in. Top Flap: England France Belguim Holland Germany Luxemberg Paris Denmark Copenhagen Bremen Bremenhaven Verdun Cpt. John J Angelini Inside Flap: NORMANDY, OMAHA BEACH! Leige Hamburg And on the Main Body of the Holster: Sgt. Jackson Sgt. Bent Rex Marsh Sgt. Yanker and many more that are unfortunately too faint to read
  9. Well, its getting to be that time of year again. So once again I am offering an open invitation to all active duty military to come to my place for Thanksgiving. As a Vet I know what it is like to sit in the barracks away from home on the holidays and can say from experience IT SUCKS. So I am offering to have any active duty come over to my place for Thanksgiving, just send me a PM. If you do not have transportation, send me a PM anyway and we will set something up. We live in the country and will be shooting some clays in the morning in my backyard, and overall just being laid back relaxing to some football most of the day. Its a relaxing atmosphere and a lot of fun. Dont be shy, dont be alone, come out and have sum fun.... just send me a PM Eric
  10. No I am not talking about Ferguson Missouri fellas but I just got some bad news from home last night. I am offshore right now but I got a phone call from my dad last night saying that a bear broke into my neighbor's barn and killed his pony and most of his chickens. The guy heard all the noise in the barn around 1am and went to investigate just to come pretty much face to face with it when he entered the barn. Fish and Wildlife has been called several times prior, as the ones around the neighborhood have absolutely no fear of people. God I cant wait for the friggin bunny huggers to start protesting the bear hunts again, friggin idots........ Be safe out there, and be aware of your surroundings everyone. This could have ended a lot worse than it already is.
  11. Many WWII officers swords were family blades that were passed down through generations to be put in military mounts and carried into combat in the pacific. If you prowl around you will find them fairly cheap. One of my blades is signed 1644, hunt around and they are out there.

    Thank you CMP

    Garands are addicting......watch out
  13. Yeah but when quality surplus .303 hasn't been on the market for several years I am going to take all I can get. .303 is a large center fire cartridge and expensive, even for surplus. It isn't a pea shooter that you can get 1k for $200. The less people that order because of past business practices = more for me! boycott all you want! I ain't shedding a tear.
  14. Well my first order came in and I was so happy I made a second order. I shoot the enfields enough that I can justify it, but I am hoping it is sold out by next payday. If not then I will start ordering a case every payday. The children are hungry. and this one wont get shot because it hasn't been shot. Unissued Savage
  15. I went to an auction Saturday and picked up a box lot of old misc ammo and this minnie ball was in the mix. The box had a bunch of Spencer and Burnside ammo plus this interesting minnie ball. It was in an envelope from Rutgers University Archeology Dept and that is all it said. It has a round ball in the base of the minie. I have done some digging and cant find anything like it, was it a field mod? Anyone know what I have?
  16. They are listed on SOG individually for between 4 and 6 hundred
  17. I just use regular wheel bearing grease. Whatevers in the tub on sale at walmart and has never done me wrong.
  18. I just picked this up from SOG. They have them at a fairly decent price and pretty darn rare if you are looking. This is the Grand Daddy of the Lee Enfield we all know and made in the 1890's. Still shoots .303 so I will see how it does tomorrow. About 125 years old and still lookin purdy.... heck I wish I look this good when I am that age.
  19. I just picked up a nice lee speed. I think this will go nicely with it.
  20. Yay! A bunch ordered. Thanks for the heads up.
