  1. Maybe the location was Fairfield Street in Montclair?
  2. I'm not here to rant, I'm only giving an answer to a question that was asked "Ideas for Gun Control'. That's my answer. I think a responsible firearm owner would secure a firearm in an expensive safe. An approved safe would be one that is more secure then a cheaper made one. We don't complain about the State making us buy automobile insurance, do we? So why complain if they made you purchase a safe to not only secure your firearms, but protect yourself.? I look at buying a safe the same way that you buy auto insurance. You don't buy auto insurance at State minimum, you buy as much auto insurance as you could afford.
  3. Here is my 2 cents. I think owning $10,000 in firearms, $2,500 in ammo, $2,000 in accessories and spending countless amounts of money on target practice and range time and then placing your firearms in a cheap safe that only cost $400 to $700 (or no safe at all) is like owning a late model Mercedes-Benz with a $10,000 stereo system, $10,000 rims with a 40" LED backlit Flat Panel with an XBOX in the trunk and living in the ghetto on Public Assistance with Section 8 paying your rent. If you can afford to shoot, you can afford to buy a real safe, that is well built, and will protect YOU, from having your firearms taken from a thief. If you can't afford to spend $2000 or more on a well built safe, then you can't afford to shoot. The same for, if you can't afford to pay rent, and you need the tax payers to do it for you. Then you can't afford a Mercedes-Benz. I would like to see a federal law pass that would require all legal firearm owners (regardless of how many are owned) to own a federal approved firearms safe. There isn't any reason for a responsible firearms owner to have a few rifles and a few shotguns leaning in a corner of there bedroom and countless handguns in there top draw. I understand a need for home protection, so 1 sidearm on you is all you should need. If you need reinforcement, the sidearm will protect you till you can get to the firearms safe. If you're not home and your home is burglarized, your firearms would be safe and will be kept out of the wrong hands. I know NJ sucks for what they do to firearm owners, but I believe they're doing the right thing. And I hate to say it, but I think the 49 other states are going to follow suit.
  4. U.S. Navy is an elite force compared to the U.S. Coast Guard. The best thing about being in the Navy is you get to cruise the world. If I were in a branch of the U.S. armed forces, and there was a war, I would want to be in the safest place in the world. And that would be on an U.S. Navy aircraft carrier. Being in the U.S. Coast Guard is like being an ESU officer with the NYPD. Everyday you kick ass, rescue people and lock-up criminals, then wake up and do it all over again the next day.
  5. I'm moving to Oklahoma. Not only did the intruder get blown away, but his partner in crime got charged with his murder. http://www.cnn.com/2...index.html?hpt= (CNN) -- An Oklahoma 911 operator calmly advised a recently widowed mother who asked if it was permissible to shoot an intruder, officials said Wednesday. "I've got two guns in my hand. Is it OK to shoot him if he comes in this door?" asked Sarah Dawn McKinley of Blanchard. "Well, you have to do whatever you can do to protect yourself," dispatcher Diane Graham responded during the incident on New Year's Eve day. "I can't tell you that you can do that, but you do what you have to do to protect your baby." In the end, McKinley, 18, fired a 12-gauge shotgun and killed Justin Shane Martin after he entered her residence, according to a Blanchard Police Department affidavit filed in court Wednesday. "You have to make a choice, you or him. I chose my son over him," McKinley told CNN Oklahoma City affiliate KWTV. Her boy is 3 months old. First Assistant District Attorney James Walters told CNN that McKinley will not be charged because she acted in self-defense. "A person has the right to protect themselves, their family and their property," Walters said. As for the 911 operator's guidance? "I would agree with that advice," the prosecutor said. Graham was the first of two 911 operators to talk with McKinley. She told HLN's Jane Velez-Mitchell on Wednesday she learned in training that she could not tell a caller to shoot someone, "(but) as a mother, I wanted her to protect her baby." "She did a very good job in keeping her calm," Grady County Sheriff Art Kell said of Graham. "Her job is to make sure the person on the phone is comfortable ... to give them support." McKinley was on the phone with a second dispatcher when she pulled the trigger. McKinley's husband died Christmas Day of cancer, Walters said. Evidence indicates Martin and Dustin Louis Stewart, 29, may have been looking for painkillers or other drugs taken by McKinley's ill husband, Walters said. Investigator found no such drugs. According to the affidavit, the men approached McKinley's manufactured home Saturday afternoon. Martin had devised a plan to burglarize the residence, police said. Stewart told investigators he and Martin ingested hydrocodone about 30 minutes before reaching the rural home, the affidavit states. Martin "aggressively" knocked on the doors of the home and gained entry by hitting one of them with his shoulder, police said. Stewart said "he heard a gunshot after Martin entered the residence," and Stewart then "fled on foot." Martin, 24, was found between the door and a couch with a knife clutched in his gloved left hand, police said. McKinley said she had pushed the couch against the door to deter entry, police said. Stewart was charged with first-degree felony murder, Walters said. If during the commission of certain offenses, such as burglary, a death results, an individual can be charged in the death, the prosecutor said. Kell said Stewart is in jail, with a bond hearing scheduled for Thursday. CNN's calls to Blanchard police were not immediately returned Wednesday. Stewart's attorney, Stephen Buzin, told CNN he will seek bond. Buzin would not comment on specifics of the case against his client. "We will let the facts come out at trial and feel comfortable with his innocence," the attorney said. Martin apparently had approached McKinley's home a couple days before her husband died, saying he wanted to introduce himself, Walters said. He said McKinley was on the phone with authorities for 21 minutes. "She remained as calm as one could under the circumstances and had the forethought and called 911, as everyone should," he said.
  6. This is crazy how these guys wave guns around in celebration with there finger on the trigger. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2011/10/23/rivers-gadhafi-killer-celebrated.cnn
  7. I'll be heading there in the next few weeks. thanks
  8. I do a few of these every October. Have you been to this one and how long is the walk through? One of my favorites are Field of terror. Don't bother with Terror behind the Walls unless you like to wait 5 hours in line and see not much for about 25 minutes.
  9. Salt water tanks are rather expensive and should be kept by an somewhat experienced hobbyist. You could get into thousands of dollars for a larger tank. One thing to consider is if your home is cold in the winter and hot in the summer. What I mean is in the summer some people will keep there air conditioner off while there not at home. If you do that, the tank can go up a few degrees in temperature. Saltwater fish are very delicate to water and changes. If your water constantly changes in as little as 3 degrees in ether direction all your fish will die. Not only will a saltwater tank need a heater, it will need a chiller too. A small chiller will run you $300 and they go up to over $800 for larger units The chiller along with heaters will keep the tank at a constant temperature and your fish stress free. You will also need 2 heaters at about $30 each. The reason you use 2 heaters is, if 1 heater dies, the second heater will keep the temperature so the fish will live. Fresh water fish aren't as pretty as saltwater fish, but fresh water fish are tanks and hard to kill. If one saltwater fish gets sick, there is a good chance every fish in the tank will die, and saltwater fish aren't cheap. If your still interested in a set up I suggest you shop online for the best prices. My 2 favorite sites are: That Pet Place Big Al's You will not find another place to beat there prices.
  10. The Verrazano Bridge is owned by the MTA, not Port Authority. The Verrazano has been $13.00 for some time now. You could have went over the Whitestone Bridge and paid $6.50 and took 95 south into Jersey.
  11. You pay only one toll when going to Manhattan or the Bronx and you don't pay a toll to cross back into Jersey because these tolls are owned by Port Authority . If you cross into Brooklyn or Queens, you pay another toll and if you want to go back to Manhattan or the Bronx, you need to pay a toll once again, these tolls are owned by MTA.
  12. Note to self: shoot the sucker in the head before handing the money over...
  13. Yes, the new toll rate for cars will be $12.00, but for trucks it will be $13.00 per axle. A tractor trailer will now have to pay $65.00 to get into NY. Even if you never go into NY again, you will still pay the toll increase because truckers will have to raise there rates for delivery's, and in return, the merchants will have to raise there prices on there merchandise.
  14. Why on earth would you plant drugs, he will get off with a hefty fine. I would plant a magazine loaded with hollow points in the glove box of his car (2C:39-3. (f) Prohibited Weapons and Devices). You need to remember, this is Jersey and the hollow points alone will get him a third degree crime punishable by 3 to 5. And if he is a felon, he will also get slapped with 2C:39-7 (Certain persons not to have weapons) this is a fourth degree crime punishable by 18 months
  15. Realistically you may be 32 before you find yourself employed for any police department in NJ. You have a lot of police officers laid off at this monument. It may take years to call all the laid off police officers back to work, and townships cannot place any new hires until the current list is called back. With homeowners fleeing the state because of high taxes, the townships cannot afford to hire new police officers even if they wanted too. We are in a big mess, and until or nation becomes stabile, you will not see any police department hiring new hires.
