  1. OK... So I called again today. "It's in the pile to be processed..." "What does that mean?" I asked. The reply? "I have no idea... They'll call you when it's ready..." Not the friendliest of people either. It is now day 120. Oh... And never received a reply from the email to the Mayor... This is so ridiculous and we have no power to speed this up. What does everyone think about having an attorney make a call? What does this usually cost?
  2. I'm interested as well. Hopefully the class isn't filled up yet...
  3. So here is a good one... I am having a hellish day at work so I figured I would rub salt in the wound and check on my permit application. Today is day 93. So I was told that all my paperwork is in and it has to go to the Lieutenant. What? "On October 18 (yes I am now keeping a log of phone calls) you told me it was with the Lietenant...It's day 93..." Her response: "Oh there are people waiting WAY longer than that..." "You know since the mayor cut staff we are really short handed...." I am so sick of this. I can't stand having to be nice and beg for something that is MY RIGHT to have. I have to tell them I am not upset at them, etc. etc. so I don't get put at the bottom of the pile. This is so ridiculous. I knew I shouldn't have called during a bad day.
  4. Welcome from another Jacksonian. We lost our Gereman Shepherd last March (She was 13)... Looking to get another this time next year. We're slowly but surely building up the Jackson contingent here on NJGF... Oh, and I joined CJRPC back in July.
  5. No response to my email to the mayor. Will check SPAM filter at work tomorrow morning but I doubt I will find anything. I'll let you know if I hear anything. 90 days is totally ridiculous.
  6. Just called again.... Tomorrow is day 80. That is day 80 from me giving them the Morpho receipt for fingerprints ( the application was submitted two weeks prior to that). It is "with the Lieutenant so it will still be a while..." I asked, "What is a while? We are at day 80 already." She didn't know... "The lieutenant reviews everything in your file..." "Then what?" I asked... "then it goes to the chief for signature..." Last time it was 90 days. If it takes more than 90 days I am going to be pretty upset and I think from now in I will just keep putting permit requests in just for the hell of it. I will be emailing the mayor this afternoon. I am really starting to get tired of this state...
  7. Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. I just recently read Rawles' Patriots and One Second After (an EMP scenario). Interesting reads, both. I have them to lend out if anyone is interested.
  8. So quick update. I called on Sept 14. My references got their letters on Friday. Hmmm... Sqeaky wheel...
  9. So in this hypothetical demonstration... If it was done with proper planning and forethought...(I.E. notifying the Law Enforcement of the particular city of your intentions, have the 100 or so demonstrators be ready to be arrested for breaking the law and all that is associated with it, etc.) and it was indeed carried out intelligently and peacefully, then yes I would support it wholeheartedly. "The SWAT team that shows up to gun them down?" Really? I wouldn't want to be associated with anyone or any group that would "cheer" such a thing.
  10. I am thinking that the Rosa Parks argument falls short of what is being discussed here. Rosa Parks defied the law and through that, a whole movement was invigorated. A bus boycott ensued and she went down in history as a hero to civil rights changes in this country. This gentlemen did not (presumably of course) purposely obtain an illegal magazine and purposely leave it on the beach as some sort of political statement and a call to 2A supporters to rally behind him. I agree with your train of thought here but I don't believe the Rosa Parks argument is valid in this case. And history has shown that defying the law has led to some major changes but it was usually done with forethought and careful planning. I hope everyone who agrees that all of our NJ ridiculousness is just that is a contributor to one if not many pro 2A causes.
  11. I applied for 3 permits the last week of July. Had to wait til August 1st for new prints. I called on Sept.1 and was told "we are very short staffed and are backed up..." I called again yesterday and was told "We are still waiting for a few things, we'll give you a call..." I know my references haven't received their letters yet ( I work with both everyday)... I will now commence calling once a week. Last time I applied for P2P's it took 90 days...
  12. I will be out of town that Fri and Sat. Damn.
  13. That is a huge gesture. Count me in. I am also willing to travel if need be.
  14. That is great info and something I was wondering about. Not to hijack this thread but it seems to fit in the general discussion here. I have been looking for some first aid courses so I can learn a little more than the average bear regarding first aid. I am not looking for EMT training as I do not have the time. I couldn't find anything at say OCC or Red Cross... Seems Red Cross is mostly for CPR training which I got 2 years ago. I know the training has changed and I need a refresher. Sorry for the hijack...
  15. So we do it a little less publicly. I agree that announcing to the world that I am better prepared than the average Joe could be a HUGE mistake. But like I said, it would be nice to talk to other like minded individuals to learn something new and make sure something isn't overlooked.
  16. Count me in on this.. I have been reading all that I can get my hands on for tis subject matter. While I am not obsessing about it, I like to plan ahead. Very interested in others thoughts on this type of stuff.
  17. Wow. That looks awesome... Where do the rest of us line up to get one? Beautiful
  18. That is great news... Enjoy your time together and be sure to thank him over and over on our behalf for his service to us and our country. You both should be VERY proud,
  19. Happy Birthday. I didn't forget... Work's been nuts. I'll email this week...
  20. That thing is deader than a doornail. Sorry but it needs to come out.
  21. I'm going somewhere tonight... What do you think, Chris? Should I make the switch? I think BA may be empty...
  22. Congrats. There is nothing like it. Enjoy every second.
  23. As soon as I learn to shoot it I guess... I am going to join one of these days...
