  1. i drive a car not a pickup truck.. so if a cop ever "sees" my firearms OR even the box they are in.. something has gone terribly wrong.. there's never random ammunition sitting in plain view.. there are never ANY weapons sitting in plain view.. im not some kind of drug runner or anything.. so there will never be a "need" for an officer to search my car.. i dont break the law... I don't have drive a p/u either to the range, or when transporting guns . . . Its a SUV with windows in the back. YOU know that you are not a drug runner, but the police do not know that. Do you really think they know who is running drugs and who is not?
  2. Those ballistic tip bullets are awesome. Those are the ones with the plastic green or red tip right? You wont be disappointed! lol Pick up some coconuts . . . they were only $1.50 or so a piece, VERY MUCH worth the kaboom effect! If you shoot them with a FMJ you can even drink the milk if you put the hole near the top hahaha. Also, is it just me, or does anyone else get all excited when you see an almost empty bottle of soda, or anything in the fridge?? My wife was so grateful yesterday. . . I cleaned out the fridge, throwing out all the expired stuff. Little does she know I only did it to collect bottles! ))
  3. I meant a direct threat. IE: you can not put a bullet in 28k and shoot someone with it. It is not a deadly weapon.
  4. I have, I like to make sure it is just turned in a different direction than where the "dent" is. I rotate them a tad each time I dry fire so the firing pin has a "clean spot" of rim to fall upon.
  5. $28,000.00 is not a threat to a cop. Guns are. As GoNRA said, police officers take their safety VERY seriously. If I'm honest about them and up front that puts their minds at ease. If he happens to see a gun case while walking back to my car or back to his, there is a threat level that I don't want to cross. Perhaps I am jaded because I was a dispatcher for a police department about ten years ago, the first thing we are trained in is officer safety. If I got a call for any type of dispute the first thing to ask is "are there any weapons in the house". The police are approaching a house the guns are in the safe, but they still want to know about it. I don't see a difference between that scenario and a MV stop. They want to know about it if they are in the trunk. I am a firm believer in honesty is the best policy, and the truth usually comes out in the end. I don't want to take the chance of a cop thinking I am not being honest about guns and trying to hide something from him when I'm not.
  6. Why do I do what I do? Respect. If a police officer is standing at my door, I feel he has the right to know there is a gun in my car. If it comes out later, say as he is walking back to his car, he or she will more than likely not be happy. Why let him find them on his own. . .If a cop sees a gun in your car you are going to have a gun in your face, dragged out of the car, handcuffed, after that you'll be asked questions and legality of the gun will be established. If you tell him ahead of time it is much better for you in the end IMO. I usually drive an SUV where there is no trunk. If I have a rifle case in the car an officer is going to see it. No, I wont hide them under blankets or whatnot. . . why would I? They're legal. ymmv, this is just how I feel. Then again, I am the same guy that does not mind getting searched at the airport.
  7. Daniel, I'm thinking he is no longer a registered user? There is no hyperlink to his profile on the active topics link . . . and there is no link for his profile or PM or anything attached to his posts. I dunno tho.
  8. I have been pulled over a few times with guns in the car. I keep my hands at the top of the steering wheel, if at night I turn my interior light on so they can see inside my vehicle as they approach. Immediately after they tell me who they are, I let them know, POLITELY, " I have guns in a case in the trunk and I have my firearms ID card. " If you have nothing to hide, why hide? During every stop I've ever had, not once has the officer asked to see my guns, or even ask where I'm going, or where I'm coming from. They have also never asked to even see my FID.
  9. It was very nice meeting you today. . . I wish I knew you needed stuff to shoot, I had a trunk load of stuff you could have had! Reactive targets are definitely fun! I hear ya on the spotting scope, I need to get one as well, I was super impressed with Keith's. . . I forgot the brand but it was crystal clear. The waiting sucks, thats what I always try to go on wednesdays, 1/2 the benches are usually empty during the week, and the skeet is usually even quieter. I can remember years ago when dix was not very known, boy has it changed.
  10. Thanks Jon . . . 1911fan (darian) was not there today.
  11. Yeah, John you're right! . . . nice shot bud!!!!
  12. Maks, after looking at these pics, I think I realize why Egor's arms were getting tired, his elbows are out to the sides instead of down. He was supporting all the weight on his shoulders, instead of his elbows.
  13. Yes I did Tony!!! AWESOME round! I was hitting small apples at 200 yds! It was EXPLODING coconuts, we were finding small chunks 100yds away! Destroyed cans and stuff too, 22-250 is my new favorite round. I zero'd it in at 50 yds, and it was holding zero out to 200! Very flat shooter. hahaha John, its on the perfect side for me! All you weird righty people have a problem with it.
  14. First, the skeet. . . ( I made a slideshow, but it doesn't seem to be working on here, so. . . ) And now the rifle range. . .
  15. Very nice!!! Good luck with both. Add that to the chicks with guns thread!

    afaik we did not.
  17. Chad

    Dix 3/31?

hahaha too funny. I believe so, I have a meeting at 10, but that shouldn't take more than an hour or so.

    Barrel Rack

hahaha Love it! That looks like it works perfectly, I will be picking one up tomorrow!! Thanks for the tip!
  19. I wouldn't use wolf. . . they are dirty, unreliable, and cheaply made. Any big name rounds will be better for you. You may pay a few bucks more per box, but it will be worth it. I look at it as putting regular gasoline in a Bentley. You spent the big money on the gun, don't put cheap ammo thru it. I use wolf in cheap rifles that I don't care about, never in handguns. If all you are doing is putting holes in paper, you don't need anything fancy, just plain ol' fmj rounds. Winchester, Federal, Remington etc. ymmv
  20. Any updates Tony? I was thinking about the poor pup all day. How is the tide doing out your way?
  21. Hmmm quite disturbing. Just what I needed to see before bed! lol
