  1. Indeed.. but, since we are in fact in NJ, fighting for our rights in NJ, it would probably benefit us to express ourselves in such a way as to appeal to as many people as possible, from every walk of life... even the liberals. 95% of the people that spoke at the hearing (Nora included) were able to make their arguments without bringing up Christianity. Oh, and before I get lumped into the "all you atheists" category.. I'm an Orthodox Christian Anyway, this thread is falling way off the rails at this point. I think we can all agree that Nora did a FANTASTIC job at the hearing and was certainly one of the highlights of the day.
  2. Metaphors are all fine and dandy.. but the vast majority of people will take them literally. The problem with bringing religion (and abortion) into the equation is that it alienates much of the "middle of the road" crowd. In an earlier post you said something about wanting to see more (and I'm paraphrasing here cuz I'm too lazy to find your exact words) "rainbow colored flag folks" in the mix. That's a GREAT idea. We NEED to appeal to a more a diverse cross section of the voting public. Unfortunately, the minute we start coming across as "religious conservatives" we lose those people and we once again become a bunch of old, fat, white guys in camo clinging to our guns and bibles. Some people may like that "image", but, in the long run, it doesn't help us get those swing voters to our side. At the end of the day, the 2A battle is mostly a battle of perception. ETA: Welcome to forum, Nora
  3. You can word it anyway you want... the fact remains that while he was in office he DID sign legislation that may have clarified the law in one part, but in the another part made their AWB permanent. So yes, you are technically correct - they already had an AWB, but he helped make it worse. And let's not forget some of his comments at the time that included such winners as "instruments of destruction" with regards to "assault weapons". Romney was anti-gun no matter how you try to spin it... and yet he still got the republican nomination... Did he lose the election because he was anti-gun? Maybe. Will it cost Christie a republican nomination and/or a presidential election if he signs any of these laws? Let's hope he thinks so.
  4. I see comments like this all the time on here, and I really don't understand them. During Romney's term as Gov in MA, they passed an AWB and he still became the republican candidate for President. Sure, he didn't win in the end, but he certainly "thought of running"... so, why would it be any different if Christie doesn't veto this package?
  5. Seems to be the first one - HAGGZ51 http://www.youtube.com/user/Haggz51
  6. Another vote for the Midway bag... wait for it to go on sale tho. They're usually $40 on sale, instead of the current $50 price. Even at 50 bux, it's a LOT of bag for the money.

  9. This was one of the stand out moments of the hearing. BIG +1 for you, sir!
  10. I like how they disabled voting and comments. Don't think it'll make a difference, but I "reported" the video as "spam/fraud"
  11. Took the bus down from Montvale with a couple other NJGFers, and when we heard that there were ~13 no-shows on our bus, I really thought we would end up with 100 people at the rally if we were lucky. But, I was VERY pleasantly surprised with the turnout. I was also very impressed with some of the speakers. Ainsley (sp?) and the Gun Rabbi stood out the most to me. Now... I need to go soak my feet so I can maybe feel my toes again...
  12. Great buyer! Quick and easy transaction It was a pleasure meeting Melgamatic and his son

  19. If I remember correctly, one of the NJ2AS emails said the departure time is around 1:30pm. ETA: from the NJ2AS site: "All buses will leave Trenton at 1:30pm to make their trip back to your cars." http://nj2as.com/EVE...de=EventDetails
  20. Some of the buses seem to be leaving WAY too early. Montvale to Trenton is normally about 1.5 hours... but the bus is leaving at 6:30am?? Short of something that shuts down the turnpike, a 3.5 hour window seems a bit excessive.
