  1. Except that you're advertising that firearms exist. Shrug.
  2. It stinks but unless you have the resources to bring suit against the PD you're at their mercy. It took me 103 days(14 weeks).
  3. That all depends on the definition of "accessible". If you are alone in an SUV, legally it could be argued that a firearm is inaccessible to the driver. If a passenger gets in, that would change. I would think that if you have a privacy cover that would be enough. NJ does in fact have a castle doctrine. It was one of the first(and weakest). It only indemnifies you INSIDE your home and if your life was threatened. Outside of your home you have a duty to retreat.
  4. It has never been tested and it's not really an issue. It is however added on to the charges that criminals get when they hold up a liquor store. You can go to the range and use HP all your wish. I have a mag of federal Hydra-Shok JHP that sits next to my HK in the event of an intruder. I take FMJ rounds to the range simply because of the cost.
  5. One nit here about locks. Not required if in a trunk. This is from NJSP
  6. Couple minor nits Ken. To legally purchase a long gun in ANY state, as a NJ resident you are required to have an FID. You may get away with it in a distant state but they won't be legally adhering to NJ laws. That's not true. You may transfer handguns with the proper pistol permits and copies forwarded to the police. Also, technically, a FPID is only for long guns and you can get a pistol permit without getting a FPID. The process is however identical and dealers will require it. So that's a minor nit.
  7. There is no licensing or permits required for owning a gun in NJ. Move here, don't worry, be happy, you are 100% legal. Hollow points are fine as long as you don't use them in a crime. Some ranges required a Firearm Purchaser ID before they allow you to shoot(Bullet Hole), some do not(Cherry Ridge for example). You are only allowed to transport your firearm to/from Range/Gunshop/Home/Hunting/Your Business(that you own). Since you can't hunt with hanguns in NJ, that one is out in your instance. Transport laws must be followed. In the trunk/back of SUV, separate from the ammo. You will not be able to buy ammo for your handgun without a FPID. You can buy it from online retailers, some require FPID, some do not.
  8. Shooting himself at the end was a nice touch. Of course you watch...some liberal gun grabbers will want this banned because it encourages road rage or some other twaddle.
  9. Selective fire weapon? No? Not an assault rifle then.
  10. This was at PGI in Iowa...perhaps the same thing you're talking about. All the pros bring out their A game.
  11. My Brother in Law does Class C displays. Here is some of it in Iowa last week. http://www.vimeo.com/6137920 He won best of show or something last year.
  12. Have you looked at Mueller scopes? I have this: http://www.muelleroptics.com/products/MU2732IGR.html (2x7x32) on my Remington Model 5. Matt and Rich(and maybe others) have used it. I think it's perfect. Crystal clear and has a red dot if you'd like. Holds true. I got it off ebay for $139 new in box. Leupolds are great scopes but so is my Mueller. Shrug. You might just look at them. I'm really into magnification but either of those Leupold scopes will do you just fine.
  13. I have a friend considering getting her FID and I'm of course encouraging this. Any one know how that PD handles FIDs? Are they quick or a disaster like Vernon?
  14. Hi speed cameras are great. I've used them with automation equipment. It's amazing what little bumps and such that materials go through that you can't see at normal speed. Very useful tools...very cool in this case.
  15. What do you call the people from PA that were pissing me off all weekend? Everywhere I went some dickbag driving like they've been pithed was in front of me with PA plates. My extended family is from Cherry Hill and surrounding towns and we spend weekends down on the Bass river/inlet. Got me a big whopper of a flounder too. HUGE!!!! Just HUGE!!!!
  16. I don't know what else to call it. The damn thing is now (with the recoil pad) a hair over 55" long. I'm tempted to have it painted green with lizard scales and fiery red eyes on the stock. It shoots a lot softer now, but just lifting it and and fighting the momentum when it swings is a nice upper body workout. Yeah, and if he misses with the first shot, he just bats the clay down with the end of the muzzle.
  17. How many rounds typically before it's cut? Anyone use a large magnum round? I'd imagine a 44 mag hollow point would expand nicely and go right through.
  18. Buy your own webhosting. Post whatever you'd like. Usually about $10/month. Use a cheap computer, put it in your home router's DMZ and put some shares on it. Use dynamic DNS to route folks to it.
  19. You realize that you can adjust the reticle to put the bullet dead on at any range regardless of the parallax? They simple pick a best compromise distance and adjust it there. You just want a parallax distance close to the distance you intend to sight the gun in at. This is done so that if you are either side of that distance the firearm remains reasonable close to on target. Most rifle rounds stay flat to at least 50 yards. Weak rounds start dropping lower here, powerful rounds start to rise here. This is likely why they are fixed at 60 yards.
