  1. Since I had such great recommendations with the stump grinder guy... Any suggestions on where to get some topsoil delivered? I saw a few ads on craigslist and there are a bunch of landscape places around, but from what I've read the quality can vary a lot.
  2. thanks for the suggestions, Barry is the guy I was looking for. came right out, great price, really can't beat it.
  3. Thanks all for the suggestions. I like renting manly machines... I had someone drop the trees and then I bucked them up and rented a chipper to do the branches. That is a seriously impressive machine, and it wasn't even that big of a chipper. Renting a grinder is not out of the question, but the ones I've found are not cheap and then you have to pick it up and bring it back.... if I can get someone to grind them for not too much more, I'd rather spend the money and spend my time doing other stuff.
  4. hoping to plant grass this fall so don't want to wait around for slow deterioration....
  5. I've got four stumps I need ground down... 20-24" across. Thought about renting a machine but not sure if it's worth the trouble versus just hiring someone. Anybody done this before? Anyone do it on the side? I've got calls out to a few tree services but figured I'd check in here too.
  6. I am just outside of Hopewell and commute to New Brunswick, so that is a bit of a hike, but thanks for the offer. Yup, just planning to cover the top and leave the sides of the pile open.
  7. I stack it on pallets so I need pieces ~4' wide by ? long... I have a lot of firewood, so as much as I can get really.
  8. I'm trying to find some epdm rubber roofing to cover my firewood with... these plastic tarps just aren't cutting it anymore! Maybe you've got some scraps lying around or something you're pulling off a job that still has some life left in it?
  9. Thanks, I will look into that. It would be nice to do a bunch of of the smaller parts too before painting them.
  10. I'm restoring a John Deere 314 mower deck that is pretty badly rusted. Before breaking out the angle grinder and spending the next week covered in rust and dust, figured I should see how much it would cost for someone to sandblast the thing. Anyone know of anywhere in the central NJ area that does this? Live down near Hopewell and work in New Brunswick.

  12. I have a buddy who works in inventory at a local Honda dealership. We just happened to be talking about Hyundai dealerships this past weekend and he said that Brad Benson are massive scammers and recommended either Flemington or Freehold. Just my (his) $0.02.
  13. I euthanized one with a .17 hrm a few weeks back...

  15. A few years back my girlfriend and I took a cross country road trip for ~9 weeks in my old 1999 Nissan Maxima. We were camping at Elephant Butte State Park in New Mexico (beautiful place, btw) and had gone out to the store to grab some supplies. On the way back to the campsite there was a big line at the park entrance so I looked at the map and saw another side road that led to our campsite... figured we'd skip the traffic and take a scenic detour. Well the paved road turned into a gravel road, which suddenly turned into a beach... forward, reverse, the Maxima was going nowhere. Called the park rangers and apparently they don't tow people. Just as I was looking up the number for a tow service two guys in a lifted F150 pull up, each wearing a cowboy hat and each drinking beers. Them - "Stuck?" Me - "Yup, road turned to sand, blah blah blah" Them - "Hmm... be right back with a bigger truck." Two minutes later they came back with an even more lifted F350... hooked up a tow rope and dragged my stranded a** off the beach. From what the guys said they just sit around all day watching people get stuck and then dragging them out. A few days before a school bus had actually tried the same maneuver as I with the same results. Tried to give them a few bucks for helping but they turned me down, however they did accept a few beers.
