  1. Women can be protected from "ALL violence" if you allow them to protect themselves----legally, with a GUN! My goodness, the shear stupidity of these people.
  2. Former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords met with Gov. Chris Christie in New Jersey on Wednesday after a talk with lawmakers, residents and advocates about how to protect women from gun violence. Giffords sat down for a round-table discussion at the Statehouse and talked to the governor afterward behind closed doors for about a half hour. During the public discussion, Giffords said dangerous people with guns are a threat to women and women can lead the way on changing the laws. The meeting came about after state Democratic lawmakers introduced legislation requiring convicted domestic abusers to surrender their guns. It drew a dozen women, including Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg and Assemblywoman Gabriela Mosquera. Christie spokesman Kevin Roberts said in a statement: "Governor Christie has incredible respect and admiration for the courage and perseverance of former Congresswoman Giffords and he was honored to have the opportunity to meet with her this afternoon and discuss domestic violence and gun violence issues." Giffords survived a gunshot to the head on Jan. 8, 2011, when a man opened fire in Tucson, Arizona, killing six people. http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/gabby-giffords-women-important-push-gun-violence-29739081
  3. I flew to Dallas on Spirit for $100 round trip then $28 for seats. Cheap, cheap, cheap----
  4. There is nothing fool proof in our life and with over 100 MILLION legal gun owners the safety record is close to 100%! Why do we continue to support this kind of legislation whenever .001% are screw ups? There are always dummies no matter what, but I'm sick and tired of having to pay for their stupidity....why does .001% always dictate what the other 99.9% of society does? I believe the culture and safety of gun ownership comes from other owners with a passion introducing the heritage to others....no government mandated program can do a better job that a responsible gun owner, friend or parent. I'm the one who teaches my child to drive, I'm the one who teaches my children about gun safety, I teach them about dangers of knives, etc. How did I learn these things? From other responsible people. No one in my family owned a gun---I was the first. I had no clue when I bought it and a friend took me to the range and explained the do's and don'ts. Then I researched, asked around, took a lesson and taught my wife and kids. Then friends and others. I took the time to explain and show but everyone of them had a deep respect for firearm safety. With a government program, it's like going to school. Many will treat it as perfunctory directional advice instead of a valued heritage. Being forced to to train for a RIGHT does not make sense. Would it make sense to take classes before you're allowed to speak freely? Or a class on proper ways to be illegally searched? No---these are rights that we're born with and a right does not require proficiency or proof to be used they are inherent and not granted nor dictated by man. Once a RIGHT is defined and dictated by government it's no longer a right.
  5. This is great advice. Talk to them first because maybe they know the in's and outs of worst case/ best case scenarios. Remeber, also, once you're denied for a permit you'll have to explain "why" on every form, purchase and request for CCW. Or as someone else posted, is it possible to move to PA? Thank you SO very much for your service---stay safe.
  6. I lived in Marlton,NJ for 23 plus years before moving to PA about 3 years ago. Has someone threatened him in that area? Marlton,NJ has had some crime but overall it's a pretty safe area. Quick question, does he have to own the business in order to carry on the premises or own the property and business for legal carry?
  7. Not everyone is from NJ where they're conditioned to be neurotic about their firearms. I can see how this could happen as the more I carry the more I get used to it on me. I actually feel as if I forgot something when I go into NJ and can't carry. Imagine carrying everyday for your entire life taking it for granite----I see how this could happen. Dumb, no---careless, yes. With more laws equals more chances of breaking the law---as government creates more laws it essentially creates more criminals.
  8. I was frequenting Walmart and once in a while I was finding 40 Watt and 60 Watt for $2 each. Also, Home Depot in PA had a PECO deal where 60 Watt were $1.96 each. I picked up a bunch. Lowes has 40 Watt dimmable for $3.48 each. However, the 75 and 100 watt have not come down yet---they're $12-$16 (minimum). I switched over to all 60 watt in mt house (8.5 watts each) because I hated the look of the swirly bulbs plus they were 13 watts each for the same output. LED are instant on and look like a regular bulb. However, the main reason besides saving on energy costs are when I use my generator, I could have 20 lights on in the house and use between 120-170 watts!!! I don't even have to think about the drain on a 7500 Kw generator. Saves power for heat, stove, toaster, etc.
  9. Exactly! Why is government involved in the religious institution of marriage in the first place. I don't want them controlling, rewarding, hovering, meddling, etc in the affair of my marriage between me, my wife and God. This is a slippery slope we're on when government provides "equal protection" of groups. Obviously when one group is protected another loses a freedom. We're seeing it play out right before our eyes with the wedding cake scenarios, T-shirts, Pastor's in Houston forced to hand over sermon notes and now a Minister being sued and fined for refusing to marry gays. Government needs to get the heck out of granting rights, protecting groups "favorites that they know will vote for them), etc...this is communism/fascism to the core. it sounds pretty but ultimately when government has the power to grant and take away rights, it becomes very deadly....
  10. I think he found a loophole: "This isn't legalization, but most possession offenses have been turned into fines". Which, BTW, the irony of treating people smoking cigarettes like hardened criminals boggles my mind.
  11. Called/emailed Reps, Senators and glad to see that lawsuits can be taken against these stupid, illegal, agenda "laws". BTW, when is the Governor supposed to sign it?
  12. I agree with you as well. However, for a North Eastern state, I believe the founding fathers installed a very strong gun culture in PA. That's not to say that PA could fall before TX, but who knows. Facts: PA LTCF holders 2010: 760,000 TX 2013 CCW: 584,000 http://legallyarmed.com/ccw_statistics.htm Only Florida has more than PA.... PA may be over a million by now. Gun laws PA and more importantly the PA State Constitution: Right to Bear Arms Section 21. The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned. That is very strong wording. Carry laws PA: nothing really off limits unless the federal government says it is. Open carry is legal (sometimes a permit is needed) and LTCF (many cases) is $20 and you're in/out in 20 minutes. No mandatory training. Most guns are legal...Castle law and stand your ground. Also, PA is in the top 10 NRA membership and tops in hunting. http://www.americanhunter.org/articles/top-states-turkey-hunting http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2013/04/great_american_outdoor_show_wi.html
  13. In January it was pretty gloomy as well. I've been to all the January protests, never was able to make the springtime ones though. If Wolfe gets in, I guess I'll be at both.
  14. Very true and I read this VERY DISTURBING story this morning. BTW, tyranny does not care about votes nor does it care about freedom nor rights----it only cares about power and control. This nut case shows what happens when people in power don't care about freedom, the Constitution or liberty. BIG government does what it wants...problem is, it won't change unless the people change.
  15. I beg to differ on the gun side of things. What I believe is happening are more Libertarian types coming up through the ranks. First off, regarding women and guns: Gun sales soar among women: http://www.wgxa.tv/story/gun-sales-among-women-soaring-20140207#axzz3G8yXRvHc Female gun ownership up 77%: http://townhall.com/columnists/celiabigelow/2013/02/27/why-female-gun-ownership-is-up-77-since-2005-n1521739/page/full Boom in gun ownership: http://www.forbes.com/sites/frankminiter/2012/08/23/what-the-left-wont-tell-you-about-the-boom-in-u-s-gun-sales/ States concealed carry skyrocket among women: http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2023740786_concealedcarryrisexml.html Up until 6 years ago I considered myself a Republican as with all my friends. Within a few years, it became obvious we've been lied to by; Rinos, Dems, progressives in both parties, etc. We become more libertarian in most of our thinking...my entire "Republican" philosophy was turned "upside down". Did I go from ® to (D)? Nope, I went from typical big government ® to more open minded, freedom thinking, limited government rationale. I believe people are changing their thinking more to a way we have not seen in decades or more. Tea party, end the FED, libertarian movements, etc...Just because gay marriage is popular, most people now believe government has no place in marriage. 6 years ago that would not have even been mentioned. People are waking up to "life, liberty and happiness"...smaller government. Look at abortion, support for it has dropped drastically. Look at school taxes, people ain't buying the "it's for the children" BS anymore. Anyway, I understand what you're saying, but I believe a new sect of Americans are thinking outside of the two party system and thinking in a way, (because they see BIG government destruction) that is freedom oriented not government oriented...understand?
  16. I carry daily but avoid places I can't. With that being said, this HYPOCRITE was against CCW and supported the "safe act"....that's what makes this even more interesting! These stinking progressives disarm us so they can be the only ones armed and they get away with it!
  17. You need permanent driver license
  18. I frequent "green cells" website because I'm a techno geek. I've flashed phones, rooted, hacked...you name it. First off, I would not give Bill Gates any more money than I have to---his support for common core and give millions to Anti-Gun groups for starters. Second, I would buy a decent used phone from their site or Ebay for $150 (LG E980, S4 Active, etc) and use one of those because Windows phones lack in Apps, games, power, etc. I also find them confusing and cumbersome.... Iphones and Androids are close enough to figure out but the Windows phone seems foreign to me but I have limited use on them. Good luck...
  19. We moved out of PRNJ 3 years ago and love PA so far. There were several reason for moving: -8.97% Income tax in NJ compared to 3.01% in PA. -Car insurance $5800 in NJ, $2100 PA (4 cars) -Property taxes lower (not too much but more house/property less $$$) -Different culture...can't really describe, but less "uppity"? -Cheaper schooling for private schools. I have no idea why/how. -MUCH better gun laws and I've carried every day since moving there. -More like minded people. Even the liberals are "reasonable"...relatively speaking. We went to Doylestown and got our carry in 20 minutes. People were friendly, smiled and joked about guns. My wife was amazed that we were not brought into a room, fingerprinted, questioned, belittled, etc like we did when we got our FID cards.
  20. So no court order, no due process, no warrant...just a phone call and they come in and confiscate his property?
  21. You sir are a responsible gun owner and that's what it's all about. It's funny, I only carried a few times (OBX) and it felt REAL weird (don't even go there...LOL). I felt like I was doing something wrong. Then we moved to PA and I started carrying all the time. At first my wife and kids thought it was a bit....ummm...strange. Then after a few months my wife started carrying and then my oldest daughter. When we all go out, I don't even have to ask, I know they're carrying and got my back. The weird thing is, you become so used to it you forget you're carrying....kind of...until something does not seem right. I don't know how many times I've gotten a mile from home only to turn around and lock it up because I was going to NJ.
  22. This is exactly how I feel. "Outside the home" could get struck down, now we're all screwed and criminals will run rampant!!
  23. Moving from NJ to PA I appreciate having the right to carry and do all the time unless it's unlawful. The friends I have carry all the time as well.... once you get used to it you fell, that at least, you have a chance if something goes horribly wrong. Also, it's a humbling experience as you realize the HUGE responsibility that comes along with carrying. It's been almost 2.5 years that I have carried constantly .....unless I'm in NJ, then I'm relying on pepper spray. Wallet, phone and firearm...every time in/out of the house.
