  1. When I was in high school my best friend and I had to debate whether or not the KKK had a right to march in Skokie, Illinois. We were for the affirmative, and we won the debate. My friend is Haitian.
  2. Long time, no posts, til now. I put my wife and myself down for life memberships. I'll deal with the two girls later.
  3. I grab some coming back from fishing in Canada. Great labels, to boot!
  4. There are a limited number of openings each year (10, if I remember correctly) available for non-Waldwick applicants whose police use the range for qualifications. That's how I became a member. I had to wait for 2 1/2 years to be voted in, however, since I was lower on the wait list. PM me if you're interested.
  5. Welcome from Ramsey. Since you're from Allendale, you are eligible to apply to the Waldwick pistol range. Check it out, it would be very convenient for you. You may have to wait a couple of years to be accepted, though.
  6. As the father of two girls, my opinion is to hold off until she is old enough to understand what a rifle can do. Maybe that's not the right phrasing, but what I mean is that eventually it can be a bonding experience between you and her when she's mature enough to handle one. I bought my daughter a Rossi .22 single shot, with a switchable .410 shotgun barrel in pink. Bought it for a Christmas present, but it was a week before Newtown, so I've waited to give it to her. She's now 9, so I'll probably wait until late June to try it out with her. My point is, when she is ready, you two can share the experience of trying them out and purchasing one, together, and create memories. Besides, you'll need your cash for late night diaper runs to the store.
  7. Thanks again Scorpio. I ended up just renewing me password and logged in. Not all items had been picked.
  8. Thanks Scorpio. Do you have the email address that came with the message? Everything that I tried in the email search came up empty.
  9. As a Catholic I was raised to believe that suicide is forbidden, and I know that no matter how bad life gets you down you keep on pushing through. But as a human I have seen close friends and family go through terrible illnesses, only to die long, painful deaths, from such horrible illnesses as ALS (37 year old wife of my best friend, and my daughter's namesake) to both of my grandfathers from cancer. That's just skimming the surface. I am for patients' choice.
  10. Quick question or two. Has anyone received a shipping notification yet? They emailed me to tell me that they received my order, but for the life of me I can't find it in any folders. If anyone received the same message, could you please post the address that it came from? Thanks.
  11. Thanks for the heads up, got some .380 for the wife's pistol too!
  12. Welcome to the forum.
  13. Talked to him today, it turns out that they called him two weeks ago to let him know that they are severely backlogged. I told him to call back on Monday.
  14. So a friend of mine, a former Marine, applied for an fid in Mahwah. I was one of his references, handed it in person the day after I got it. That was back in March. As far as I know the other references were also returned in a timely manner. Here it is, the end of August, and he hasn't been notified yet. I've heard that Mahwah is usually pretty good at getting those out "relatively" quickly. Think he should start calling?
  15. Dang, no Eagle Scouts in my house. Two girls, almost 9 and 7. We try to teach them respect for their elders, saying please and thank you, and we say our prayers every night together. Although neither my wife nor I served in the military, we have friends and family who have. Our girls understand that, and they know to thank, with a handshake and a hug, any man or woman who presents themselves as a veteran.

  17. Welcome from a former resident of Mary Ave, almost on the top of the heights. Great view! Or Mary St., can't recall, that was another life ago.
  18. Thanks for taking time to respond. I don't have much land, but the neighbors do. Nothing crazy, next door neighbor has about an acre. The problem is that all the surrounding properties drain behind my property, into a wooded area that's somewhat wetland-ish. Soggy soil and leaves. I've used the Off hose spray in the past, it worked for a week or so, and every application afterwards didn't seem to do anything. I'll check up on the Thermo cell, as of now I don't know what it is. Thanks again.
  19. So now that spring is turning into summer I have already seen my fair share of the tiger mosquitoes. I live in northern nj, and my property is somewhat moist and wooded, with lots of shade. Very damp beyond the backyard. I plan on building several bat houses after school lets out next week, but I was wondering if any of you have had success with any insecticides to reduce the mosquito population. I'm looking for something that will attach to the hose and mix with the water. Keep in mind that I have two dogs and two kids. All four can be kept away from any treated areas if need be. Thanks in advance for your input.
  20. Just feed the King of the Unicorns a golden apple in exchange for him expunging your record.
  21. I think there's a Quick Check and and Exxon station at the corner of 15 and 94.
  22. Duppie, I've been following some of your posts with regards to food, and I am impressed with your experience. I'm a born and bred north Jersey boy, but I have been to Jazz fest in New Orleans 6 or so times (lost count) and the Big Easy about 11 or so times. If it wasn't for the humidity and the termites I'd be writing this post from there. That being said, Crawfishfest is the closest you'll come to an outdoors music fest with genuine N'awlins food. They ship in like 5 tons of Louisiana crawfish the night before. I've been to about 10 crawfishfests, and have seen some great bands. Unfortunately, my daughters' dance recitals have always been scheduled that same freaking weekend for the past three years. I've missed out on a lot of Meters, Cowboy Mouth, and Long Tall Marcia Ball!
  23. The good news is that the Obamacare is 100% secure. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. On a lighter note, thanks FXDX for the tips, I appreciate them!
