  1. Thanks for your input everyone, I truly appreciate it. I'm really not interested in the shorter barrel, and although I would love to have a 1940-1945 collectible, I would still want to take it to the range. That's one of the reasons I was also looking at the more recent production P1. As for the modern equivalent, I already have two Beretta 92s. One's a vertec (love it) and the other is a 92fs frame, in excellent condition, that I've never fired.
  2. One of my favorite pistols in the whole wide world is the Walter P38. Although I have never shot one, I've always been enamored of it's look and feel. I've been looking at P1s ( the postwar version of the P38) but I was wondering if any company built a modern version. Any insights?
  3. Yeah, in my town of Ramsey they went electronic...and by that I mean they put all of the forms on PDF. One would think that with our tax dollars they could upgrade.
  4. My Vertec I also have a 9mm PX4 full size, a 9mm CX4, and a 92fs frame. I like the Vertec best.
  5. And they love their fungi in Chester County...mushroom capital of the US.
  6. Update on Longwood Gardens...employment. http://longwoodgardens.org/employment
  7. My sister lives over the border in Kennett Square, PA. I think the name of the place that is near there is Longwood Gardens. It has a huge "botany" collection there, acres and acres. Try giving them a call. You'll have a toll, but it may be a job.
  8. Howard, my girls, wife and I send our most heartfelt condolences on your loss. Reading your last moments with him brought back memories of my own, most recently with my Mollie, a husky mix. He looks majestic, and loved. I don't get damp eyes too often (not since I had to put Mollie down four years ago) but your words brought a tear to my eyes. God bless his soul, he's earned it.
  9. In Christiana, that may be the case! Just joking, but I'm still pissed that the morons in the gov't of nj made the meadowlands cabelas jump through idiot hoops, and then the mall (eyesore) just went to sh-t.
  10. Which larue mount has everybody been using?
  11. God Speed, and the best of luck! My bro lives on the inland outskirts of Myrtle Beach, but knows a great "secluded" part of the beach. Pm me if you want to be introduced. A recent convert to gun ownership, he just got his first pistol, I think because of my influence.
  12. Welcome from east of you in Ramsey! Read up, there's great info throughout these forums. Good luck, and enjoy your newest passion. If it's not right now, it will be. My wife and I went through the same process over five years ago, now we're filling out fid references for friends.
  13. It does. I also picked up one of these: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hornadyreg-GS-1500-Electronic-Scale/1156191.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3D21-7813%2BHORNADY%2B1500%2BGRAIN%2BELECTRONIC%2BSCALE%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts%26x%3D18%26y%3D6&Ntt=21-7813+HORNADY+1500+GRAIN+ELECTRONIC+SCALE&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products It seems to have good reviews, and according to the tech info should be accurate to +/- 0.1 gr.
  14. Thanks for the replies, that's good to know. And Stu, I appreciate the offer, but I've been working on my own collection of dust.
  15. I'm not jumping into anything right now. I've been reading the Lee manual religiously , but I was concerned about the missing piece during shipment. As of now I have no powder nor primers. I was just trying to get advice on the piece of plastic that bounced out of the UPS truck. When my next question comes, I hope that you smack me to understanding!
  16. So I am taking the first steps towards reloading. I ordered the Lee classic turret press with extra 9 mm dies. The shipment box was damaged, bullets rolling around, and a missing dipper which should have been with the dies, which were also rolling around in the box. My question...since the press comes with an auto powder measure, do I need the dipper? Just curious, in part because I don't want to go through the hassle of sending the die set back. Thanks in advance!
  17. I've also ordered from a bunch of places without needing it, but for some reason my mind was telling me that Sportsmans Guide required it. I stand corrected. Thanks for your input.
  18. I was going to send a copy of my FID to Sportsman's Guide to get some ammo, and I'm sure some other sites as well. I was curious about whether I should include a copy of the back of the ID as well. Anyone go through this process? Thanks in advance.
  19. Ha! I was in Indianapolis at the Super Bowl when the Giants beat the Patriots (again). After the game I tried my hardest to get a Pats winner shirt, but no go. They were on the first postal flight out of Indiana to the Ivory Coast.
  20. Congratulations! Welcome to fatherhood! When are you having another?
  21. I kinda rolled my eyes when I first started reading about joining militia's. I just checked the profile info and noticed that Texas Patriot is from Waldwick. As a matter of fact, TP claims to be a member at Waldwick Armory. Now, as a bona fide member of the range in Waldwick, I can truly tell you that it is NOT called Waldwick Armory. It is the Waldwick Pistol and Rifle Club. If you were a member there, you would know that. That's like mistakenly referring to Cherry Ridge as "Raspberry Range."
