  1. in the center lane on 287 near morristown last year. The deer was huge and dissappeared into the woods, no idea if it survived or not..... the car didn't, but the insurance company gave me a good price on it
  2. i just came on here to see if i can find someone to install sights on a 1911. gunscribe, did you find someone to do yours? Did you try that guy in paterson? anyone else have any good/bad experiences? thanks,

Tim think we could get a group deal from someone if we buy a valor and a CBOB hey if you find a group deal, put me down for a heritage! i was looking everywhere for dan wessons and couldn't find one so i ended up getting a grand raptor....but I plan on adding a DW next For the original poster, I've never shot one but I've heard they are some of the most accurate 1911s you can find. Check out the 1911 forums if you haven't already, you'll see tons of opinions by people who have them.
  4. I was just coming on here today to list the sport shop. Picked up a gun there last week...
  5. don't know how some of you got such nice looking pictures...
  6. i might take you up on that offer. I'm probably going to end up applying for membership since it's so close.... When do you usually go?
  7. ahh that sucks. I'm in Hillsborough, so if I go 2 miles west it's nothing but farms. I figured since I'm out in the sticks there would be a nice big open range somewhere out here.... I guess Old Bridge might be the closest.....
  8. So i just got the call that my FID is ready and now I need to find a range. Just for pistols to start but will eventually want to bring a shotgun too. I was planning on going to Rays sport shop on 22, but I just found out its been closed for a few months now. And most of the ranges I've been able to find through google look like they are private. Anybody familiar with anything else in the area?
  9. I just got the call today. Hillsborough - about 6 weeks. Now I just need to find a range
  10. Yeah I did see in that other thread that some stores in PA will sell it without checking for a FID. OK so I definately can't buy it in NJ. But from your comment about PA does that mean I can own it, I just can't buy it here? Hypothetically, let's say I buy it in PA and then get pulled over in NJ on the way home. I have ammo in the car and no FID (but no firearm either, just the ammo)... Am i OK?
  11. Hopefully someone here can help me out. I've looked through the pages on NJ law and can't seem to find anything on this. I applied for my FID and am waiting to hear back. So I figure I might as well start looking for ammo now since it might take a while to find it (45 acp). It'll suck if I get my FID and gun, and then have to wait a month to go to the range cause I can't find any ammo. So can I buy/own the ammo without a FID?
  12. I've had my bike licenses a few years but never got one, I was looking to buy a used cruiser a few months ago... something like a vstar 1100.....i love the all blacked out harleys (street bob, etc) but they're way out of my price range but i couldn't find a decent bike in my price range, so i figured i'd spend the money on something else i've wanted to do for a while, so i went out last month and applied for my FID.... My bike fund is now a 1911 fund...
  13. I'm looking to buy one too..... now please note that I have never shot any of these so this is all secondhand info Ive been doing a ton of reading on some 1911 forums (not sure if i can link another forum here) and from all their feedback i narrowed my choices down to: Dan Wesson - I especially like the RZ-45. People seem to think Dan Wesson gives you the most value for the low $1k range. Kimber Warrior/Grand Raptor - Some people seem to think Kimber has a little bit of a quality control problem, but others love them. But this will be more in the mid $1,500 range. Les Baer Premier 2 - This will be closer to $2k, but many people think les baer makes the most accurate 1911s for the money Wilson and Ed Brown are the landslide choices for top quality, with les baer a close 3rd, and a lot of people like the new Nighthawk brand also....but these will all be pretty expensive
  14. Yeah I've been planning on buying a .45 and some of the models I'm looking at (Les Baer) keep saying that they need about 400-500 rounds to be broken in. Which is pretty discouraging when I think of how much that's gonna cost.
  15. I was just gonna say, better than a wilson? i haven't shot one, but I've been researching 1911s for a few weeks (while waiting for my FID) deciding what to buy, and everyone says Wilson are the top of the line... I actually didn't even have S&W on the list I'm considering, but maybe I need to change that.....
