  1. My mistake, what he said he was getting so many "hits" he had to shut it off. We just laughed and left it at that.
  2. Actually, the OP's story is relaxed compared to years ago. I live in that town and at one time you had to fill out a form stating every job you ever had, every place you ever lived and if you missed one, and they found out, you were accused of falsifing the application,so it was nighty night for your pistol purchase permit. In addition to that, they sent a letter to my boss, who promptly threw it out it being I worked in Madison, and she lived in Paterson so she thought it was a plea for money from the PBA. She was anti gun so I had to lie to her and tell her I needed the permit to get possession of my grandfathers shotgun. She never would have fished it out of the garbage if she knew I was buying a handgun.

    45 Gurus Help?

Thanks men, I didn't think i could use a solid rod. It's a shame really. I love the trigger but now Im leery. I have an old series 70 Colt, but its nickle and the trigger is not as nice as the Sprinfield, but it too always went bang when I pulled the trigger. I may just dump the Springer.Plus the Springer shoots low and with those nice fixed tritium sights there's not much i can do to raise the POA. I know- I know-aim higher.

    45 Gurus Help?

While out blasting away with my Springfiled 1911, after I was done, I noticed the threaded end of the 2 piece guide rod very nicely unscrewed itself, almost to the end. So, what's answer to that problem? Does Springfield make a one piece guide rod? Or an after market company? Should I use something like Locktight red? You have to take the rod out to clean the gun. Also I'm not feeling to warm and fuzzy having my go to pistol's parts falling out when the fertilizer hits the ventilator. And yes, I know, I could go back to my Glock, but I don't have one in .45 :icon_exclaim:
  5. Thanks for the information. I really thought it would be a lose - lose situation for anyone to help but the police. Somehow, I think no matter what, the good guys would wind up in court over that. I'm sorry but somehow I feel for this guy who got beat up for asking these people to stop offending his family. To hear his lawyer droning on and on about how her client has no money blah blah blah. It makes me nuts!
  6. Obviously this victim at 40+ years old wasn't any match for an 18 year old gang banger. So what could his wife or a neighbor have done to help him? The actor didnt have a gun or a knife so deadly force is ruled out. Anyone helping him couldn't even have used a baseball bat. So I guess we just have to let someone crack our skulls, or WE are the ones who would be doing 7 to 10 for murdering is poor, misguided, youth. Even if you had a ccw permit, how could you be justified in using it? I guess we should be grateful the poor youth (tongue embeded in cheek) wasn't just charged with 4th degree simple assault. And to add insult to injury, his free defense attorney claims her client doesn't even have the money to cover the victims medical bills. Give me a Friggin break.
  7. So let me get this straight. Homeowner asks kids to quiet down. Kid comes back and stomps homeowner, and cracks his skull in his own driveway. Kid may get only 364 days in jail, and maybe less if they count time served. Ya know that tried by 12, carried by 6 is starting to make a whole lot more sense to me now. Welcome to New Jersey where corruption errrrr... crime is king. http://www.dailyrecord.com/article/20101020/UPDATES01/101020048/Admitted-gang-member-admits-beating-Mount-Olive-dad-over-disrespect-
  8. If you guys like to play with spiders, go to this link. It's way fun and usually creeps out the females in the house also. http://www.onemotion.com/flash/spider/
  9. "Senator Van Drew, for whatever reason, is kowtowing to the pro-gun forces of darkness who want to turn this country into an armed society," said Bryan Miller, executive director of Ceasefire NJ. "It’s very simple: Do we want to be standing in line at a grocery store, at a movie theater, sitting next to someone in a church or anywhere else not knowing whether that person is legally carrying a handgun?" Wow! I had no idea I was part of "the forces of Darkness"! We stand in line with armed people every day. We just don't know it! Hence the term concealed carry. I've been in Home Depot and seen holsters with Glocks in them. Hell my brother in law, a Paterson cop, used to drop his chief's special in his back pocket just to go buy beer. Another officer I know told me a story about a cop who forgot his holster and walked down the street in Camden with his H&K duty weapon in his hand, and nobody even flinched. So, let me get this straight. If you carry a weapon without the permit, you get 5 years. But for $500 and some other bull s***, your're good to go. Sometimes I think it would almost be worth divorcing my wife,(she's the one who wants to stay in Jersey) just so can live in Pa. and join the real United States. Liberals are conservatives who haven't been mugged yet.
  10. For the first time, I used the section of the forum where you ask the gun dealers to provide a price for a firearm i am interested in buying. Thank you all for the wonderful responses. Not only were they more than reasonable, they were very prompt. Thank you again to all who replied. It was an awesome experience. The prices were MUCH lower than others I have seen here in northwest Jersey.
  11. I bought a new computer last week and didn't bring over the favorites. So I typed in NJgunforum and got the shock of my life! Talk about being friggin high jacked! Wouldn't be cool to know the name of Brady's website, get the similar web site and get redirected to here. That would be awesome! Imagine all those anti gunners getting dumped here! hahaha
  12. Wow what a beauty! What are you going to name her? And yeah PX you could call her pretty. Pythons and Baretta's are pretty sexy too!
  13. Welcome to the "hood" from Hopatcong.
  14. Hi all! Well, I just picked up an nice used DPMS.223 upper, and got to thinking, is one BCG better than another? I don't want to buy an M16 BCG, it's just not worth the hassle. This is for a 16" barrel, I already have an H buffer and don't want to turn the upper into a jam-o-matic. I see that Bushmaster and Rock River are selling chrome plated ones (as a free upgrade) are they any better and any other coating? How about Titanium? I guess the bottom line is ...as long as it is a mil-spec BCG I should be good to go? Thanks in advance. Rich
  15. Isn't the whole point of hunting?..... to put lead in the wildlife?
  16. Just remember....when you get married you are taking an oath. You are legislating an emotion. How can anybody possibly promise to love somebody 3 decades in the future? If she is giving you crap now, how could you possibly believe that it's going to get better later? Where do you think the honey-do list comes from. It comes from the priorities women set as to what is important. If she wants a hobby teach her to spackle.
  17. I am not familiar with the company that Remington subbed all the manufacturing out to, but a Remington 1911 made in the USA for 700 bucks sounds like a plan! Now let's see, paperwork, wait time, detective case load, wait time, other police business, more wait time, I should have it as soon as I apply for social security. But then I will be on a fixed income, and won't be able to afford the damn ammo for it.
  18. Just when I thought i was done buying .45's ! http://www.1911r1.com/Products/Firearms ... 911r1.aspx
  19. I do it too, only I have the half empty thing going. 20 bangs @ .44 cents a round... you know that kind of thing. Plus i don't pick up the brass any more which used to ease the pain when I was reloading.
  20. Sorry, I ain't buying that! I wouldn't venture a guess what set those bullets off but the edge of a casing didn't do it.Being a lefty I have been hit with a number of casings from all calibers and never got any bruse in my skin enough to dent a brass casing or pop a primer.
  21. Having never bought ammo on line before, I expected the worst but I bit the bullet (pun intened) and bought a 1,000 rounds of 9mm from Cabela's. I wound calling them, as I never ordered before and spoke to a very nice gentleman who verified I was over 21, and not prohibited from purchasing same. Couldn't have been easier. It arrived a few days later. MUCH better than going to ......dare I say RAMSEY, where you are guilty of something, (I still don't know what) until proven innocent.
