  1. mine took 83 days in marlboro.. had to sign a release for credit history and get mental health form notarized
  2. I found a link for a firearm applicant investigative guide book refresher course given by the njsp to local pd's....sitting in on that would prove interesting i bet...My link
  3. it does happen but those guys are likely doing 7yrs in state prison when caught
  4. what your asking is illegal as far as my understanding of the law..whether you buy your dad one or you get a friend to buy you one.. you would be willfully violating the law...the only legal gift would be to your child under 18 and even then you have to be with the child when its used...
  5. is there a fast track process when someone applies for a ccw with documented threats? anyone know how long it took for muller from start to finish to be denied his ccw app compared to the typical 3-6 month wait for an FID.?..because this is jeresey; it'll be likely that a pd may deny an app for fid/pp knowing a dv victim intends to use it for defense....in a perfect world a ccw should be issued within 24hrs of some kind of safe use training and if theres documented or real threats, a permit should be issued on the spot.. thers no reason why in this computer age, should it take more than 5 days to approve any permit....
  6. there was a bill working it's way through committes this year that would give immunity to documented victims of domestic violence if the victim has a restraining order against the abuser.. I think it's waiting on the senate approval before it heads to the Gov. desk.....
  7. good topic,,cause I have similiar thoughts...1) since a HG BB gun requires a permit here it would be illegal to knowingly go over the border to buy one cause it wont be legal here..shipping it to yourself could be hit or miss if the carrier discovers the package contains a HG..the risk of it being reported to the police is a concern, but I've had airsoft HG shipped so who knows...2) as far as long gun BB..I question why in nj you can buy a spring powered airsoft pistol or rifle capable of over 400 fps? but not a 300? fps daisy red ryder w/o an FID...lots of people make the trip and buy what they want,,so you I have to ask myself..do i feel lucky?... now,if I were visiting a friend or relative in Pa and he gives me a BB HG..I would bring it home.....
  8. if needed..you can do expungement urself for a few hundred..forms can be found online....
  9. for your listening pleasure..here's a link to the oral argument from the other day in the 7th circut concerning chicago's ban on gun ranges....its good stuff...chicago is proclaiming stray bullets will fly and gun fights will break out... My linkclic the other link in post #4
  10. the easiest low stress thing to do would be; talk to the zoning dept first to see if they would allow it...
  11. what was telling for me is he said nj is highly populated and unique when compared to other states that have carry laws and without a large consensus to change gun laws in nj it aint happening.....basically saying he's against anything we would like without coming right out and saying so... appointing Dow as AG was our first clue and after what he said last night cements in my mind that, someday nj will be the state i used to live in......christie and dow are 2 peas in a pod....
  12. if memory serves me.......1959 there was a case.. moyant v borough of paramus..it centered around a firearm purchaser should have an I.D card ....around 1924 the handgun carry ban was instituted...1947 nj constitutional convention omitted the 2a from the state constitution...
  13. I agree stevens is bad news,,as noted by scalia's writings...if they argued P & I that could force nj to decide not to allow retired leo's to carry because they would be considered a seperate class of citizen vs joe smo..seeing as how P & i applies to all as citizens of the US,,kinda like the perks of being a US citizen if you get my meaning....although in stevens dissent he touched on how ccw bans to some extent have been upheld as constitutional but he backs that up by saying a number of states have carry in thier state constitution so to him ccw is a state issue...scalia opined that stevens tends to judge on ethico-political and moral philosophy and I fear the judge decideing this case may think this way..atleast we know the our lawmakers do......thats my uneducated take...
  14. I'll take a stab at the worst possible outcome....but prey for the opposite... judge sides with defendants -takes 3 yrs to move fwd on appeals- scotus refuses to hear case stating it lacks merit and its a state regulatory issue,-the AG feels a sudden surge of power and nj gun laws get drastically worse,
  15. so this is life outside of jersey..I found a link that residents of Va. and other states where a ccw course can be taken online and is accepted as proof of training to get a ccw...pretty amazing huh....My link
  16. i'm bothered by the way the US constitution was referred to as "federal constitution" in the opening paragraph..,,like to mean the government gives us rights..makes me wanna say hey paula its "we the people" not "us the government"...and they lean on Heller alot for their case..am I correct in saying macdonald defined self defense as the core right to the 2nd amendment?....seems clever on their part to ommitt anything relative from the macdonald decision.. to me, if they prevail(using Dow logic) the juge would be saying the 2nd amendment right exists only because the government allows it...
  17. S2190 was introduced in july of 2010, 5 months later reported from senate committee with amendments,2nd reading on 12-6-2010 referred to senate budget and appropriations 12-6-2010 I guess 1 of 2 things happened..it went into the circular file never to be seen again or it may be brought up in this years budget hearings and die that way or be approved....
  18. the approved enlargement order has march 16th as the due by date
  19. the state has submitted a request for a 3 day extension
  20. it may be a day or two to see the text..but,how many ways can nj say "its for the collective safety" that the ccw scheme is constitutional...all they can hang thier hat on is what the macdonald/heller courts did'nt say as a way to justify thier interpetation of the rulings and the scheme in place to prevent blood in the streets.....
  21. it would be great if a favorable decision included ,a judge shall no longer be the administer of permits...it should begin and end at the local pd just like how other gun permits are issued....can you imagine how long the wait would be, if say 1 thousand folks looking for a ccw in monmouth cnty suddenly go to one judge tasked with issueing permits ....or they could make it simple and just show any needed paper work to a clerk and get a permit, kinda like going to the DMV..get in get out....no appointment....
  22. apox upon me..I never thought it was possible to get a non driver photo ID from the DMV..the non driver part threw me off ...my first thought was a county id..just didnt want to see HK make an innocent mistake......live n learn right...
  23. dont mean to sound anal about it but...if you got the photo ID from the county seat; thats all it is..i'm curious why you keep saying its a non driver photo ID...did you get it from the DMV ?...I think a "non" driver "DL" for ID purposes only, is possible if you retain a previous DL from one state while having a current/valid DL from another state in which you presently reside...your social security # will show any history more than a recently aquired photo ID..for now all that will prove is your current resident status.....when you submit the forms tell the leo you dont have a DL and you'll be just fine....if you put a non DL # in that space it will come up, not on file..see what i mean?..
  24. why cant you leave it blank..you dont have a DL#..you'd be putting a non dl# where it requires an acutual dl#..would'nt that be falsifying a document.....
  25. what would be the odds of nj to go ,no issue, as a way to prevent non resident people from ccw here....this whole thing could open a big can of worms..if nj prevails and maintains the justifiable need requirement vs states that dont,,how would they(nj) treat that seeing as how non residents have to follow the state law they carry in....see what i mean? i know thats alot of supposing but......
