Great show. Great cast and some of the cleanest Crown Vics around.

Great series. Welever is very watchable.. Played Silas Adams in Deadwood and the IRA guy Jimmy in Sons of Anarchy.

When you were younger, what guns did you like?
9thMarines replied to Malice4you's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
Back when I was in my early twenties (in the very early 60's) I really dug some of the German WWII weapons. Did finally get a Luger,a P-38 and a Schemiser MP40. Regrettably all long gone. Would still like to get a M1918 Browning B.A.R. This was my baby in the service. It was just sooo John Wayne. Being 83 I'm not sure I could lift it now.... but thats what the sling was for, right! Agree with the praise for the Model 19. My 19-3 is my oldest and most reliable revolver. Gotta keep dreaming.... -

Similar experience. I'm in my 80's and worked for over forty years at Newark Airport, so my hearing wasn't great, but not too bad. About 3 years ago I was at a trap range and the instructor was saying something to me and I couldn't make out what it was. At that time I was using my old airline ear muffs which worked pretty good.. So I broke the seal on the left earpiece and one or two shots went off next to me. I didn't notice anything wrong til the next day. Had the ringing (tinitus) and it sounded like people were mumbling and I had difficulty making out what they were saying.. The ringing was moderately bad and it lasted for about three months and then finally went away. So, if you aren't having trouble understanding what people are saying, you should be all right. Unfortunately for me I still have trouble making out what some people are saying. Apparently, I blew out all those fine little hairs in my left ear, so if people aren't speaking clearly,or mumbling or swallowing their words I usually get one word out of three. Had to get hearing aids but they are mostly just amplifiers and really don't help with speech clarity, no matter what anyone says.. All the best... Sounds like you should be OK Kenny

Just two guns for the rest of your life
9thMarines replied to Malice4you's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
Will have to defer to God, AKA John Moses Browning . Want my B.A. R back. (May not be able lift it 60 years later but that what the bi-pod is for.) and my 1911. -
Old Dog, Thank you for your service should really be Thank you for the sacrifice you made for our country. A belated but hearty "welcome home". and you have more friends than you know. Wishing you all the best.

Hi Griz, Saw a note about the firing pin. Good catch. Will check it out, just out of curiosity. As this is just going to be a range toy to play around with, it won't be carried loaded. Hope to get to the range sometime next week to check it out. It does fit my hand so nicely. All the best, Kenny

Be interested to know if anyone has had any experience with this neat little pistol. Apparently F.I. was going to make these for Colt as the Colt Pony but the deal fell thru. They still have the CPA serial number prefix (Colt Pony..) Wanted a little .380 but didn't care for anything out there. Too big, too small, too plasticky, or too expensive..etc Found this little guy. A scaled down 1911. (my favorite format) Real metal!!..

Current carz.. 1999 Crown Vic and 2005 Grad Marquis. Yeah..yeah.. Old cars for an old fart...but.. they are roomy and comfortable and target stands fit nicely in the trunk along with other goodies.. Worst car ever. 1947 Fraser.. That car just did not like hills...any kind of hill..... Best looking cars... Mercedes 190SL and 64 GTO ragtop..... 58 Chevy Impala Most fun cars..... 52 MG TD and 56 Porsche Speedster and 32 Chevy

Smith & Wesson Parts Swap 31-1 with 36-1 question
9thMarines replied to 9thMarines's topic in Gunsmithing
As usual....thanks Griz for your expertise... I was just scrolling thru Ebay and there is a 36-1 cylinder, yoke, pin and barrel assembly for under a $100 for sale and was just curious if this would work. The J frames are very similar but from your input it sounds like too daunting a job. If it was just a barrel and cylinder swap I could have had a cheap convertible. Oh well... Thanks again. All the best, amigo Kenny -
Have a 31-1 and was wondering if it can be converted to 38 spcl by using the cylinder, yoke and barrel from a 36-1. The frames appear to be identical. Any parts problem going from 6 shot to 5? Saw the 36 parts on Ebay and thought it might be an inexpensive was to have a "convertible. If it works!!

Have the CZ 527 American in .223. I wanted to have one bolt gun and opted for this one. Fantastic little rifle. Accurate as heck, lightweight. quality build, great wood.. It even makes me look good..... Can't go wrong.

Griz and T Bill. Thanks for the input. The lead and coated are quite a bit less expensive. Thats the route I'll go. Those red coated bullets from Badman look interesting. Might just take them up on the $9.50 samples with free shipping. I do love free shipping. Thanks, guys. Kenny

Just wondering if anyone has reloaded for this caliber. Have a S&W model 31-1, 2 inch snubbie which I haven't used a lot as factory ammo too expensive for this retiree. Did shoot up a box of Magtech 98 gr. wadcutters today. Smokey stuff. At 5 yards about half the rounds were starting to keyhole. Later found out that the Magtech has the lowest fps rating of them all at only 682 fps. S&B is the fastest at 886 fps with 100 gr. LRN. With the snubbie its gotta be a lot less. With the short barrel, thinking I'd be better off using something like Rainier's 100 gr FN bullets with about 2.7 gr. of Bullseye. which should put me up around the 850 fps area. And the Berries are only $12 a hundred. Any input much appreciated. Gonna spring for a set of Lee dies for about $30. Thanks, Kenny

FFL in a different state...
9thMarines replied to Larry1851's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Looking to sell handgun on Gunbroker. Shipping cost is the problem as mentioned above. Has anyone used or know of an FFL in North Jersey that will ship for a "reasonable" fee. I'm in Livingston. Thanks. -

Have an inexpensive Tru-Glo Red Dot on my Buckmark 22. It sure helps these 82 year old eyeballs. -
9mm with an easy to rack slide
9thMarines replied to 9thMarines's topic in New Firearms Owners Corner
Hi Guys, Thanks for all the great input and the helpful video. Will definitely check out your suggestions. Will use that video to help myself. Being in my 80's I don't seem to have the hand and finger strength that I used to. Using the HKS mag loader for the Hi-Power really helps and the Buckmark was hard due to that strong hammer spring. Solved that one by cutting and shaping two pieces of black velcro and attaching to them to the rear of the slide. Now thats not a problem. Many thanks, kenny -
Daughter got her FID and is waiting on two permits. She has small hands and she has difficulty racking the slide on my Hi-Power,Springfield 1911 and Browning Buckmark. I've read the thread about guns for small hands and have some ideas from there, but what 9mm are out there that are easy to rack. Figure 9mm is best for home defense and inexpensive target shooting and soft shooting . Her second gun will be a revolver. (belt & suspenders). She is a school teacher so not looking for an expensive ,high end pistol. Thanks
