  1. Like intercooler said, any of the red dots should work well. The only problem you might have is with the mounting of it. Most red dots are being made for picatinny rails. You will need to get an adapter. I found that these work great! Dovetail-To-Picatinny Low Profile Rail Adaptor http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007BNHFLQ/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 Also I use the following bag when I want to leave my red dot on. Put a rubber scope cap over the reciever end that takes the barrel to keep it clean. Put everything else in stock and it works well for a range trip. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BR2Z8G/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 Have fun! Bob
  2. Chucks Spring Street Cafe, Princeton Mainly a take out place. On Football Sundays the line is out the door. Don't order less than 50, or you will have to get back in line again!
  3. LOL a barrel and then SOME with a .500 going through it! Only pistol that made me wear ear plugs "under" by muffs!
  4. .44mag is actually a dual cartridge revolver too. .44 mag/.44 special So you can go bold or go mild! I have a S&W .44 Mountain Gun with 4" barrel. The Mountan Gun was a special offering by S&W with a slighty trimmed down style for lighter weight. It still has some heft too it and is a great little shooter. Have both the wooden grips and a set of Crimson Trace Hog Grips. This is the M29 blued version but it also came in SS Model 629. If you one of your semis is a .45, you might want to consider that caliber for the wheel gun. You can modify some wheel guns to handle regular .45 LC and .45 ACP using a moon clip. I am considering doing this to my .44. There are some folks on the forum who can speak in great detail on this. http://www.tkcustom.com/ Choices, choices choices ! So to answer your question: S&W, very accurate, and nice to shoot. Very Reliable with minimal care. But Ruger makes some nice revolvers too. And even though it is looked down on by some folks, I have found Taurus (recent models) to handle very well too. You should go to some gun stores and handle a bunch! The grips are different enough to give a very unique feel in shooting. No wrong or right, just preference. I don't think you would go wrong with any of these three. Have Fun!
  5. Opps, Sorry, I was't clear. I meant easier than doing it by hand. Which, is how I am doing it with the 9mm.
  6. That looks (a first glance) like the same one offered here: http://www.mooncliptool.com/ Thinking more about getting the S&W .44 Mountain Gun converted by Toms. THe extra arbor would be good. I imagine the large caliber will be harder to load/unload into the moon clips. Thanks ALL for the great info!
  7. Thanks for the description and pics on the DIY de mooner!
  8. A little Taurus 905 9mm that I have had lying around in the safe..
  9. Thanks Alec, with shipping thats what mine cost. I figure it is well worth it. They do mention in one section that the mfg. the Hearthcom designed clips, but I saw no other ones listed.
  10. Interesting Porthole, That looks similar to the one offered by Toms. (nod to NJCK) Saw this one also: http://www.bmtequipped.com/index.php Offered by BMT Equipped. (interesting demo at the end of the Schofield vid by Gunblast. Anyone have any experience with either? :polling: I have just been doing it by hand so far.
  11. Great pictures Alec! I like the "snaggle tooth" picture of the rounds in the standard clip. Have the same thing to a lesser extent with the 5 round Taurus Factory Clips. The TK's are perfect! So Hearthco is TK. That is good to know.
  12. A big +1 to TK Custom and NJCK for the moon clips! Just got them in. DId a quick short test they are much better than the factory ones. Stiffer, with a more positive snap in and no adjustment required after loading to keep the rounds in the clip. A little less wiggle than the factory clips which makes them very smooth and quick to load. A little on the expensive side, but they are not something you are going throw away. Well worth the difference in cost. Now to the range! Now toying with the idea of converting my .44 Mountain Gun to moon clips by TK .................... sigh, its only money!
  13. Have to unpack the cosmoline off of my Blunderbuss!
  14. Just for information: Now you too can have shotgun that can fire as fast as a semi-auto (well for at least 3 rounds) Wonder if they HD version with the removable stock would be NJ legal? gunsamerica.com/blog/chiappa-triple-barrel-shotgun-the-triple-crown-shot-2013/http://www. http://www.chiappafirearms.com/product/2629
  15. Give Cabelas in Hamburg a call. They can also have it shipped for pick up from other stores. http://www.cabelas.com/air-rifles.shtml
  16. Thanks Pizza Bob! Never realized there were so many choices!
  17. Good Point Jamesbod! But, long story short the 905 was born out of a project for a uni-caliber (rifle/pistol/cc pistol) project starting with a CX4 Storm.
  18. Looks like a great deal! Thanks Going to order some from Icemonkey Word of caution on Li-io batteries if you are not familiar with them. . If the battery is not an over charge (protected) one, be careful as they can become mini-thermal devices. With that said, is dosn't looke like the charger they are supplying is much more than a trickle charger.
  19. For a 9mm Taurus 905. In no rush for them. Just ordered some from TK.
  20. Thanks NJCK! I have a little Taurus 905 (9mm) that I am pulling out of the safe again. The factory clips just seem a little thin . I have to "screwdriver" set them after loading. I am intrigued by the idea of converting a larger caliber to be dual moon/clip or regular loading! If my S&W was 45LC and not .44 I would probably be hooked!
  21. Any body have any experiences with other than factory supplied moon clips? Here is one recommended from another forum. http://www.tkcustom.com/ Looks like an interesting company. Anyone ever dealt with them? Also interesting idea (all it takes is money!) to convert your wheel gun to handle both ways of reloading.
