  1. My 905CHSS Added the Crimson Trace grips. The CT grips give me a better grip than the factory grips.. Laser provides na easy quick point and shoot ability at short range. Taurus lifetime warranty is a good deal. Bought the revolver over 5 years ago and never fired it. Took it out this summer and had a problem with the cylinder alignment. Sent it in. Got it back in 3 weeks, fixed, and cleaned as new. No charge except for postage on my end. That being said, the moon clips are a bit of a pain. In order to hold the casings well, you need to slip a flat edge tool (screwdriver, thin coin) inbetween the shell holders and twist a little. That secures them. Hope this helps. Bob
  2. +1 for Wombat on trying several places and searches as all are not on one link. PDM, ammoman.com has EFMJ in stock and although they do not ship to NJ, they will offer a discount if you go down and pick up.
  3. I have always found this is a good site to start my search http://ammoseek.com/view.now/about.html Then I also do a bing search and gun broker just to check value. Have fun! Bob
  4. I would be interested in: 5.56/.223 .44 special .44 magnum .22 LR 12 guage
  5. This is for the State Police Barracks Route 12, Kingwood for ALexiandria and Hunderton Countys. Just went for a change of address on my FID card. (04/03/12) In addition to the standard three forms (application, background criminal and mental health) , they also ask you to fill out a big sheet with just your cell phone number on it (to call you with any questions or when it is ready) and ask you to put cell phone numbers down for your references. (I am guessing they are trying to expedite the process) The only think that suprised me was the $18.00 charge for change of address and payment had to be Money Order or Certified Check! They were very polite about the whole business and did caution me it could be months to turn around., I will update when I find out when my references were contacted and when I get the new card. Bob
  6. Sorry for the half sentence Melgamatic. I stopped half way through and didn't think I sent it. What I meant was, do you have a problem in picking up the full scope picture with that much eye relief?
  7. Very Nice! I like that lever rail system! When I picked up my rifles XS only made the Scout Scope Mount base for the 1895 and nothing for the 1894. Ended up with a Wild West Scout Scope Mount for the 1894 and a XS Scout Scope Mount for the 1895. Tried a Leupold FX 2.5 x 28 Scout Scope and it didn't work for me. Switched to a Mueller MX-1 Red Dot. Its good for short range, but I would like to get a variable power scope on it sometime. Do you have with eye relief on the 1895? Bob
  8. Nice little family you got there! What scope do you have on the 1895?
  9. In my quest to buy a Marlin Model 39 TDS, I am realizing I must sell some stuff. One of the items is this Papoose. I am planining on putting it up for auction this week, but I though I should offer it up here first. Here is the rough draft of the copy I am going to use: (beginning of copy) For sale, a Marlin 70PSS Papoose LNIB. This is the complete set with carry bag, spanner wrench, one nickel plated 7 round clip and a copy of the manual. In addition, I have two 10 round nickel plated clips ,one 7 round blued clip and a (30 mm) red dot scope (all are shown in the picture) for sale separately. First choice goes to the winner of this auction. Bought it new from Cabelas’ about 2 years or so ago. I bore sighted it, then shot it to make sure each clip fed and everything functioned. Cleaned it, put it the safe This is as new a rifle as you can get and still be sure it works! (end of copy) If anyone is interesed please give me a holler before Tuesday. They have just recently sold for $280 and $312 at auction. Putting it up sale for $275.00 plus shipping or can do a FTF. $ 300 if you want the extra mags and the scope. If I don't sell it by Tuesday, it will go up for auction. Thanks, Bob
  10. It looks like a nice idea! Larger and heavier than the AR-7 or 70PSS, but I bet it is more accurate out at 100 yds. All depends on how much you are willing to pack. But, I prefer lever actions and might finally have a bead on a Marlin TDS . I must take something out of the "safe" so I am thinking about my Marlin 70PSS Papoose. Was going to put it up on Gunbroker, but if anyone local has an interest I'll post it here. Bob
  11. Help me out here. I am confused as to what advantage a folding stock would have on this rifle. Where would you put the sling swivel if needed? As for the foreend rails, it seems that could chew up you hand and also limit where you can grip. Wild West Guns already makes a single rail mount that will fit a laser/light on the magzine tube. This leaves the whole fore end for your hand. I notice this rifle does not have a top rail, just iron sights. Wild West makes a single forward scout scope mount that can be used for a red dot. XS Sight Systems make a scope mount and a full top rail that can mount pretty much anything you want. Also curious as too why no big loop if they were going full tactical? Just IMHO thinking out loud, but it looks like a solution in search of a problem. Bob
  12. Just loaded it up and it is very nice! Can do a seach by your present location or by zip code or state. Provides links and phone numbers too. Thanks Rob!
  13. Almost any Marlin clip that works for their semi-auto models will work for you. Fits Marlin & Glenfield Clip-Loaders models 25N, 70, 70HC, 70L, 70P, 70PSS, 795, 880, 880SS, 995, 995SS and 7000 Been able to find them from time to time hanging on an old peg display real cheap but listed for just one of the above guns. They all have worked in my Model 70PSS just fine. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/171532/marlin-magazine-marlin-795-795ss-7000-22-long-rifle-10-round-steel-nickel-plated has them in stock for $20 http://www.hinterlandoutfitters.com/marlin-firearms-m-300.html has them for $14 but out of stock right now. They have the 7 rounders for $12 I would not get the 25 rounders for two reasons. 1. Have seen many reports about jamming. 2. If you keep them in NJ you are breaking the law (considered a felony) Hope this helps. Bob
  14. Pulling the Marlin 1894 out of the safe to start working on cleaning it up from a long time in there. Order of business. Clean, shoot it to see if there are any major issues and then send the lever out to be reworked into a large loop. Then possible tune up. In asking around I have put together a list of various recommended screwdriver bit sizes. Does this list look accurate? Marlin 1895 set: 180-2, 180-3, 180-4, 270-4 Marlin 336 set: 120-3, 180-3, 180-4, 200-3, 240-3, 270-3, 300-4 Marlin 1894 set: 180-4,210-4,270-4,270-5 Which is the specific one to remove the lever on a 1894? Thanks! Bob
  15. I have used it my CMMG Dedicated upper and it works well with no fouling of the barrel. Cabelas has it right now for a case of 1500 with a dry ammo box and free shipping for $94.99. That works out to be $23.75 a box of 375 . The dry box is worth $14.99 (if you would have bought one anyway) so that brings it down $20 a box shipped. But you do have to buy 4 boxes at a time. http://www.cabelas.com/rimfire-ammunition-cci-22lr-dry-box-1.shtml?WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=GoogleBaseUSA&WT.z_mc_id1=1143660&rid=40&mr:trackingCode=488497E6-C7EE-DF11-9612-001B21631C34&mr:referralID=NA
  16. I picked up a Henry trapper style .22 (H001L) to practice with and save ammo cost before I went back to my larger caliber Marlins. The action and the fit and finish are on a par with the older Marlins I have. Its swing weight is a lot lighter and forend grip is smaller than the larger Marlin but it if fine for my purpose. The .44 Magnum can be a handful in a lever action. Was it a straight stock or a pistol grip stock? If you like to try one sometime with a large loop lever that could solve the banged finger problem let me know. (depends on which finger I guess)
  17. Thanks for the heads up! Gives me the push to go play on Amazon for some accesories.
  18. If anyone looking for a CX4 and will take one used, this site has some. They seem a little pricey though. http://www.armslist.com/ Do a search for rifles and narrow it down, by 9mm and Beretta Bob
  19. Sorry for the mis-information before. I thought is was for a regular flashlight! Looked up TLRS-1 after and saw it is a rail mounted system. Looks like Streamlight makes one for it specifically. http://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-Mag-Tube-Rail/dp/B0028LXG5A
  20. Geetings, If you are looking for a permanent mount and don’t want to go with a rail option: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=23226/Product/UNIVERSAL-FLASHLIGHT-MOUNTS Inexpensive permanent mount Or this one: http://www.bugoutgearusa.com/jetbeamgm03.html For about $10 more , I have one of these: http://beamlokr.com/ Great mount for multipurpose use. Don’t buy the one with their flashlight (it is not worth it IMHO) I have a Jetbeam R2 on it but any 1” diameter flashlight should work. Works great, use it on a double barrel Coach Gun (well on an off) Does not come off with recoil, Gun Blaster on Utube has video on it. Mail order saves a few bucks. http://www.lapolicegear.com/hst-hssg12-beam-lokr.html Bob
