  1. You're kidding right? For what we pay for these people we should have rocket scientist working there. And yes some of the clerks in my town hall make more than people I work with who design circuit boards for rockets.
  2. So, we do nothing and 100% off the stuff stays in the water. Ship cleans it so only 1% stays in the water. So this is a bad thing? We need to get rid of these tools who hold appointed positions that they are obviously not qualified for.
  3. You'd be amazed at how fast that $1600 can go. Initial purchase price is only a small portion of what you will spend. By the time you get set up with eyes and ears, a lesson if you are new to shooting, ammo, cleaning supplies carrying cases etc the money goes by pretty quick. Unless you have a place in Pa to shoot its is gonna cost some bucks to fire your rifle. Ft Dix is probably the cheapest place to shoot. I think you are making a smart choice by starting with a 22. .22lr ammo is MUCH cheaper and you can get a feel for the platform without worrying too much about how much each round costs.
  4. Not sure if this is true or not but there was a rumor of observers parked near the fireworks distributors in PA calling back the descriptions of cars with NJ plates that stopped in to buy fireworks. Cops on the NJ side would then pull these cars over. The whole firework ban is just a way to make money. $275 dollar fine for waving a sparkler? I'm not gonna bust a cops chops for doing his job of enforcing laws, but our "beloved politicians" just keep coming up with ways to take more of our money so they can waste it.
  5. OP was talking about a gun shop passing off a used gun as new, at new gun price. I pretty sure this falls into the category of fraud and could wind the dealer up in deep doo doo.
  6. Last year I saw some "Rental" cops on ATV's flying down the beach at night ,weaving through people and spraying sand all over the place. What was the emergency they were responding to? Two young girls (~7) waving sparklers. What this state won't do for a few more revenue streams.
  7. You can get a quote from forum vendors by clicking the Firearm Price Request at the Board Index. I have been happy with the whole purchasing experience I had with Vinny at Hunting World I have also only heard good things about TJ Sporting Arms and Paul at Arms and Ammo. Shore Shot has a good selection and decent prices. Rahway Firearms Guild has a good selection but (to me) their prices are out of line.
  8. No, no, a thousand times no. The supreme court ruling did not invalidate every single gun law in the US. There was absolutely no practical impact of Heller or McDonald on NJ. I'm not so sure about that. In NJ posession of all firearms are illegal. Legality is by exception. SC said firearm posession is a right. So NJ law says a right is illegal except by exception. Law will have to change. What that means in the long run is yet to be seen.
  9. It doesn't expire. Good till you move, name change or revoked.
  10. Whoever taught her did a good job. I like the trigger discipline. Finger off the trigger until on target, even between shots.
  11. The projectile itself is more than that. Seeing one of these things loaded gives a healthy respect for the destructive power of military weapons.
  12. Friend needs to exercise some trigger discipline
  13. What a pinhead. I wonder what took so long for the guy to call her on it? But at least he did.
  14. Put down 3. Even if you don't use them all you lose is 2 dollars each. If you come into some money, or find a great deal it really sucks if you don't have a permit and have to pass.
  15. I do every time. Why? It gives you a chance to look over the gun to see if there are any mechanical failures. No I'm not saying I expect to find any, but if a failure occurs, I'd rather find it at my bench then the next time I fire it and it goes KB in my hand.
  16. You definitely CAN save money by reloading but you will also tend to shoot more. You will turn into a brass scrounger. 9mm - Can load @ ~.12 a round buy @ ~.18 .40 & .357 Magnum - Currently loading @~.13 a round, buy @ ~.30 .45 - Loading @ .08 (Hornady LNL free bullets and a I got a great deal on some 230 FMJs for $70/1000 shipped) buy @ ~.50 if you can find them. There is a pretty steep buy in to start, but if you shoot ~5-6k rounds a year of more expensive rounds the reloading equipment pays for itself. Not to mention its a hoot when you shoot the ammo you made and actually see it work.
  17. AdamaSys Sounds about right. I didn't have to have local references, and the $5 was payable when I picked up my ID. Each department does things their own way:roll:, but yours seems to be following the rules pretty well.
  18. Not specifically designed as a gun bag but. http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/dulu ... =product_6 This thing is extra heavy duty. I'll wear out before it does. I've carried 4 pistols 800 rounds of ammo, and 2 sets eyes and ears without any problem. I use the center section for tools, staplers, targets etc. The interior pockets make perfect magazine holders.
  19. I really think its up to the PD. My friend who has had a FID >15 years moved and applied for a change of address. They had him go to Sagem Morpho to be printed again. He did the paperwork in January 2010.
  20. Yep you're right, I must have been thinking about the Dick's thread. I definitely had to show id for some 22lr I bought.
  21. I wouldn't laugh. I'm too envious. Like the setup. I too, use the plastic box setup.
  22. This may not be relevant but You can get a FPID card at 18. This is not a permit. It allows you to buy as many long guns as you would like. You have to be 21 to get a hand gun permit or to purchase hand gun ammo. For each handgun purchased you need a permit. As for references two friends who don't have a police record will do.
