  1. Henderson Defense is great, I got my SGL21 from them, and they made in NJ legal for me before it was an option. You will be happy with it!
  2. I started shooting when I was pretty young, around 6 or 7 with my Grandfather. He has a hunting camp in NY that we went too and still do. I started shooting the bolt action Marlin 100 first, it was a single shot .22. Then I used a Remington Nylon 66, and a Glenfield Model 60. We still have them all too.
  3. Guess it depends on the shooter, I seen a bubba shooter with a bunch of missing parts and sport stock for 1000. Not sure if they still have it, but it was in upstate NY. I don't really want to make this a shooter since its all original and matching, but I have to put some rounds through it. Looking on gunbroker for a few months ,I didn't see anything below 2k during that time. Even ones with fake cartouches were going over those prices.
  4. All of them are in great shape, here are the two I picked up.
  5. Awesome! I am excited myself, recently mailed in a order on the 1st for a Service Grade HRA.
  6. I enjoy his videos, not only informative, but fun.
  7. Can't wait for this release.
  8. What a deal you missed out there. Yea, I had a few WWII rifles, decided I wanted to expand on it this year. I just picked up some 91/30s from the group buy, and hopefully will have a nice Service Grade M1 here in a month or 2 from CMP, my order was accepted on the 4th. Yea I want to read more about them, I'm sure I can find a book about them and educate myself. I thought they were unfinished, but I don't want to destroy an original stock trying to get it to original condition even if it was sanded and finished. I know they sell replacement laminated stocks, which are specced out to the original and they offer the stampings, maybe Ill go that route, then worry about it. I need to pick up the Apfeltor Shooter kit also. Here is the stock i was looking at: http://www.fox-military.com/en/stock.php?id_produkt=10
  9. Well I just picked up my first G43, its a AC44 "j" block matching numbers. I been searching for a while now, and found this on some Michigan Gun Forums. The owner got it from a local Veteran, who brought it back from the war. The vet hasn't changed anything with the gun, except sanding the stock and finishing it. There are no longer any Waffenampts on the stock . I don't know how else to verify it is the original stock, but it has the age to it. I don't know if I should leave it or try to get it to original appearance? I rather not sand it down, but maybe strip the finish he put on. Opinions would be appreciated, I only mention this since it has already been sanded. The only thing that i see wrong was the cleaning rod that came with the rifle. It looks like a AK47 cleaning rod. I swapped it out with an extra original cleaning rod I had. Also the stock has a minor crack up toward the cleaning rod, but its not bad for the age of the rifle. I can take other photos, these were just some quick ones after I got it, I can get some close up if you guys like. Been pretty busy, so haven't really got around to anything with it. Spent a lot of time yesterday cleaning one of the Mosin's I just got.
  10. Looks great! Can't wait to pick mine up on Saturday.
  11. I am sure if they have enough time, someone would be able to. I tried to put out of the way and hidden. And also bolted it to the wall so it cant be easily moved. Its better than a bunch of rifles in hard cases all over the place.
  12. I just picked this up last week, I think its great for the price. I think it would be a little tight trying to get up to 19 guns in the safe. They give you extra hardware to make room for scoped guns, but it fills in quick. The Shelves are ok, although the clips that hold them up look cheap. I wouldn't trust too much weight on them if you are thinking about putting in a lot of ammo, I had some friends give out. All said and done, I got it for 279.99 out the door, it might not be fire resistant, but it will keep burglars out, and I don't have to worry about guns being all over the place.
  13. Great purchases! My checkbook is going to kill me also!
  14. Wow what a rifle. I can't wait for my SG HRA to come in, but its nothing compared to being able to pick out your own.
  15. This is what they told me. The East Hanover store wasn't large enough, so they are expanding the fishing section at Hanover, and moving all of the Outdoors/Hunting to Rockaway.
  16. Mine never got contacted either. 5 months is a killer man. My PD use to be a week for just pistol permits. I dropped off a App yesterday he said its 2-4 now. Still good timing compared to most of NJ.
  17. Yup! I went for the Stack On 19 Gun when it was on sale 2 weeks ago for 299. None in stock at the Rockaway store, they told me to call on Friday, I did pickup a rain check to be safe. I called Friday, none came in, and they didn't give me any other options on purchase. I called Monday after the sale ended, they got one, but it was another customers that had it dropped shipped to the store. So I started complaining the employee, she put me in contact with a manager. I bitched to the manager about why that option wasn't given to me, since I could have purchased it online and not paid shipping if it was sent to the store. I let him know I went to the store on the Sunday it went on sale and they never had it in stock since the sale started. He extended my rain check to No expiration, but I am still waiting for them to get this thing in stock. End of rant lol.
  18. I'd be in for 1 or 2 depending on final cost. EDIT: 1 Hex and 1 Round
  19. Dicks has a sale on the Stack-on 19 Gun, but its a combo lock.

    K98 Mauser

That was me, I was going to skip on on the bidding until I actually saw it. Yea it is a light stamp that says 509 the "0" is a little sloppy. I figured the stock on the rifle now wasn't a RC since it had no stamps or shellac. It has someones initials on it, but not other markings. Maybe Ill find something when I switch it back over to the original stock. You're right about the bolt, my original guess was it got swapped when returning soldiers removed them from the guns before shipping out. Someone on another forum thought it was interesting that the bolt is very close to when my rifle would have been manufactured.

    K98 Mauser

I bought it from Walt at Hackettstown Guns and Ammo.
  22. Picked up a Mauser recently from the local gun store. This is my first Mauser, so I am interested in learning more about this rifle. People have been very helpful on surplus forums in providing me information, so Ill share what I know already. It was a consignment item, someone was selling their fathers bring back byf45. It's a Vet Bring back rifle with a duffle cut stock under the rear band on the original stock. The rifle is actually on a different stock right now, the owner switched it after the war since the original had the cut stock, but it was repaired. It also included a Bayonet which doesn't have matching numbers to the sheath and was probably something he grabbed on the way back. The bolt is also a mismatch, but on another forum they informed me its from a byf44 "L" Block rifle, which is end of the line byf44 production. Maybe its a mismatch or maybe it's a mere coincidence that the bolt ended up with that rifle, things must have been heck-tick at the end of the war so I guess you never know. It also came with the original L&F sling. The original stock is a Semi-Kriegsmodell, which was used before they completely switched over to the full Kriegsmodell stocks. The rifle itself only has the serial on the receiver. Waffenampt's are Eagle over 135 on the stock, behind the trigger, and on the top of the stock also with a "C". Few of the parts are stamped byf, no serials though, I guess they didn't do this toward the end of the war on these particular models. I plan on switching the stocks back out so the rifle is back with the original. I can't tell if the replacement stock is an RC, I don't see any markings on it, except for someones Initials. Hopefully I can get in contact with the old owner and get some history to go with the rifle. I always loved old C & R rifles, and this is my second along with the 1903. Hopefully I can come across some good finds this year, and learn more about them. -Jason Album Link: http://s1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa462/jsko/BYF45%20k98%20Mauser/
  23. I am sure if any of them do own firearms they would try to stop this. You know they do, you always see news articles about anti gun politicians involved in a self defense home invasion shooting.
