  1. Replace the cutter wheel on a small pipe cutter with an appropriate size washer. Create a permanent indentation on the magazine tube to restrict the travel of the follower inside. Voila Jersey-legal at 15 round capacity
  2. Because it's just as John M Browning made it, without the extra lever, spring and plunger.
  3. Lighter bullets can be driven faster than heavier ones Heavier bullets pack more "punch" than lighter ones Momentum=Mass times velocity Energy=Mass times velocity times velocity times 0.5
  4. A co-worker and I both have their 45 carbines. He also has their 45 pistol. Fit is good Finish is non-existent Factory sights on the carbine are crap, but there's a full length rail to mount optics Mags are 9 round only All in all, I'd still rather be on the giving end than the receiving end of their function And I'd rather have a closet full of HiPoints than a bag of hockey sticks, baseball bats and bricks.
  5. You guys do realize that Sportsmans Guide, as a corporate policy (not law) will NOT ship "any assault weapon accessories" (ie. AR parts or add-ons) to the Glorious PRNJ. Just look at their "Restricted Shipping" list then take a look through their catalog at the perfectly legal things they refuse to sell to us. They don't get any of my shopping dollars anymore. And I told that to a manager in Customer Service last month. Fuggem.
  6. I also have a CX4 in .45acp. Bought it new in 2005 Had some buyer's regret for a time afterwards, but I've gotten over that I have a decent reddot on top and the factory sights flipped down (a nice feature) Still have the factory plastic fire control group parts, but they've been carefully "smoothed out" to make the trigger acceptable Mag capacity (8 factory, 9 discontinued Promag) is the biggest negative The Sierra Papa kit referenced above is an extension that requires a factory mag in addition, so it's an *expensive* 15 rounder! Nicest thing is that as a left-handed shooter, it's completely reversible from factory setup to be totally left handed 16.1" of .45acp power down range! A real thumper with hot loads And the dissimilar materials of the stock and the cheekpiece will pull your whiskers out one-by-one :wild:
  7. No, I'm anything BUT a troll here (or on any board, for that matter) No, not a caliber war, but like I said, as a .45acp shooter and reloader, I really fail to understand ALL the attraction toward 9x19 Just nudging the wall here
  8. Other than factory ammo being only slightly less expensive, I still don't understand why so many are buying the caliber that lost two world wars and even though managing a point blank cranial through-and-through, failed to bring about the demise of a congresswoman last year.
  9. Welcome! And please be sure to let us know how long Gloucester Twp takes to complete the process for you. In the past, they've been reasonable (60-90 days) for some, and up to a year (!) for some others. I assume as a new shooter at Bob's that you are starting with handguns rather than rifles, yes? Which handgun(s) are you looking at to build your new marksmanship skills?
  10. In a just world, one generally gets what one deserves! (As a lifelong Eagles fan, I hope the Giants and Patriots literally pound each other into the ground all day, with the Giants winning on the last play with a dying breath touchdown)
  11. Coming to our country, thanks to our current crop of Fabian Socialists! (Soros, Obama, Hillary, et al)
  12. They settled on a sentence of only 5 years because we (the taxpayers) can only afford to feed, house, protect and provide 100% medical coverage to him for 60 months. Anything beyond that, it's money we don't have. So let's hear it for the AG's office ... Saving the taxpayers' money!
  13. I can see you've never been to the PRNJ School of Creative Prosecution According to Evan Nappen, a mag is a gun part. Ammo in a mag could be construed (for arrest purposes) as ammo in a gun In contrast, stripper clips are never part of the gun Same with speed loaders Rule of thumb: Give a PRNJ Prosecutor an inch and he'll stick it up your a$$
  14. At 57, I get to join the "old farts who'll carry" club, don't I?
  15. It's called "Plan B" and is practiced by an ever-growing number of PRNJ residents. Empty mags eliminate the chance of being charged with a "loaded gun(part)" (Stripper clips are the quickest way to load AR-type mags.) The legal situation changes when G-d forbid you find yourself in need of Plan B and load the mags and ready the weapon. But if it comes to a choice between life or death, I'll choose life and deal with the legal issues afterwards.
  16. That's their point They really don't want you coming into their sandbox And if they can slide their dirty little bills through just like they always have, so much the better "Nothing to see here Move along"
  17. Too bad it didn't go UPS You could have diverted it prior to delivery AFAIK, no such option with USPS
  18. The quick connect and brake are an integral unit (not separable) and not threaded. Neither is the muzzle threaded. And yes, it is jersey-legal. I own 2 of them, having transferred them through undoubtedly the most knowledgible FFL in the state, PK90
  19. New Jersey would be very happy to correct this situation. They're going to do it by making sure you're not carrying anything you could put hollow points into. Why should they honor HR218 when they don't honor the US Constitution or the Bill of Rights? I believe NJ would like to become a gun-free state. The failed ammo bill earlier this week, along with the AG's desire to arrest regardless of HR218 are all pretext to abolishing Carry statewide so they can 'ignore/be exempt from' the CCW Reciprocity bill when it gets through the Senate, just like Illinois will. jmho
  20. They've not yet been disclosed, nor will they be until the amended bill is scheduled for a vote on the Assembly floor (even though it belongs in the Assembly gabage) But look what happens when the chair of a powerful committee considers a bill that he himself has sponsored
  21. And that's why you wear protective glasses and a brimmed (baseball-type) cap To shield your face (esp your eyes) as much as possible.
  22. I always pay in advance for the quantity I'm requesting And they show up in the mail when they're ready
  23. And on another note: "We're sorry that NJ is running out of Constitutional Rights today. The State Supreme Court says that's okay, as you can just go over the GW Bridge to Harlem to get some there. Good luck to you, Subject Citizen."
