can't co withness my iron sights with eotech opmod
jruch87 replied to SigSauer229's topic in Optics & Accessories
http://www.opmod.com/products.html assuming this is th optic you are referring to, you can read in the description that it has a 7mm raised base for lower 1/3 co-witness. The base is designed so that the moa dot will appear above the irons. What you are looking for is an absolute co-witness. To achieve absolute you should have purchased a standard eotech xps 2 instead of an opmod which seems the only difference is that it was designed for a lower 1/3 co-witness. You may be able to find a different mount for the optic which will move it closer to the rail. -
the black extractor insert denotes that it is a 5 coil spring vs the 4 coil this is a stiffer spring which causes the extractor to grab the rim better. There's already one on the extractor the one that came with it is a spare.

you only need to pin the muzzle brake on a semi auto rifle, i believe it may also need to be magazine fed for the evil features to kick in but im not sure and dont feel like looking it up now, either way the rem 700 being a bolt action is allowed to have a threaded barrel and therefore does not need to be pinned.
-
the legality is based on a combination of features, whether it is an ar style rifle or not is irrelevant. For a magazine fed semi auto rifle you are only allowed to have one of the evil features, usually on an m1a that feature is the flash hider, on an ar it is the pistol grip. On some of the m1a's there is a muzzle brake instead of a flash hider so theoretically you can have one more feature but I am unaware of any stocks that have a pistol grip or collapsible stock but not both. I suppose you would be able to buy an m1a with a compensator and put it in a sage ebr chassis as long as you pin the stock.

I had the stoeger for about 2 weeks and had nothing but problems with it. Would only fire off of one chamber, sent it to stoeger they sent it back saying nothing was wrong with it. Test fired it both rounds fired at the same time then went back to only firing one chamber. Mine might of been a lemon but I wouldn't recommend one.

as long as its a pump and holds less then 15 rounds its good in nj -
The GSG 5 Pistol is not legal it has a magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip and weighs more than 50 oz unloaded. Those are 2 of the evil features, I believe it may have a threaded barrel as well. If you mean the GSG 1911 that is a different gun which is legal in NJ. Bushmaster pistols are not legal for the same reasons, magazine location and weight.

Of all the handguns Ive shot my 1911 is by far the gun I am the most accurate with but I think it may also have to do with it being my only single action trigger

The higher end sigs are real nice. You have some beautiful guns there.

Strobes seem to be the new trend in tactical flashlight. Most of the new Streamlight models have a strobe I know the TLR series, sitnger and strion all have them in the LED variants. My strion has it and I cant find any use for it in LE

Looks like they have another one coming up on June 27th anyone planning on attending Ill try to go -
His pictures state otherwise. I stand by my assessment. All this spring replacement jive is at best (if it works) a band aid. The external extractor on Kimbers are a notoriously bad design. This why they are no longer used. My mistake I didnt look at his pictures and went off of my TLE/RL II which has the internal extractor and has run flawlessly
-
for all of you that said its the external extractor the Kimber TLE/RL II does not have one

Nice meeting everyone cant wait til next time -
Also in the generational change with the introduction of the .40 they changed from a 2 pin to a 3 pin.

The m&p 15-22 will not accept a standard ar upper. The lower is smaller than a normal AR and if I recall is made of a polymer not metal.
-
whats your opinion of the Chiappa 1911-22 ?
jruch87 replied to RedWhiteNBoltAction's topic in Handguns
Buddy of mine has one and ive shot it quite a bit. There is absolutely no possibility of converting to .45 as it has a fixed barrel. Its a fairly accurate gun and its reliable is what i would consider acceptable for a semi auto rimfire. We usually shoot the cheap bulk ammo and will get a stove pipe every few mags. This is a $250 gun so you cant expect too much from it but its a fun gun it serves no purpose other then the range. If your looking for a semi-auto 22 pistol I'd recommend it if your going for something on the 1911 platform look somewhere else as this is only a 1911 in appearance not function. -
Anybody ever try Sportsman Center on Rt 130 there website mentions reloading but I haven't been there since I got interested in reloading.
-
I believe the hole cannot go all the way through. only one side of the hole can be open so the pin cannot be pushed through

So if i mount a light on the rail it may cause a failure to eject problem? -Scott The only malfunctions I ever had with my glock was with a TLR1 mounted, I would get 3-4 malfunctions per mag this gun was manufactured 4/09 so its recent. However I know police departments that issue the 22 with the TLR which i dont think they would do if they had these problems. From what Ive read its due to the weight of the light and the frame flex and the polymer glock light does not cause this issue.
