  1. Welcome. Whaereabouts in Mercer County? Adios, Pizza Bob
  2. Hopefully I've piqued your interest. Allow me to recommend S&W (used) models 14, 15 or 67 in .38 Spl or 19 and 66 in .357 Magnum. You'll find that you if you look the .38's are only $100 to $200 higher than your tactical tupperware. If you want to step up to the magnums you'll be adding $200 to $500 to the price of the .38's depending on the particular gun. For the price you'll pay for the magnums you could also consider the next frame size up and look at 586/686 models. Always glad to give advice - I love spending OPM. Adios, Pizza Bob Here's a Model 15 Here's a Model 19 Both of these are equipped with stocks that would add quite a bit more the prices I quoted in the above post.
  3. Some early presses didn't have removable shell holders, you had to change the whole ram.
  4. Tactical Tupperware...meh. Look at a real gun - a S&W Revolver.
  5. It wasn't a Glock, it was a 1911. There was no thread because Howard (no longer on this forum - moved to a free state) signed a non-disclosure agreement.
  6. Bingo!!!!! If he is just buying the stock and not the shotgun equipped with the stock. and if that same stock can also be used on, say, an AR, I can't blame the vendor for not shipping it - especially considering the shenanigans of the AG.
  7. I just got back from examining this gun. It is pristine. Won't last long. Adios, Pizza Bob
  8. My enabler LGS has a S&W Model 14-3 (.38 Special, formerly known as the K-38 Target Masterpiece) in the rare SAO variation. He has already offered it to me, but I have my eye on several other prizes and passed. I don't think that he has set a price yet, but probably will later this afternoon (10/21). Most of you probably already know who my LGS is, but if not and you're interested, PM me. Adios, Pizza Bob
  9. Easton Fish & Game Assc, A little outside the 20 minute ride, but reasonable membership rates and decent facilities. http://www.efga.net/ I'm about 6 miles south of Lambertville they are welcome to direct any questions my way via the forum initially. Adios, Pizza Bob
  10. Almost bought one of those from Harry's (which tells you how long ago it was) - but lost interest when the omniscient counter guy kept referring to it as a "Mannlicher". I do have the rifle version of your Musket (which is why I wanted the Musket too)... But my favorite lever guns are my two Model 71's. One is an original Deluxe model with a three-digit serial number (first full year of production - 1936) and the other is a Winchester / Browning / Miroku High Grade. Both, of course, in .348 Winchester. And you thought I only liked revolvers. Adios, Pizza Bob
  11. Last night I was able to acquire a set of Fuzzy Farrant grips. I imagine not many of you know who that was, but Google will provide the answer. I bring that up because it got me thinking about how I knew about Fuzzy Farrant and who taught me. You may or may not remember this thread... ...but the support and good thoughts garnered from the board after posting it will always be remembered. It was, indeed, Leo who introduced me to the story of Fuzzy Farrant and the grips he made. I haven't had any contact with Leo since my trip to see him last October. I had been through the whole dementia thing with both my mother and father and I just couldn't bring myself to go back - selfishly preferring to remember him as I knew him best. And then Covid happened and there was no way I could have seen him even had I wanted to. I did monitor what the progress of the virus was with respect to our veteran's homes, and the facility where Leo was housed fared pretty well. So thinking of him I e-mailed Scott (from the original post) to see about Leo's status. I'm sad to report that my buddy Leo passed away in May of this year. It brings me solace to know that he is finally at peace, but I will truly miss the Leo I once knew. Adios, Pizza Bob
  12. Not one of my favorite places, but aren't you close to TTC in Flemington? Nothing wrong with wheel guns. I'd say that your friend has impeccable taste. LOL. Adios, Pizza Bob
  13. I've kind of refined my search. I have narrowed the parameters to an original (as opposed to the Classic) Model 58 in the blued finish. If I can't find a suitable candidate, I'll probably go a whole different direction. Thanks. Adios, Pizza Bob
  14. Anybody here have one that they'd be willing to part with? Nickel or Blue - original or Classic Series (priced accordingly). I know, doubtful, but on the off-chance....drop me a PM Adios, Pizza Bob
  15. Just a reminder for anyone considering the purchase of a gun safe. Unless Murphy has changed it, there is no sales tax on a gun safe. Adios, Pizza Bob
  16. Yes. But the "other than NJ FFL" may not want to fill it out - nor does he really need to. This is a NJ regulation and since NJSP have no jurisdiction in any state but NJ, an out of state FFL will never be audited by a NJ law enforcement entity. Might be wise to fill one out and keep it for your records. Adios, Pizza Bob
  17. Maggie (a GSP) and I. That's Maggie on the right. She's even grayer now - with Andy Rooney eyebrows. Adios, Pizza Bob
  18. While FARS has added some transparency to the system, it begs for more. I believe that the hold-up in 99% of the cases is at the local PD level. I believe that the local PD is still being tasked with doing some kind of background check on the applicants once they clear the FARS system. Without the above transparency, we have no idea what that entails or how it is conducted. If you are known to the local PD and are a frequent firearms purchaser (ahem) they may not do a complete background check or waive it altogether. They probably have some latitude so the checks may be cursory in nature - who know? I have heard rumors that they will be eliminating the paper permits and going fully electronic. Once you are approved and you are at the point of purchase, the FFL will simply download your pre-approved permit. That still doesn't tell us it it eliminates the local investigation component, but it will lessen our trips to the PD. Adios, Pizza Bob
  19. Incorrect. PA is a POC (Point of Contact) state just like NJ. NICS (called PICS in PA) is handled by the PASP, not directly with the federal (FBI) system. That is not to say that they are as backed up as the NJ system, but you may not get the instantaneous check afforded by the direct federal system. Check with the dealer before you part with your cash or you may be making a second long trip to PA. Adios, Pizza Bob
  20. True! It's even got a picture of me sitting down (must be in front of my computer) on a blue background. How thoughtful of them. Adios, Pizza Bob
  21. I understand the economics of what he proposes - I'm just saying we should be more concerned, at this point, about the immediate effects to our community rather than the long term effects on the state as a whole. We are also dealing with a denial of our constitutional rights as opposed to just a skewed democratic economic plan. Adios, Pizza Bob
