  1. The reason I ask is, I prepared and am not hurt by this. I figuratively have people whining at my door step. Where were their heads a year ago?
  2. I have a question for you folks. Were you surprised by the ammo shortage? Didn't you see it coming? How are you handling it?
  3. Depending on what your intention is...Run to Walmart in PA and take your choice.
  4. Yep free states rule! Only one problem. Expenses are a wash. What you save on taxes you spend on guns. Just set up a digital night vision scope on my suppressed hunting rifle, zeroing today.
  5. Just an experience that happened recently. I was loading 45acp with CFE Pistol, Hodgdon says w/ a 200gr SWC 7.4-8.2grs So I'm no green horn....I load 7.8grs. Toooo Hot! Not blow up the gun hot but flat primers and not real tight groups. But it's a 1911. Don't like a steady diet of hot, plus I want a soft accurate load. I go down to 7.4grs. much better but a little stiffer than I want for quick follow up shots. accuracy pretty good. Now I'm gonna drop another .2grs and dare not go below that. I still have reasonable case volume so not too concerned. Essentially I consider reloading manuals a source/guide with loads that won't blow your face off. But, starting loads are there for a reason. BTW my bullet selection and COL are within spec. Just my $.02
  6. Brian - No argument here! BTW decaping automatically clears the flash hole
  7. Good doctor - I kind of agree and disagree. The thing that can screw you up is if there is a carbon deposit built up at the base of the pocket. If so your primer may not seat properly. Other than that, minimal positive benefits are experienced. Now in my experience most benchrest guys do clean and uniform primer pockets and flash hole. But they're crazy anyways.
  8. What the forum experience with the digital day/night scopes at about $5-600?
  9. A inexpensive monocular isn't going to rifle mount. The key to inexpensive night vison( gen 1 or 2) is as good an IR illuminator as you want to get.
  10. My go to AR is a 20" heavy barrel with carry handle irons. Why? For me it's better for shooting quickly and accurately around the yard. Maybe 25-100 yds or longer. I could always grab my wife's 16" Bushmaster with illuminated optics but I like something heavy in my hands as long as I don't have to hump it all day in day out. Though I find the carbines very useful, I have an affinity for the 20" rifles of old.
  11. Replaced my old genny with an 11kw Generac. $2700 with switch gear. Replacement of genny and switch gear 6 hours and I had to run 65' of signal wire in pipe. I'm old and slow. Propane baby!!!
  12. Well here midway between Charleston and Beaufort but also 45minutes off the coast. Full tank of propane for the standby generator. Freezer has a 3/4 drawer full of venison and on a well. Not in a flood zone(so far). Bring it on!
  13. My understanding is each state has a given number of agents dedicated to processing NFA stamps. Dependent on the volume each state has and the number of agents the, time will vary accordingly. Paul - does that sound correct?
  14. I'd be more than happy to send you a blank copy of my trust but they are state specific and useless to you.. I highly recommend forming a trust. If for no other reason than the right of survivorship, Survivorship meaning your inability to possess restricted devices for any reason.
  15. All true but the person in question would have to be removed by resolution or language of the trust if a person becomes ineligible. Hey what do I know?
  16. Depends on how your trust is written and if you will be restricted from access to the said devices. BTW no beer for you. Not while you're in the yard shooting suppressed.
  17. The logistics could be complicated. Where would the stamped item reside when not in use? At "Casa Maksim"? Would you need an appointment to check it out? Just sayin' Now @PK90 - I own a couple of cans and have a trust. Do you need to notify BATF when you cross state lines with a can like you do with a "full auto"?
  18. So the rules seem a little vague. BUT>>> I'd give it a try.
  19. Forget that cannelure.. Neck tension baby. Sure you want to check you're not getting set back. But don't worry about it. BTW trim you case to spec. The more neck the more neck tension
  20. PM me and I'll give you a pet load that pushes a 55gr FMJ about 2800fps fully cycles and is good for plinking. Under 1 MOA too. @Maksim BTW where are you moving to after PA puts in all their new firearms restrictions?
  21. CFE 223 measures very well out of my Dillon + - .1gr out of Ideal 55 as well.
