    SoI get it.....

*but*, sometimes the inverse is true....start at MINIMUM and work your way up...AVOID MAX LOADS...

Until you are 1000000000% sure that everything else is spot on in spec...

Whats the headspace of your rifle, no wrong word....test gun?

Just an experience that happened recently. I was loading 45acp with CFE Pistol,  Hodgdon says w/ a 200gr SWC 7.4-8.2grs

So I'm no green horn....I load 7.8grs.  Toooo Hot!  Not blow up the gun hot but flat primers and not real tight groups.

But it's a 1911.  Don't like a steady diet of hot, plus I want a soft accurate load.   I go down to 7.4grs.  much better but a little stiffer than I want for quick follow up shots. accuracy pretty good.  Now I'm gonna drop another .2grs and dare not go below that.  I still have reasonable case volume so not too concerned. Essentially I consider reloading manuals a source/guide with loads that won't blow your face off. But, starting loads are there for a reason.

BTW my bullet selection and COL are within spec.

    Just my $.02

You only have to uniform the flash hole once. You need to make certain EVERY TIME that the flash hole is not clogged by anything (typically corn cob (dry tumble) or stainless pins (wet tumble))

A high primer in an AR round is a slamfire just waiting to happen, so a CLEAN primer pocket is necessary for safety's sake.

Uniforming the primer pocket is a brass-specific decision. So yes, it could be a sign of a crazy mind if it wasn't necessary to begin with.

Brian - No argument here! BTW decaping automatically clears the flash hole

If you are cleaning primer pockets you are wasting time... especially if you are not shooting benchrest.

You can clean them if you want, but the vast majority of guys and gals I know from the precision game quit doing that.

Unless you dug up the brass that had been deprimed and then burried, there is little reason to.  It's simply overkill.

Good doctor - I kind of agree and disagree.  The thing that can screw you up is if there is a carbon deposit built up at the base of the pocket.  If so your primer may not seat properly.  Other than that, minimal positive benefits are experienced.  Now in my experience most benchrest guys do clean and uniform primer pockets and flash hole.  But they're crazy anyways.

  4. My go to AR is a 20" heavy barrel with carry handle irons.  Why?  For me it's better for shooting quickly and accurately around the yard. Maybe 25-100 yds or longer.  I could always grab my wife's 16" Bushmaster with illuminated optics but I like something heavy in my hands as long as I don't have to hump it all day in day out.

Though I find the carbines very useful, I have an affinity for the 20" rifles of old.

Same, I always keep 3 cases of water rotated in the closet anyway. There is always construction going on and you never know when they may nick a water main.  Same for power. I have 3 propane tanks I rotate for my grill. My inverter runs about 20 hours per tank. Plenty of power for the fridge, window ac, tv, and swap plugs for microwave etc.  The propane doesn’t go bad, doesn’t gum up the genny, burns clean, runs longer than that micro sized gas tank on the inverter.

Replaced my old genny with an 11kw Generac.  $2700 with switch gear.  Replacement of  genny  and switch gear 6 hours and I had to run 65' of signal wire in pipe.  I'm old and slow.  Propane baby!!!

About 10 months for individual and seems to be speeding up.

My understanding is each state has a given number of agents dedicated to processing NFA stamps.  Dependent on the volume each state has and the number of agents the, time will vary accordingly.

Paul - does that sound correct?

    Correct.

Wondering if there is any case law on this yet. lol.

Have not looked at Trust docs as the stuff I bought since moving has been in my own name, not trust.

I'd be more than happy to send you a blank copy of my trust but they are state specific and useless to you..  I highly recommend forming a trust.  If for no other reason than the right of survivorship,  Survivorship meaning your inability to possess restricted devices for any reason.

Trust is its own entity. I could see the trust being forced to remove the trustee but the trust itself should be safe. And PA does not have red flag laws... Yet

All true but the person in question would have to be removed by resolution or language of the trust if a person becomes ineligible.  Hey what do I know?

Gents - As I live still behind the lines - I have an investment collection - my daughter and soon to be husband (marriage in Oct in Charleston Hint hint for a beer there Frank... :) ) live in PA.

How does a trust work with these new ERPO - or Red Flag BS items ?

Say someone gets some shit in their craw and makes a BS call on me - in lieu of them seizing the weapons will it fall to another trustee as opposed to be placed in an evidence locker and rusting?

    thoughts?

Depends on how your trust is written and if you will be restricted from access to the said devices.

BTW no beer for you.  Not while you're in the yard shooting suppressed.

How many people would be interested in this idea?

The logistics could be complicated.  Where would the stamped item reside when not in use? At "Casa Maksim"?

Would you need an appointment to check it out?  Just sayin'

Now @PK90  - I own a couple of cans and have a trust.  Do you need to notify BATF when you cross state lines with a can like you do with a "full auto"?

Ok, so I tried to get the OAL to 2.200 as per the load data. I trimmed the case down to 1.731 and the cannelure is still sinking all the way down. As an FYI, these are Berry's 55gr FMJBTs.

Forget that cannelure.. Neck tension baby.  Sure you want to check you're not getting set back.  But don't worry about it.

BTW trim you case to spec.  The more neck the more neck tension

Wow. I have a lb... Will have to try it.  I have everything to reload 223 on my progressive but generally loaded rifle on the single stages.

PM me and I'll give you a pet load that pushes a 55gr FMJ about 2800fps fully cycles and is good for plinking.  Under 1 MOA too.

@Maksim  BTW where are you moving to after PA puts in all their new firearms restrictions?

Ah. Yes. 8208 and metering. It is pretty good out of my electronic dispenser butbhave not tried in hornady or Lyman powder measures.

    How doesnCFE223 measure?

CFE 223 measures very well out of my Dillon + -  .1gr out of Ideal 55 as well.
