I have 2 of the Sony ICF38 that dig0770 linked. Great little radio, old one had TV stations too. Has a cord that stores in the battery compartment. Take it camping, would last a weeks on AA batteries. Has on/off switch.

Hoping someone with more computer knowledge might be able to help. Desktop was working fine this morning. No hardware changes and no software changes that I know of. When I turned it on this afternoon, it locked in the windows open screen. Reset the power- it went to windows recovery. Locked out. Tried again, it opened finally. Went to open IE, it froze, went to black screen, looking for boot device. Reset, went into Bios, checked boot order, seems correct. It opened once in safe mode but won't again. Thinking hard drive crash. Windows 7-64 MSI Z77A motherboard 16GB Ram EVGA GTX 680 Videocard Thermaltake 850w powersupply 128 GB SSD primary harddrive 1.5 TB backup harddrive Hoping I have a recent image backup on the backup hard drive. Siderman, I'm in the business also. 95% of the noise issues I come across- are air related. I would give the system a good purge first, as long as your near boiler piping is correct. Next, I would do as Deerslayer suggested, and add a micro-bubble removal device (Spiro-vent, Honeywell PV, B&G). Remove the can vent. Check your piping- Is the pump pumping away from the expansion tank/fill valve? You can find a ton of useful info on heatinghelp.com regarding near boiler piping. Your heating system is a closed system, it shouldn't be getting fresh water so it shouldn't see scale build up like a water heater. If you could, take a video of the noise and post it. Deerslayer or myself could probably tell right away from the noise if it is scale or air. Shane

As Bhunted pointed out, get the forms through Fema. Have an elevation survey done, send copies to Fema with application forms. I had my home excluded from the flood map about 7-8 years ago. I needed 12 feet above sea level. Survey found the top of my foundation was 12' 6". My flood insurance was about $2000.00 a year for structure only (NO contents). It was a joke. If you let the flood lapse, the mortgage company buys it for you at a higher rate. If the survey is in your favor, you send the forms, you receive a "letter of map amendment" from Fema, you do a happy dance and send copies to your mortgage company. If your home is below the required height, you can appeal, but will be more difficult. Survey cost me $600 (7-8 years ago)

The bottom port is most likely a clean out, If they are connected to each other. This is a good thing.

DO NOT USE ANY ACID BASED(liquid plumber) DRAIN CLEANERS!!! Do not use a drain cleaning liquid. If your plumbing is newer- they don't really work. If your plumbing is older- they cause damage. Snake it out or hire someone that can.

As JackD points out, get a mask and open it up. I say this as a homeowner and plumber. Get rid of the moldy sheetrock and take some more pictures and post them. One us might be able to make further suggestions. If you were in my area, it would cost less if the wall was open already.

Unfortunately, the stopper is not usually sold by itself. I keep an assortment on my truck to save the day once in a while, but usually it is just easier to replace the whole pop-up assembly. The stoppers and lift rods are not universal, as I am sure you know. The pop-up assemblies are sold with the lavatory faucets, so if the pop-up was replaced with the faucet, it might give you a place to start. If you know the faucet brand. Or just go to a plumbing supply house and treat yourself to a new faucet with a new metal pop-up assembly. DO NOT buy a faucet from the home centers with the plastic pop-up.

Welcome to the forum. Just to add. I have the P226, like it a lot. A .22 conversion kit is available. Like having another pistol without burning a permit. Found it very useful teaching my wife to shoot.

Definitely get a second opinion. I am a plumber, not a chimney specialist, but it really does not look bad from the pictures. If the damper does not work anymore, there are options as well. Make it safe, but you shouldn't have to replace the whole thing.

Also, check for leaks. I see condensation very often when there is toilet leak. Sometimes you can't even hear a flapper leak, depending on the type of fill valve.

That pricing is really pretty fair. As long as the water heater was coming from a supply house and not a home center. I use Bradford White or AO Smith. It sounds like they are doing more than just a water heater replacement and faucet replacement as well. There should be a permit fee for the water heater on top of the price quoted too.

Tony, How has the Air-O-Swiss been after a week. I have HW baseboard, so no whole house for us. I have waited too long this year and now have bloody nose this week. Was looking at the AOS 7147 on Amazon, have used the cheap Holmes last couple of years and have not been impressed. This unit is for the bedroom so noise would be important as well. Thank You
