  1. I know some British armour used Whitworth fasteners, all I know is "normal" tools don't work and if you mess one up good luck replacing it...
  2. It doesn't matter if it's a flash hider or not, since it's not a semi automatic rifle with a detachable magazine the 2 feature clause is irrelevant. That being said, it's not a flash hider anyways. It's a spigot type rifle grenade discharger.
  3. For 25-200 you should be fine with a non-magnified optic. What exactly are you trying to do? I use a Vortex Spitfire ARII which is a Prism style "red dot", and I have no issues out to 600 yards with it on man sized targets. Out to 400 is fine with smaller targets like 10-12" plates. It's also wicked fast close in due to the large rings around the center dot.
  4. I think the advertising is hilarious. It's so good it adds accuracy shooting from the hip, when you aren't even using the sight!
  5. I think Screwball hit the nail on the head. Since you legally obtained what NJ views as a firearm out of state, since it's not a gun out of state, and since you are not a prohibited persons, as long as you operate within the rest of NJ laws...you're good to go. The conversion itself doesn't matter, because even before the conversion the revolver was a firearm within NJ. You're just modifying a firearm, one that was procured legally out of state and brought in and is otherwise compliant. This is my opinion and not legal advice.
  6. Shongum has a pit you can use to do holster work, moving, reloads, etc
  7. It's direct blowback so the gas pressure went out the chamber end as the bolt never locks
  8. I am aware of at least one other person doing the same thing and having no issues with the FID
  9. Huh, I have no clue. The tractor trailer? the big one? I haven't owned any other big stuff
  10. Oh, the scout car? That's still kickin around as well
  11. Nice rifle! That NHM-91 is worth around ~$1k They have not been imported for decades, nor will they ever be imported again. I'm glad it's not being turned into rebar!
  12. Strider, You won't find anyone on this board that will advise you turning a firearm in to the police. There are much more beneficial to you methods of disposing of it legally, like selling it for several hundred dollars instead of getting a $25 gift card at a buy back. Furthermore, selling it to another supporter of the 2a is better for our community than having it destroyed and touted by the anti-gun community as another "military grade assault rifle" off the streets. Don't allow it to become a statistic for their benefit.
  13. I have a bull shadow 2 and I love it. It shoots stupid flat. The biggest differences between the shadow and the SP-01 include but are not limited to; Shadow is heavier (larger frame) Shadow has longer sight radius Shadow has better/more checkering Undercut trigger guard The trigger does not have a firing pin block, so when compared to an SP01 even with the block removed, the shadow trigger is better and has greater potential That's comparing stock vs stock shadow vs an SP01. Realize that the differences are fundamental and not "bolt on" items Also I'm not comparing to my gun which is a different animal as mine is a bull shadow 2 (custom slide and barrel) further modified. I would get the shadow unless you have a specific "duty" purpose in mind for the SP01. I would say the shadow wins hands down in all other regards.
  14. Well, Taran's been flashing around some new 2011s....
  15. My vote is for the vickers 2 point padded. My purpose is competition, your mileage may vary. I have QDs on my shotgun as well allowing me to use it for both.
  16. This is my build by Angus @ CZ Custom. It's a bull shadow slide/barrel on a shadow 2 frame with adjustable sights milled in, a fiber front, #11 recoil spring, SA trigger, magwell, & LOK grips. It's my racegun. Weighs around 50oz, makes 1911s feel light. It's in 9x19 and it recoils completely flat. Photo cred to my awesome wife!
  17. GLS is better since it's passive retention. It comes out when you grab the gun, but it does not come out otherwise (and I have had myself/gun upside down on a stage before and also have fallen with it) I have and have competed both with a CZ75b SA, which shares holsters with the SP01 since it doesn't have the lightened front end of the slide like a regular 75b. It fits GREAT in this holster which is mentioned above https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UTMDT2U/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I also have a (Bull) shadow 2, which requires the slightly wider one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FIK1SX4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  18. Here are my thoughts point for point: 1). No, both are the same gas system so you're talking about a meaningless velocity difference in between the two and 1.5" of length. If a teeny bit of weight or length doesn't have a huge importance to you then 16" will be the most cost effective. 2.) Flip sights are easier for future upgrades if you decide you want to do optics. This way if the front sight tower annoys you, you fold it down or remove it. With the fixed FSB, you could always cut off the tower and cold-blue it turning it into a poor mans low profile gas block so you aren't 100% locked into your choice should you go a different route in the future. However, with these short barrels, you may want a longer handguard and longer handguards on short barrels typically go beyond the gas block. which means the fixed FSB is a no-go That being said I would encourage you to do the upper that isn't the fixed FSB, or plan on cutting the fixed FSB down on the 14.5 right away and putting on a good handguard right off the bat. 3.) It's a "good" hand guard. Better than a plain plastic hunk 4.) Last time I bought a BCM upper, I HAD to get the 14.5" as it's the only length they pin comps on (since it's a fed thing). Maybe they'll do it for a 16" (phone call?) since they clearly have the capability, but I don't think they offer it up front. The 14.5" has a lug that would need removing, the 16" does not. You can receive it with the lug, it is not a firearm.
  19. I use these and I like them a lot. I can't tolerate over the ear headphones with long guns but I wanted electronics so this is were I landed and they are nice! https://www.ebay.com/p/3M-Peltor-Tep-100-Tactical-Digital-Earplug/9011945909?iid=372364584536&chn=ps
  20. Ray, I don't understand why you make a semi auto malfunction sound impossible. I've seen then cleared hundreds of times with other peoples guns in matches. Most of them are cleared in 2-3 seconds or less. If you train so hard that you will never fail a pump gun, why don't you also train how to clear a malfunction? This is all not taking into consideration that while a firearms mechanical reliability won't drop under stress, that doesn't mean your ability won't drop. And you need more ability to run a pump gun under stress.
  21. I used to have the same belief, but I've come to learn that in practice a pump is less reliable. Not due to the shotgun itself, but under pressure they are prone to operator failure via short strokes. So, maybe a pump is 99.9% mechanically reliable and a good auto is 99% mechanically reliable. However, unless you wrap your hand around the bolt while you're shooting, you're not going to have stress induced failure with an auto. In practice, it winds up making the pumps more prone to failure. It's not the guns fault, but it's a failure nonetheless and both equipment and operator failure will kill you just as dead. Zeke, as far as 930 love, none here. I've seen it fail Jerry a bunch of times and while I wasn't at world shoot, I did see the video of Lena's breaking in half mid-stage over there. If I recall correctly, it's because she wound up having to mortar it after a malfunction. She cleared the malfunction and then the stage after the gun broke completely in half.
