  1. My guess is so long as you don't mod your Glock the other way, less pounds, you'll be good with prosecutors. Mandating a mod on a gun seems excessive not that I wouldn't put it past NJ legislators. On a different note, how many think that voters will like having carry permits and the politicians won't be as aggressive thinking up new firearm laws. As the gun culture grows here, people won't want Trenton playing with their newly found rights.
  2. The over arching theme to all the bureaucratic nonsense is paperwork, lots of paperwork. The NJSP and local PD are not checking to see if the gun ranges are running a multi hour course and counting how many rounds are in the Q-target. So long as everyone has the paperwork in order, this whole thing moves along. My gun club still hasn't offered a qualifying course, they are overthinking this. The president even said it would take at least a year for this to go through the courts before we could carry. He was so wrong. Same goes for qualifying. GFH offers what they know works for security and retired LEO. Some local NRA instructor flat out refused to offer a class for this because the directives were so vague. I kind of knew to run as fast as possible to get everything submitted before Trenton had a chance to change things. Folks who apply in a few months may have a wholly different experience.
  3. I put 5 make/model/serial# on my Shooters form. There is no limit apparently and the retired NJSP instructor said that per the statute they didn't even have to do live fire, only teach use of force and then you demonstrate you know how to safely handle a gun. We shot one gun each anyway but the form shows I qualified with 5, the 5 I listed. They never even tallied the Q targets to see how many hit. The only the person who flunked out was someone who's gun kept jamming. They sent her packing and said she needs to clean it and come back.
  4. For now we all go through the process as is. Once all the civil rights lawsuits start to roll out, text and history at the time of the ratification of the 2nd & 14th amendment, most of this silliness will end. The people who write the NJ bills are not firearms savvy, they are just frightened children trying to stop the bad guns.
  5. Lakewood Scoop reporting on permits https://thelakewoodscoop.com/news/photo-residents-begin-receiving-their-ccw-permits/
  6. Great news. That tells me Judge Gizinski in Ocean County is actually signing off on permits.
  7. First time I left NJ to a state that accepted a FL non-resident, it was weird. Took a few days to get used to it. This will be "old hat" for all of us soon enough. Congratulations.
  8. this letter from the NJSP should help Yahoo Mail - Response to question.pdf
  9. Wonder why the permit is for only 22 months instead of the statutory 2 years?, never mind wrote that before reading all the comments
  10. In June I went to the NJAG website and submitted a question. They forwarded that to the NJSP who sent me an email. As far as I know, this is the latest most accurate information available. This should, in one place, clarify all the questions for the application process. Of course, some towns are making stuff up as they go along. If you have any further questions, I would email the trooper who wrote the response as he is probably the designated POC for the public. If your town is not following the rules, the ANJRPC has a task force that will reach out via an attorney to inform them of their misdeeds. From what I've heard and read, they have been very effective bringing towns into compliance. Some will have to be dragged into court but most have complied. Join that organization as a non-range member, it's cheap, and that supports all the efforts they are making to restore our lost rights. Yahoo Mail - Response to question.pdf
  11. Nice, I had an unconfirmed report that early on, GFH was saying they just had two people get permits but this person I spoke with said that they were retired LEO. It would be nice to know if this fellow/gal is not part of the old exempt class that could get carry permits or is this one of the new group like us trying for the first time.
  12. Got a call from the TRPD. I emailed the Administrative Secretary who I've been talking to and she reached back around. My packet was signed by the chief and sent off to the court. I called the Ocean County courts and spoke with a very nice woman in Justice Gizinski's offices. She said that they just received some applications form TR. I also asked her very directly if the judge has been signing off and sending permits back to the towns. She said yes, they are moving them through. Looks like for Ocean County this is a real thing now, stunning.
  13. I'm in Toms River and that's what my PD accepted. Single sheet with my name/address/NJFPID#. I attest to ownership of the following handguns I intend to carry. The pistol purchase permits are on file with the TRPD and the NJSP. Then I listed make/model/serial# for each. Signed and dated in front of the notary and she notarized it.
  14. Judge is still necessary because the statute has not changed. The only change is NJAG directive which removes the "justifiable need" from the process. Everything else is the same. HA, I hadn't scrolled down all the way yet, thanks man.
  15. Great news, so it sounds like the court is not sitting on these. Who did you speak with, what extension? I'm in TR. Thanks
  16. No one thought (A) SCOTUS would give us the decision we got. Read some of the comments in the forums, they are laughable now, ha and (B) the NJAG would send out a directive the very next day. Judges do not like to be overturned, it's like being publicly humiliated. They have the cover they need now to keep their progressive creds in tact. This may move faster than we think, we should be hopefully optimistic.
  17. Years ago I was in a steel competition. Township cop rolls up and see's a hundred people with handguns in holsters. He never even got out of his car. I was thinking he was the one out of place not us. Never thought we'd be able to step off the club property with a loaded handgun but here we are now. I'm split with carry options. In the country or woods open should be fine. On the streets in your neighborhood, well it will take a while for people to get used to the idea. I'd recommend concealed for now. If too many people freak out the legislature may write a bill stating no open carry which then as someone pointed out, can led to trouble with PD. If we remain a carry state then if your muzzle or grip butt pops out from under cover, PD can't harass you or worse. It's like an NRA sticker on your car. You're inviting someone to follow you home to see where some guns are for a future robbery. We should all be smart and carry discreet. My two cents.
  18. It's going to be a judge in the Criminal Division, go search on your county's Superior Court. May take a phone call or two.
  19. I thought there was chatter amongst the legislator and the gov about mandating insurance? BTW, the story above references an executive order so it's one of those squishy things that is not in the statutes but state agencies end up following. I've been looking around to see if ANJRPC or others have anything to say about insurance.
