  1. As a side note, instinctive shooting is bad juju. But before this devolves into an unintended conversation, clarification is in order. I would bet that Maks does not actually mean instinctive shooting. If you were actually instinctive shooting you would have no reference points. So let me explain what I mean. I once shot a stage at an IPSC match and I forgot to turn my dot on. Luckily the stage had no really far shots. But I didnt stop to turn it on even though my pistol had no irons. I had a few C's etc etc but I had zero mikes. Did I shoot it instinctive? Absolutely not! I had a big giant ghost ring to index off of. There are some that are proponents of aiming every shot. And given their credentials, I am not going to argue the point with them. But I do know that I can shoot fast and accurately enough, "seeing what I need to see". So it might not be a full front sight picture but I am still using other parts of the gun as a sight of some sorts. It just might not be the actual sights that im using. This is not instinctive shooting to me as I am still indexing off of something. So I do not have a concern if my dot failed. I really like suppressor height sights to begin with so cowitt will not be an issue for me.
  2. Shooting a carry oriented optic on a pistol HAS A STEEP LEARNING CURVE! If your not willing to embark on that, pass! I shot a red dot in IPSC competition in the late 90's. I always theorised one day it would make the jump to carry. Took longer than I expected. But I figured that all my dot experience would make it an easy transition for me. I was wrong! The abbreviated window of carry optics changes the dynamic quite a bit. So there is considerable technique to learn. But it would seem that once you do, your accuracy and speed can exceed what you can do with irons for most people. But there are a few specific places they become a real advantage. Eyesight was already mentioned. I'm finding myself in that category. My eyes are at a stage where I just cant bring the front sight into focus. If my arms were 4 inches longer I'd be good. Im supposed to get progressive lenses but I dont know what complications thats going to add. :/ But another area that a dot has a GIANT advantage over irons is low light situations. Here there is just no comparison in my opinion. So yes Im sure there is the crowd that just follows the trends without even understanding why the cool kids are doing it. Thats with everything. But there are valid reasons and advantages to the pursuit.
  3. Im probably going to direct mill an aimpoint ACRO into my VP9.
  4. Parker, I agree with most of what your saying. I always believed that rem missed the boat big time by not making 260 match ammo readily available for the market that was clearly trending that way. I have a strong certainty that they were advised as such but didn't listen. 6.5 cm proved that was a big mistake on their part. But I would guess that 6.5 would be picked over 260 now because they want caliber commonality. Some units have KAC's in 6.5, SOCOM officially adopted 6.5, and mil has always valued cal cominality. Just a theory.
  5. The point being Bolts, adopted long ago, the fringe just finally figuring it out, or not (Ray Ray). Semi's, adoption achieved. Full Auto, belt fed meaning it has infiltrated every corner of 308'dom. RR, FN dont prototype shit unless theres money behind it in a big way...as in someone is asking for it.
  6. For those that argued the case for 308 and claimed 6.5 is just boutique, I think this underlines my position... https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2019/05/20/fn-unveils-machine-gun-in-65-creedmoor/
  7. I do not shoot steel cased ammo in my rifles. I do not have personal experience to draw from. So my comments are from conversations and observations and thus should be weighed accordingly. I think your rifle will tell you if you can shoot steel or not. They tend to not seal the chamber as well as brass. That could account for the other posters drop in POI. Less seal, less velocity. This can also make it run dirtier. But if its not an expensive rifle and your not seeking match accuracy, I dont see any major objection if the rifle can digest it.
  8. A coherent thought, someday you will have one....
  9. Who said it was a Military display? Based on the Theme being NH based, given the tag, I think your making assumptions....again. Your assertion on more reliable is based on what? A test Larry Vickers did had the Custom 1911 and an HK USP as exceedingly reliable compared to other pistols. How many rounds have you put through high end 1911's? Your Dicky comment about rich guys holds no water with me. Its pure bullshit. Ill take 1 NH over a drawer full of Glocks, Sigs, Beretta's etc etc. And thats the choice I made even back in the days of $11 an hour. If I could only afford a Glock, so be it but I certainly could appreciate a fine 1911 and wouldn't comfort myself with some imagined shortcoming for those that can afford better. In the words of Rob Dyrdek "Do more work son".
  10. M9 over NH, yer funny!
  11. Link dead or page removed. I'd be interested to know if Facebook pulled it!

  14. He's a rocker! His buddy is more into classical music The Amazon(Green one) is not a music lover. He like old movies.
  15. No. Initially they though my Green Wing Macaw had cancer in his eye. The good news is that he doesnt. However, he did get a bad cataract and had an underlying eye infection and is now blind in the eye. Just getting to that point was 3k. Now to remove the cataract is another 3k when the time comes. But he is worth it, he is my buddy! https://photos.app.goo.gl/FkPt7nuyhDYayMg5A 20190117_200859.mp4

  17. I find the Revell case a good example where common sense did not prevail and those in authority marched forward... https://www.leagle.com/decision/infco20100322054
  18. Nope, didnt watch it. But Im not talking about one of ones. Im talking about the issue and glocks in general.
  19. Nope, there is a mass of people that shoot low/left with the Glock. My belief is there is something inherent in its design that promotes trigger push or frame contact or some such thing. An easy way to possibly get an indicator if its that is to shoot it lefty. But it would seem that those with very good trigger technique do not experience the L/L issue even from a Glock handed over from a person with such an affliction.
  20. Very carefully and methodically seek the "surprise brake" shooting lefty and let me know if its still shooting left.
  21. You dont have that issue with an ACOG because its an etched reticle, not a projected dot. However, if memory serves, the way the etched reticle is reflected off the prism, it can have its own issues with astigmatism that causes you to lose some of the reticle image. And even though they make a 1.5x acog, I hate that .5! It sucks my eye in! I feel like I see green better too!
  22. Do I remember correctly that you have some astigmatism issues? It seems to be a consensus that the MRO is better than most other dots for people that have an astigmatism. I know that Eo's have been particularly bad for mine. Plus I dont like Eotech for a number of reasons. So MRO vote here.
