  1. only a grenade when you use bad reloads.

we have been getting a lot of positive feedback from the few already owners of Glock who decided to buy the Gen. 4. Ones that own the 22 and 35 say the recoil spring works way better. A lot of our glock shooters have been hesitant on buying this pistol. It really hasn't been a good seller for us since Glock will not allow us to sell it for anything under 595. I wanted to run a special when they first came out because we had a large shipment and my sales rep almost had a hernia.

  2. As an FFL dealer I would also not be able to do this. The ATF says that we should take an active effort in being able to detect a straw purchase. If I was helping you and you called a friend and talked how you were getting it for him I would not sell you the gun. I would just be paranoid that it could be a setup. Now a days you really dont know how far the anti-gun government in NJ would do. Nowadays business has been good, dont want to ruin a good thing for my members and I.

  3. tbtrout - I am glad that you will be coming to check us out again. This is a family ran business and if you talk to any one with a firearms store its not easy. There is a ton of things that go into running a gun shop let a lone running a range. After running it for about 7 years my father was really burnt out from working 7 days a week. At this time he pretty much paid guys to run the shop into the ground. These are probably the times when you came in, when many came in which probably never will again. Fast forward to the last couple years. I came on to work full time with my father after college. We realized that certain people were not right with how we wanted to run the shop. We redid the whole retail area and did some different renovations on the range and range area. Now we pride ourselves in our customer service and our inventory.

  4. Has anyone seen the new Evan Nappen book? It is the "bible" for New Jersey Firearm laws. Its a bright orange book. I have one that was giving to me as a gift but it is the collectors edition and I dont even want to open it and bend the spine. As used books that I believe were original published in 93 were fetching 100 dollars easily on ebay.

We used the old one religiously as guide as it is way easier to read and understand then the Blue Book of New Jersey Criminal Law the state gives you!

Any feedback on these new versions would be greatly appreciated.

  5. Do not stray from this gun because of reviews that say it is hard to take apart or put back together. It is so easy once you figure out how to do it.

There are even a ton of youtube videos that break these guys down step by step showing you exactly what to look for. I always recommend taking advantage of technology in helping you to understand your firearms better. These guns are great!

    Mosquitos are DEFINANTLY ammo sensitive.

Other great plinkers but pricey Beretta Target 87 and Smith & Wesson Model 41. These guns shoot like dreams. If you have a couple extra bucks these will definantly not disappoint. Although in firearms of that caliber you would also wants to use a high grade type of ammo. Check those 2 out up to par with the high end HIGH STANDARDS that are no longer in business.

  6. Had a customer the other day that was issued 8 permits. He swore that he was going to be able to use them. "he had to be. because the issued them" I feel bad if he tries to go through with him. He was just one of those don't tell me what to do old timers. Love those guys but feel bad because Im afraid he is going to try to use them and he is going to pay for it by his second amendment rights!

  7. This law is absolutely sad to our community! When it was first going into effect not even the head of firearms unit at the state police would offer us up a solid answer. I am not one hundred percent sure but I "heard" it was a felony. Also mandatory revocation of FID card (which i guess would happen with a felony arrest). Also as far as enforcing they are leaving it up to the local municipalities as we are mandated to send a copy to them within 3 days of sale. The guy that said his PD said self enforced even then I would be super careful because another copy goes to the State Police. I am sure they will also be tracking these. It is just not worth it at all! To risk having your firearm privileges revoked is horrible.

Its like when guys say can you get me 30 round mags?

    ANSWER: No

Well I'll just go out to PA and buy them and bring them back.

It amazes me that people will just out right admit to breaking a law that is so stupid but so severe.

Im going to have to build another floor tho to store peoples guns while they wait the 30 days out. With some firearms like Kimber and certain model Sigs being so scarce it is just not right to not allow a customer to put a deposit down on it if he has a valid Permit but has bought within the 30 days. Our safe is just filled with such guns and its an absolute insult that the LEGAL GUN OWNERS of NJ would buy more then one gun in order to sell it to a non eligible friend! I can see these straw purchases being a problem in say Texas or South Carolina. But NJ?? I doubt any of the people that sponsored this bill even know what it takes in order to obtain a gun the LEGAL way. Especially with people waiting in some towns up to 6 months to get a permit. This is such a JOKE! We must write as many letters to as many people as possible to tell them how this is absolutely not going to help any crime from being committed in this state. What we need to do is make stiffer and more severe penalties for people who are banned from purchasing being caught in possession with. AND STICKING TO IT! Too many of our states criminals are multi offenders that just get caught only to be released to be caught again. Why make more laws to restrict the innocent and not make the actual guilty pay for their crimes? THIS IS A JOKE AND A SPIT IN THE FACE TO US LEGAL OWNERS!

  8. SS not trying to give you a hard time but your prices were $36 for a box of 9MM FMJ. That is high by anyone's standards.

I agree. I'd never tell a business how to run their store but that's DOUBLE the price of my dicks store (which doesn't even stock that much ammo). I understand ammo prices fluctuate as well but not 50%. My dicks has had their 9mm ammo at 15 bucks a box for I can't even remember how long.

If this is off topic, feel free to delete

And we are 16.50 for the last 3 months for members. I think thats pretty good with constantly getting new stock and not being a major company such as dicks.

But it is not mandatory to buy your ammo from us as your are more then welcome to bring your own ammo into the range for your own use.

    Now Im really :deadhorse:

Its funny how a positive thing I wrote gets ripped to pieces. Not a problem tho. Any criticism is constructive!

  9. Wolfy.. that must have been a while ago. We are still expensive for non-members but that is the bread and butter of our business. The one time shooters. While we have the best relationships with our ongoing customers, these are the guys we care about. For them a box of 9's is 16.50. If you come to the store a decent amount and are a good guy we give tons of non-members member prices. But like I said our prices are constantly changing. This weekend alone (sat&sun) we sold 13 cases of 9's, 10 cases 40's, 4 38, 5 357, 12 45, 2 380. This is a lot of ammo. We do ammo buys 3-4 times a week. Which always makes us have the highest costing ammo. Plus we pay to have it sometimes when stocks are severely low, the price rises dramatically. Our business would not survive for a week or 2 without 9's. That could honestly put us out of business. I know exactly when you are talking about. It was when 9's were extremely scarce and if I could only tell you what we had to do in order to insure the fact that we had the ammo for our members. We offer many different ways for people to take advantage of the member priced ammo. We never sell non-member price ammo when people are buying a gun. Believe me the ammo price have hurt us just as much. But we arent Cabellas or Dicks or Cheaper then Dirt. We are a small indoor range and store not a major company.

But we are here for a positive reason. I totally understand that we are going to have negative things said about us. For every good thing you do for somebody they tell 3 people for every bad thing they tell 30. Its the truth. Im going to look in into trying to bring more choices of ammo at different prices. I just want you to know that we want to make the sale but we also need to stay in business. Its hard now a days when guys would rather save 20 dollars then support the Local Brick and Mortar. Believe me everybody is feeling it.

  10. I believe our staff and store are at it's highest level.

This is a dangerous statement for any business owner to make. Pride goes before the fall. Everyone can always learn something from someone. Every business can improve.

You guys took my words out of context, I 100% agree with you. That is why I am on this site. To learn. To teach. To improve my business.

  11. Its no different than Target vs Walmart. Both carry alot of the same things, but you have a personal preference. Does it make the other any less because you choose to go to the other one? Of course not.

Experiences are going to make some prefer one over the other. Some get very heated over their like or dislike, but its still up to each individual to make up their own mind. We're all adults, so anyone that comes here and sees positive or negative views posted by others can either believe what they read on the internet or they can go and decide for themselves. Lemmings are a dime a dozen, and I think any business prefers those with intelligence that can make up their own minds.

I prefer BA, but you'll never see me post anything negative about SS. I don't even post positives about BA because my opinion is just that, my opinion. I'll answer questions if i know the answer and that's about all.

There is no vs.... they are just 2 businesses close by that give those of us local to both, more options.

^--- this guy couldnt have said it better..  we are only a mile apart come make your own decisions.

  12. I believe our staff and store are at it's highest level.

VERY VERY VERY true! + 100 Dan

I believe our staff and store are at it's highest level.

    So are there ammo prices.

    :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

What I was trying to say was the fact that we are at our highest level to date. That you shouldn't let things from 8 years ago effect the things that are going on today. We are constantly trying to improve and take other peoples criticism and try to turn it into a positive.

As far as the ammo prices. Yes for non members we are high. But in a business like this with the internet constantly reducing the prices of items it is very hard to stay afloat. These non-member prices is what keeps us a float. For members are ammo is very reasonable as unlike a lot of stores we go through so much ammo we are constantly buying. For people in the business they know that ammo is like the stock market and constantly fluxing. We buy so much ammo our current price may not be reflected at normal stores for months due to the fact they order in mass bulk at the lower prices (cheaperthandirt.com or cabellas/dicks). I understand that a lot of people have their loyalties and such but at least I can put my two cents in now. When customers tell us they can get it cheaper we are all for it and tell them how we can help them out with transfers and what not. Sometimes we cant touch some costs of things, but a lot of times we can. Regardless we have a large operation with a high overhead. We keep costs at the lowest that allow us to stay in business.

I also understand that no matter what people are not going to be happy with everything. What matters is those that you can make happy.

I said my point on this thread and not going to keep :deadhorse::deadhorse:

  13. Just so you guys know. I was unaware of vendors and what not on this site. When I told people about SS I was just doing it as lending a helping hand to someone who might not have known about our services. Just so you guys know we are set up as a vendor. But as we are expierencing some of our busiest times ever in our 15 year old history, you have to give me time to get used to using the site and what its all about. As I only have time to comment during lulls or when I go home from work at the end of the day. I have already apologized to Max numerous amount of times and told him to delete all my posts stating the business. Whether or not we are he as a vendor to help the community and will help whoever will accept our help and service and for the people that don't want to that is quite ok as that is their choice.

  14. I dont know if we have the most but we sure do have a lot. All the firearms we stock we also stand behind. Being a store and a range we have the advantage of finding out what works and what lasts better then most places. We are also the first person you see when you come off the range so we hate to sell guns that we dont stand behind. So come check out our stock of great reliable firearms. Open to answer any questions you may have. Shore Shot Pistol Range in Lakewood, NJ right off exit 89 Parkway South. (732)905-6888 ext. 0 if you want to see if we have a particular in stock or if we can get it for you. For any normal firearm that we will be able to resell we do not require any form of deposit to order. If the gun is out of stock we dont take any money just incase you can find the gun somewhere else. We also do FFL transfers. Any questions PLEASE CALL!

  15. I thought Range 14 stopped allowing you to shoot 50bmg. We sold one to a member a while back. I know he was having a real hard time finding a place to shoot it. I think cherry ridge only allows it during comps. Could be wrong tho. But let me know ab range 14.

  16. Contact ATF for forms to apply for a FFL. i believe they are located online. Search ATF Forms. Then your going to have to contact the state police firearms unit to get the paperwork for a state license. I dont know if you can sell from your house as that might go against zoning laws. Im pretty sure it is up to your town, I do know some of our members are also FFL holders. Good luck to ya

  17. We rent all those guns except for the 24/7. If you stay within the same caliber you can try all those 40sw's out for one rental fee. With rentals you must purchase your ammo at the range. Any questions with any of these guns please feel free to email [email protected]. Right now xd9's are hard to come by because of our states magazine capacity laws they have only been producing the 16 round guns. This should free up soon and we will have them in stock asap. As for the 23 and mp and xd40's we do have all those guns in stock also. If you decide to buy after I wont charge you for the rental and also give you member prices on ammo. Come talk to me or give a call. - Kyle Shore Shot Pistol Range (732)905-6888 ext. 0

  18. Also having two gun shops in the area has done nothing but increase the traffic that our store sees. Of course we were not happy when Brick Armory decided to relocate within a mile of our established business for the last 15 years but looking back on the last year it has all been positive. As people have pointed out competition is good for business. When we were the only show in town we got lazy. Did not keep our store up to par but with the new business in the area we are forced to spend EVEN MORE TIME down at the range making it the best store that we possibly can. At our store we strive to cater to our members and customers in general. For all of you that had a "bad expierence" at SS, I do urge you to give us another shot as we have a totally different setup in shop and different staff. I believe our staff and store are at it's highest level. If you need anything or having any comments or suggestions I am open to hear all of them. Thanks again for all of your business over the past year as the firearms industry has been exploding!

  19. Honestly guys why is this even a topic here? We are located within a mile of each other. YES A MILE. Come check both shops out. MAKE YOUR OWN DECISION! You should not let a thread on a forum tell you where and where not to shoot and shop. If you need help with anything feel free to come down to the shop. I was just recently told about this site and as I do not have as much time as I'd like to stick up for us online, I do greatly appreciate all the positive feedback from people on here. When you come back to the shop please Identify yourself as I'd like to know who some of you guys are. Thanks again! - Kyle W. Sherman

  20. wow... hey rhino_chaser.. next time your in Im going to give you a free membership. Just call and ask for Kyle. Thanks for all the support. Just getting onto the site.
