  1. I don't have kids, so I probably haven't thought it all the way through. I don't think I'd let my kids stay with people that didn't carry guns.
  2. Yeah, it's seriously F'd up. I don't know much about NJ firearms laws. But I know more about NJ firearms laws now, having lived in PA for 3 years, than I knew 3 years ago after almost 30 years in NJ. My last 10 years in NJ I just hid my guns like a recluse. I knew a little about the laws and discussed the issues with friends in hushed tones. Needed FID to shoot at a range or buy ammo. I started feeling like a criminal even though I broke no laws. Stopped shooting completely. In retrospect, I'm kind of glad I didn't find this forum sooner. If I saw all the cool stuff you guys are doing I might have bargained with my freedom and never moved to PA. Give 'em Hell, guys. Keep the Faith.
  3. Thanks I know. It's so F'd up. But I'm very impressed with some of the ARs I see on here. You got FSC 556 comps and carbine stocks. Who cares if you can't adjust the stock or take the comp off? And some sweet rigs. The mag limit sucks, but I see you guys have real 15 round mags now. It sucks, but that aint bad in the grand scheme of things. I'd rather have 15 round mags and a couple carbine courses under my belt than 30 round mags.
  4. Does not apply to handguns. FID gives you no exceptions for transport of handguns in NJ.
  5. OK, well, if there's a wink involved, then I get it Just remember the first question LEO asks when they pull you over or meet you on foot. If you haven't thought it through, and don't know when to clam up, you might get jacked. Plus, I don't understand the whole "approved" range exception in NJ. If you decide to open your mouth, and say you are headed to a range on the opposite side of where you live, you might get jacked. LEO are generally not stupid. We are surprisingly so. They do this day in and day out, they might learn something over the years. Answer a casual question and you might screw yourself since only the LEO knows where it is heading. EDIT: FID does not apply to handguns.
  6. Are you talking the sand pits in NJ? I haven't been to them for 10 years. I'm not sure it's ALLOWED, but it's done. I spent 10 years out there. Or you can find anyone who lives out there with land. I knew some people further west in Chatsworth and we tore shit up out there. I'm not sure I want to give directions to property that I might not have had permission to be on. If you are talking the coal pits in PA, that is a different story. We have permission for the ones I go to. There are zillions of them, I only shoot at a couple. We don't give directions over the internet, but we could meet for lunch and a shoot. I can't invite the whole board for a group shoot. Start thinking a bit. Join a club out in the Pine Barrens. Meet some people. A lot of them have plenty of blasting range. Better yet, meet some people in PA.
  7. Not exactly. It covers interstate travel under some strict and some ambiguous conditions. It provides NO protection against laws of the states of origin or destination. It provides NO protection to NJ residents heading for the NJ border. I am not a lawyer. But I strongly recommend you look into this.
  8. Correct, typically the terminals are the secure areas. I'm not sure what "terminal" means. I looked it up on wiki (not always a good source) and it said this: What I can tell you is this. I can OC or concealed carry anywhere in an airport as long as I don't go through a security checkpoint.
  9. Yeah, I posted that at 0858 this morning Right, got it. You helped clarify a few things, and I think together we did even better! Let me ask you a question since you seem to be on top of this. Do you believe the OP meets a NJ statute exception that allows him to transport a handgun out of state? Transportation of handguns is tightly restricted in NJ. I don't believe there is an exception for crossing a state line. I think there is an exception for going to an "approved" range or something like that. Not sure what that means and if he is excepted in his planned travel. Would like to hear more about this since we have problems in PA over this with our NJ friends. The common consensus seems to be that you can be busted on your way to the border or the airport unless you meet one of the transport exceptions. I don't know much about this and would love some clarification, especially if positive!
  10. Bad idea if you do NOT know everything there is to know about open carry in PA, and if you have never had any training or experiance in ccw or open carry in the past. There is a ton of information on this subject on many PA dedicated forums you can still end up in some trouble and you need to know the law's and your rights, I highly recommend you do not do this while in PA unless you have done your homework. http://forum.pafoa.org/open-carry-144/5 ... ou-do.html As long as you're over 18, not in a court facility, not in a federal facility, not in a state park, not in a detention facility, not in an airport terminal, not in philidelphia, or a school (wiggle room for that). There is no law against carrying in airports, CC or OC. Under federal law you cannot pass into secured areas, normally this would be past the security check. You can carry in state parks. I believe CC is required, I forget why, not up on that. I just know I need to conceal. You can OC or concealed carry in Philadelphia with a LTCF or license from recognized state. The biggest problem is that if you do not have a concealed permit from "any" state (even states not recognized by PA are OK for this point) then you can basically not transport a handgun in a car, even unloaded in the trunk, unless going to places that are excepted. The list of places is very similar to NJ law.
  11. Those state workers just had a furlow on Friday. Talk about living the life!
  12. Umm... Do what? I watched half way through, 6 minutes was more than enough. All I saw was shooting at stuff and listened to techno music. If you're willing to pay top dollar for that then I am willing to take top dollar to oblige you. Go to the sand pits N/W of 70 and 206. That's what I did when I lived in NJ. Now I shoot at friends' houses or coal pits. Plus two indoor ranges that allow FA. Planning to join two clubs around here for IDPA and for medium range rifle. BTW, I spent my younger years in Cherry Hill! Went through Kingston gradeschool.
  13. One more AR pic. It's supposed to be my tacticool pic. I know my camera is crappy, sorry.
  14. I see you guys are using photobucket. I have old computer and can't get anything to upload. I uploaded some files to the forum and hope they show my pics. My stuff is not as high speed as some of the stuff I have seen in this thread for sure. But I thought you guys would like to see how we roll in PA and be happy for me that I managed to get to a free state. Here are some vids of my .22 upper for my AR as well: K2PVLeVWl7w JMiTd0uvVhk

    My new rifle

I don't know WTF that is but it looks hot and is shooting sweet!
  16. I wouldn't, because you would have to answer "yes" if they ask "have you ever been denied for a CCW permit before" on any other application that you might fill out in another state in the future. I have often read that most states do not consider denial by states such as NJ to be an issue. But - who knows. The risk would bother me as well. There are two problems. One is the corrupt government class, obviously. The other is that most of the people in NJ have no f'ing clue about firearms. I'm not talking about firearms good vs. firearms bad. I'm talking about firearms being NORMAL. I take every opportunity to talk to people in NJ about the fact that I carry. The response is usually something like, "Oh, you can do that in PA? I thought you could do that in Texas but not so close." I like to hit them with this: In 1986 there were 7 Shall Issue states (I explain it), how many do you think there are now? They always answer either "less" or pick a number below 7. They are stunned when I tell them it's 39. I let them know 1/14 people carry in PA. Nationwide, it's 1/20 outside of the ban states. Nobody has a problem with it anywhere. Trying to get antis in NJ to like guns does not always work. Most of the efforts are regarded as propaganda. But the people of NJ don't even understand that guns are NORMAL. That makes it very easy for politicians to scare them about these "radical" suggestions such as CC.
  17. Yeah, the main problem with unlicensed OC in PA is that transport of a handgun by vehicle is regulated almost the same way as in NJ. You can't transport a handgun anywhere except range, dog training, (hunting and fishing?), gun shop, etc. If you have a friend with LTCF then he/she can can borrow your handgun while you travel and then you can OC at your destination. I carry OWB. It's winter now, so it's usually covered to some extent by a jacket. The rest of the year I OC in banks, restaurants, bars (not a big bar person), everywhere I go. Except federal property (some post offices), court or statehouse (they check your weapon when you come in), and K-12 schools (unresolved legally).
  18. Not exactly. A firearm is considered loaded if the mag is loaded and in the same container as the firearm. Where the container has multiple compartments (such as outside pockets), it is loaded if the loaded mag and firearm are in the same compartment. "Firearms" (under certain barrel or overall length) can be loaded in the vehicle if you have LTCF. Rifles can never be loaded in the vehicle. Actually, "Firearms." This includes short barreled rifles, SBS, and some AOWs - it's based on barrel and overall length. You can carry a loaded, full auto MAC10 in a car with LTCF. Also remember that under FEDERAL law, you cannot carry within 1000 feet of a school unless your CCP is issued by the state you are in - reciprocity agreements do not apply. Although I've never heard of somebody being jacked up on this if off of school property. I think the biggest legal hurdle for you is NJ law - that simply traveling out of NJ is NOT an exception in NJ law for transporting a handgun. You must still meet one of the requirements - such as moving, to and from work, or going to an "approved" range. Not sure what all this means since my NJ law is almost non-existent but there was an extensive discussion on PAFOA about it. We have people come to meets and shoots all the time and they do not bring their own handguns. But without LTCF you can only transport a handgun in a vehicle to essentially the same places as you can in NJ. However, you can loan a handgun to someone with LTCF and have them transport it for you. I am not a lawyer. EDIT: Oh, I see some of this has been clarified further down in the thread - I'll leave here in case I have provided any more detailed info.
  19. I've never owned anything from Century, been tempted a few times. We all know their rep is mixed on some guns but anything can be fixed if you want to chance it. I've heard of Century fixing some of their mistakes for customers. If you guys are having such a hard time getting stuff like this shipped to you, why not try to get with a shop in PA? I know a couple good ones that have gunsmiths and kit builders. Maybe they would weld your comps and pin your stocks before you come pick them up. Do you want me to talk to some people?

    Kriss Vector...

Very cool, I've never seen one. I don't think they had them at SAR East. I would only buy one in FA, and unfortunately that's never going to happen
  21. Somebody on UT suggested Magnum Research might get involved but not much to go on. http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showthrea ... ight=tavor
  22. Wow, we got some hot rifles here. I wish I knew about this place when I lived in NJ. I was afraid to change anything on my rifle. I see a lot of people like the FSC 556. I have them on most of my uppers. They kick butt!
  23. Hi Guys, I lived in NJ most of my life but I've been in PA for three years now. Things are a little different now. I carry in 32 states and own FA and 2 suppressors I bought an MG and suppressor over a kitchen table, no dealer involved. Just the Form 4s signed by the Sheriff and mailed by me. Hope things get turned around in NJ some day since I have an office there. Keep the faith, Brothers!!! Email me if there is anything I can do to help. Which brings me to my question. I have a Bushmaster XM15-E2S that I have no use for. These things are nearly worthless in PA due to the absence of desirable features. It would be considered a lower, stripped upper, and BCG. I'm going to have two friends of mine in NJ try to find me a buyer (to be transferred at a dealer of course). So I'm looking for a price on this thing. It's a flat top with carry handle, A2 type fixed stock, 16" barrel with no muzzle attachment. I ideas on an asking price? Thanks guys, Ed EDIT: It has about 200 rounds through it.
