  1. I'll have to agree totally with R2 on this one
  2. I bought a handgun privately a few months ago. A week or so after the fact, I got a call from the State Police asking me to verify the serial number as it didn't reflect the proper format of the manufacturer. I checked the SN while they were on the phone and sure enough, the prefix was written incorrectly on the permit. He thanked me for verifying and said he would contact my local PD to update them as well. No other action was necessary. The LEO was very cool, he could tell I was nervous and talked me off the ledge :-)
  3. Some of these stories are pretty shocking to me. I've been shown guns without question by the young guys, the old guy, and the oldest guy. I've never got an attitude. I do show my FID but never a permit. I stop in maybe once a month or less so it's not like I'm a regular. Who knows. I agree though, there are lots of good shops out there and if I was treated like you guys I would drive right by.
  4. I stop in there pretty regularly as I work close by. It's a true mom and pop and son business. They are good people. Some great deals on used guns but inventory is small even in good times. Ammo prices are usually steep but they offer discount on cases. As of the other day they had plenty of magtech and privi 308 in stock.
  5. Gives me time to find a proper holster. Any suggestions for a S&W 686 6"?
  6. It was fear of the unknown... I AM the unknown
  7. Can I use a crappy uncle mikes holster for this?
  8. Even though I've never competed, shot steel, and haven't even shot my gun, I feel a little miffed that I wasn't ranked.
  9. Thanks for the offer Sir but looks like I'll just be shooting the wheel gun.
  10. Cool... I'll be there. You can strap the camera backwards on my muzzle to capture the fear and confusion.
  11. Will they substitute an A2 stock for the other?
  12. I would love to shoot BP again, I haven't since the time with you and Glenn. I did however pickup a couple new toys. I bought a Ruger Old Army and a 36cal something or other. The price was right and they are in sweet condition.
  13. How can I forget Dave, the smoke hasn't cleared yet from that .54 I really want to go believe me. I don't want to travel all that way just to shoot one gun. But if I run three that's $60 correct?
  14. I don't know Nick. $20/gun, 2.5 hours driving, 10 minutes of shooting, It's starting to make me wonder.
  15. You talkin' to me? I think so but I have to take my son to basketball tryouts later in the day so not sure how long I can stay. It's a bit of a ride for me.
  16. I hear ya but...I haven't even shot the 686 yet so I have NO confidence I can hit anything with it. Maybe I can get to a range before Sunday. What size are the plates?
  17. I forgot about revolvers. I do have a couple of them. I'll have to buy those speed loader things if I use the 686.
  18. Thanks. I'll take you up on that if I come up empty.
  19. Thanks for the replies. Most indoor ranges won't allow the 17 as its too hot. I stopped by heritage on my way home tonight and they had no MKII mags so I may be out of luck. I don't have 5 mags of anything.
  20. I think I may come out of hibernation for this. I've never done anything like it so if you would be so kind: How many mags would I need per firearm? Can I use my 10/22 which is converted to .17HM2? How far are the targets in general? Where do I pickup my trophy? Thanks in advance for your help, kindness, and understanding. --JJ
  21. Met me at the range my son was shooting at. Great guy. Thanks Nick!
